  1. I agree. I'm going with brown. I did the walking animations. Posted those, it's only choppy because it's made from an AVI file put into GIF. It's smoother walking in the game. Btw, you can't play as a wolf, I just wanted to show how the walk looks.
  2. did you view the link or just the image on the forums? eyes are good on the link I think. They just seem to get blurred over on the forums somehow. if everyone else's work is too dark… maybe it's just your monitor. I can put some recolors up to see those if you'd like
  3. Yeah, took me a while to realize that the image host is turning it to JPG and ruining the clarity. I'ma upload a clear version in a second. In the clear version the claws look better edit- nevermind it's something with the forums. the picture gets changed somehow when I put it on the forum.
  4. There is no teeth. that's the glare on his nose. And it's not noise I was trying to make fur. The look I'm going for is like…kinda like a gorilla, the chest is skin and the rest is fur.

    delete all your maps then go to data.ini and set Scrolling = 0 or you can fix the source so that that chunk scrolls too.

    Yeah. plus it's literally impossible to do anything without layers if you do anything other than completely from scratch. If you paste something in a photoshop picture it puts it on a new layer. I really don't see anything mind boggling about layers anyways.

    well your very point is not a very good point because, as you said you don't do much graphics. Layers make shading a lot easier. Layers allow you to copy parts of images easier, like if you want to make a recolor of part of a suit of armor.

  12. Wow. yes there's a difference between the two. Javascript is like website addons like… a pop up saying welcome to my site. Java is actually where applications and applets are created. So far all I've heard is that the server is in java. with that I'm sure it'll be easy (or... less complicated) to make a java client. I might actually try to finish mine once his server is out. Yes, it would make it easier to update the client. Basically you just take the old copy of the client off your website, put the new client back up. And the client is now updated. Only thing is, I can imagine that the only way to have it hosted on your site is to pay for a site host because most free hosts have a file size limit and a MMO in java is a lot bigger than that limit. Another big benefit from java is that it could be manipulated to multi platforms. soo... in essence playing someone's eclipse game via your XBOX 360 live account is plausible. I guess we'll see what comes of it. As I said, I might try to work on my Java client some more once the server source is released. As of now it's just too much for me to take on alone.

    zidsal, if someone actually knows how to do it, they won't need more than an hour. if they don't know how to do it, I wouldn't be paying them. either way, I don't think a conversion is worth money. I've programmed for money and you either get paid for making a whole game or paid for porting it to another language. one itty bitty piece isn't worth 100$ (unless it's some multi million dollar game). Anyways, Devogen, you're right that's not what I want =/ ah well. one day I guess I'll suck it up and learn to switch it to DX8 since it looks like 3.0 is a mythological beast =)

    Lol, I understand I have to redo the DirectX mod. I need someone to help me though because I'm only able to figure out and/or currently know how to add something to what's already there. I.E. I figured out how to use the DX7 commands to draw a custom bar behind my HP bars. But, I don't know how to convert a whole thing to another version of DX. Which is why i'm looking for someone that has or can figure it out. If anyone can, they'll be a major asset to Vikings =)
  15. You can ask but I'm not telling. I don't think I've seen any other game use 64x96 sprites so I don't really want to give out the code. All you have to do is mess with the numbers in bltPlayer and bltPLayerTop Took me a day to figure out
  16. yeah. it is, I don't have the patience to make my own sprite. although i might be developing it. I'm working on my own monster sprites while I wait for a engine version with DX8.

  18. Oracle, read the thread. that PNG support isn't what the real use of PNG would be. That "PNG support" loads a PNG image then converts it to BMP and uses the BMP. I, as well as a few other people, realize that with PNG we can make glows and the likes. Basically you have a transparent background and a glowing spell and it won't show up as a big ugly block on the screen, it'll show up as a glowing spell. Really I just want my 2.7 converted to use DX8 so I can have better eye candy. I can't figure it all out though. I

    Orc Villan

    Personally I think the only fix is that it should fit the character more. He's a Orc villain. a) he should look evil b) he should look monsterish just make his body type fit that of an orc and you're good to go.
  21. well… since I actually read I'm not going to rate it .... but anyways, it feels like the bottom right is just empty. Is there anything already planned to be there? if so that's fine. But if not... that section looks really empty and doesn't fit right with the rest of it.

  23. Neither, if your game is called world of Polar I would expect the text and everything to look icy. I mean I guess if you're going to put ice effects on it then use the top, I think there might be ice fonts though what he means is… these GUIs are really boring unless you plan on adding colors and pictures and the likes
