  1. Or you know, ya'll can choose an ever-growing community of game-making hobbyists full of vets and nubs alike that's months away from a working C# engine.
  2. lol. It's meant for ease of use. It's the most downloaded version of Eclipse since EO 2.0 (I'm fairly certain) and anything on this site isn't meant to be used in a full commercial project without a complete overhall, like Nin Online. If you just want to rip something out to not include my name in the credits, go ahead. Some peeps even claim to have programmed the entirety of the engine themselves. Screw me for trying to keep my name in something I've done and given to the community for free lol. Anyways, this is the last you'll hear of me, Eclipse. (unless I need to set some records straight or something like that in the future) See ya
  3. A lot better. And yes, everyone judges company's like that. If Blizzard didn't have a game to their name, and made a post like that do you think it would entice people? Forgive my cynicism, just wanted to give you guys some advice on presentation lol.
  4. Awful lot of talk for a company that (as far as I can tell from this post) hasn't put out any noteworthy games. Instead of talking like you're graciously giving people the opportunity to let them work for you, what can this company do for it's workers? What kind of games do you make? How much publicity have you garnered? Stuff like that.

    The "ban wave"

There is SOOOOOO much salt in this post. It's just hilarious

@'Xlithan': > This game is pretty bad to be fair. And you have no talent to be fair. Just saying, sticking a "to be fair" at the end of an insult doesn't make it any less of an insult. Next time leave some advice or literally anything than stopping in to say it's bad. The game could be horrible for all I know (haven't played it yet, sorry Matt D;) but it's still not a valid reason to leave pointless criticism. (Also, didn't really mean you have no talent)
  7. @'Irij': > @'SkywardRiver': > > > All for the lolz while I actually do stuff. > > TL;DR: You care in some way and since you do, _why not try to contribute to the community like you have before to bring this place somewhat back_? Ultimately it's your decision and I appreciate everything you've done sincerely, as I really do appreciate this place as it's given me a lot of joy over the years of utilizing what this place brought us. Because I've been doing that since Amish left (until about a month ago) and still got treated like a near ban-worthy nuisance every time I spoke my mind. Or if a bug was found in Skywyre it was (in some cases) all my fault and how dare I call myself a programmer. I don't want to be part of some toxic regime that treats it's vets, again, like some near ban-worthy nuisance. @'Helladen': > Skyward reminds me of myself years ago, when I was bashing Eclipse direction. ;) > > You guys even if 2-D games are dead, especially MMOs - don't mean there isn't a big enough demand. You can make a 2-D MMO that generates income to feed you and a family of 5\. You just got to be good enough and make it work on mobile. Simply put. I'm not bashing the direction of Eclipse, because it HAS no direction lol. And yeah, a good 2D MMO can still preform wonderfully in the market today! I just feel that they won't be being made here in the years to come.
  8. All for the lolz while I actually do stuff.
  9. @'Link': > Things have been going very smooth lately What. As far as advice to give if I cared for Eclipse anymore, I would try God's suggestions (the member's) minus the remarks about Agora as Agora is bae. Anywho, toodles.
  10. My only advice for you would be to maybe include more info next time, and to accept criticism only to a certain extent. If it's advice on making maps, changing up your flavor text on your items, that's all well and good. If it's "You and your ideas and/or methods suck and should consider something completely different like this…" I would totally ignore it from 85% of the members here, as 85% of them don't know the first thing about game dev. Learn what you can here, maybe release a game or two, and then move on.

    The situation.

