  1. I would be really grateful for some help getting started with the Events. I'm using EO 4.2, but it looks to be basically the same. What I would like to learn how to do (and I think it would help me grasp the system) is to have an NPC walking around randomly on the map. When the player enters the map with a variable of Tutorial Complete = False (I figured out that part) then I want the NPC to walk towards the player and start a conversation. I also need to make the player face the NPC, but I can't figure out how to do that. I've been playing around with it, but whenever I give the event a Move Route, then add a Move Route in the Commands, the NPC just never does anything.
  2. I'm not sure I understand. Let's say you have a forest area and a cave area. The setups I see for this scenario are: * Set A * Sheet 1 - Forest terrain and objects * Sheet 2 - Cave terrain and objects * Set B * Sheet 1 - Forest terrain * Sheet 2 - Cave terrain * Sheet 3 - Objects With Set A, if you want to use an object in the map that is not in the sheet for that type, you would either have to use the object from another sheet/type, increasing the load for however many objects on different sheets were used; or you would have to add duplicate objects to each sheet for what you wanted to use. The problem with Set A would be resolved with Set B, but the Objects sheet would become larger, increasing the load. Solutions to this, that I see, are to split the objects into specific categories, leading to a ton of random object sheets. And if you want to use multiple objects that may be on different sheets, the load would, again, increase. I'm probably over-thinking the whole situation, but I'd rather get it right the first time, if at all possible. Am I missing something or just looking at it incorrectly? Thanks!
  3. I've been working on setting up a good set of tilesheets, but saw that the way to have them up is in small sets to reduce load times. Could someone explain to me the best way to go about setting up a proper set of tilesheets? For example, I thought the idea was to have everything for a map on a single tilesheet and only stuff for that map on that tilesheet. However, this would lead to creating a new sheet for almost every area and would have tons of duplication. So, I'm rather confused, and guidance in this would be wonderful.

    Tileset tips?

I'm trying to go through and create a new, usable group of tilesets from the mass of resources I've gathered (now that I've finally found PS + grid + shift key). I'm wondering if there are any abstract limitations I should be aware of in regards to overall size (mostly length) for each sheet. By abstract I mean not hard coded, but any caveats I should be aware of. For example, is there a certain point where the size of a sheet becomes cumbersome on clients/computers? Any other info would be great, too. Thanks!
  5. I feel that I'm missing something blatantly obvious, but… are there no animation layers in EO? I downloaded the thing yesterday from the Christmas Edition thread, so I would assume I have the most recent version. I see there's an animation editor now, but I don't see how that would work for maps.

    Edit Characters?

Aha, that'll work even better for what I need to do, actually. Thanks much!

    Edit Characters?

Hey all, is there a way to edit existing characters? I was used to the old old version where it was just a text document, so I'm not sure about it now. Thanks.

    About Elements?

Well I get that… but I need to know what the elements affect (like are they worked into items? characters? skills? etc.; how is the damage change worked out and under what conditions does it take effect?) As for the example thing, I have come up with a little circle system like that, but the elements tend to not make sense somewhere along the way... so I was trying to see other's ideas of how it should work. Thanks for the response, though.

    About Elements?

I'm using EE 2.8, and I'm wondering about the elements… how do they work exactly (what they affect and such), and a description-example of a small set of elements that are set up correctly would also be nice. Thanks!
  10. =P It's fine, I just didn't want people to see that and assume the same thing.

    Wich IP?

When you're port forwarding, I _believe_ you use the Private IP of the host computer. If you run a client on the host PC, you might have to use the Private IP to connect; but everyone else (other players) will need to use your Public IP from ipchicken or wherever. It's been a while since I've had to do any of that, so I could be off. Just try that, though, and it should work.
  13. I've looked around for the answer to this and came across some contrasting, unsure answers. When 3.0 is out and all for everyone to use, will it be able to convert scrolling maps from 2.7 or just non-scrolling? And if I were wanting to go ahead and work on a project that could convert to 3.0, are there any limitations in the conversion that I'd need to keep in mind? Thanks.
  14. Wow, I actually made one: ![](http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y294/Orca239/eclipsewallpaper.png) I might edit it more later or something. =P