Was this so hard man? A post with even a fifth of this info a week would do wonders for your community. I wish you good luck (I really do. As I said I'm not personally attacking you.) moving forward with your community and will pop in every now and then to see what you've done. (And hey, just for shits and giggles, I love you as well
  12. Oh hey Cici :D Not a rant at all, if we could all keep our cool it would be a nice discussion to finally have. A few notes on your post though (of course lol) While yes, it was immature of me to "leak" what had happened, I believe it was best for the community to know what was up instead of being told a month or two down the road. Also I'd just like to point out I've never said (or have never meant to say) that I have been the only one contributing life to the community. Even I'm not that arrogant ;) Anyways, thanks for your two cents :D
  13. You're acting very much like Seth. You take every form of criticism as a personal attack. You constantly insist that you are in the right even when you have a vast majority saying otherwise based on the facts given. This is not an attack. This is my refusal to support your site and listed reasons why. Grow up a bit and handle it with tact instead of blowing up every time something like this comes up. @'Link': > I'm also tired of being censored on the website. I haven't removed or censored any posts by you, SKY. There's your official answer, so you can stop making up shit now. I don't plan to tell you who did either, because then you'll probably accuse them every chance you get. I've had the shit end of the stick since the moment I purchased and tried to save Eclipse. Everyone is too spoonfed to care, except a few people (thanks to you, you're the only reason I fucking try with this site besides the fact that I wanted it to live) And this? I've never said you were personally censoring my stuff. I'm saying people censor what YOU want them to censor. I know who censored me and I have no problem with them at all. And maybe you've had a hard time because you haven't really done anything that's come to fruition since you bought this place? Yeah you got a new theme, and you made a few news posts, but anyone could have done that. You know who's had "the shit end of the stick since trying to save eclipse"? Oh that's right. And yes, Chief has been nothing but a neutral party in this post. (and lol, personally attack you all the time my ass lol. I've tried to help you more than most people on this site. I DID release my engine because I wanted to HELP Eclipse.)
  14. How is this an attack? lol I'm critiquing you and judging your actions as wrong in my eyes. That's not attacking you.
  15. To all those who didn't yet know: The latest version of Eclipse, the one that was in development by "the team" mentioned in Link's "The Team, the Dream" post, has been cancelled. Well, not really. It's just going to be it's own thing. It's not coming onto Eclipse because Link pissed off the dev team. (Or so I'm told). I've been waiting for Link to post something to let his community know what's up, but I've seen him online all the time with nary a word. As such, and with some earlier drama to top it off, I'm pulling Eclipse Skywyre. **I don't want it re-uploaded**. **_Eclipse Skywyre v10_** will be available as soon as it's verified on IndieDB -> [HERE](http://www.indiedb.com/engines/eclipse-skywyre-2d-orpg-maker) I'm doing this for a number of reasons: 1\. Eclipse was an amazing place. I loved it deeply. But it's not here anymore. We have but a husk of what it was and I think it's time for everyone to move on. There's a certain _higher_ place that's showing some wonderful promise. It's got a great community going, and although it's just beginning to spread it's wings, it feels like Eclipse used to. A place to hang out, have fun, and make games! If you want a direct link, add me on Skype as I can't post it here without being insta-censored. Skype: @riverskyward 2\. Even though I've kept this place alive with this engine for the better part of 8 months, Link had the nerve to tell me off. We'll see how well he does without it. 3\. This is old, outdated software that I'm sick of having to support. It's also about time we stop forcing 90% of people using this engine (programming wise) to pirate other old, outdated software illegally. Big things are coming on that _higher_ place I mentioned earlier. 4\. My Farewell thread was _locked_ because the _**owner of this site**_ couldn't keep his cool. 5\. Eclipse is very selective with what rules they'll follow or when they'll follow them. For instance, I've linked my own site (_**and products on my site**_) numerous times without a single consequence. Yet the first time I post a link to that _higher_ place it get's taken down immediately and I'm left with a warning. 6\. You know how Anita Sarkeesian disabled comments or ratings on her videos because of the amount of people that called her out on all her bullshit? Yeah, that's every single one of Link's posts now. Anyways. I'm leaving. I'll probably be banned for doing this, but who gives a duck. I was once a respected member of a vast community. Now I'm just "that jackass that TOTALLY didn't keep this place alive while the owner twiddled his thumbs." Have a good one!
  16. EOO had 15+ peeps on with narry a problem unless they had a poor connection.

    Download

Hmmmm. There's no such file in the Skywyre Engine. Just in case, here's the download link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/4m4foc9xsfnaw1a/Skywyre+Primitive+v9.zip The source is located in project files via Visual Basic 6\. You'll need Visual Basics 6 Enterprise Edition to edit and compile the source.
  18. SkywardRiver

    Download

http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/thread-1.html It's at the bottom of the main thread post. Download v9 and get started :D You can edit the source in the version supplied as well.
  19. Eh, I'm not giving up on it. I'm actually still using my own custom version of my custom version for a grand project lol. I just don't take too well to being told off by the owner of the forum after I've kept his forum alive with this thing for the last 6 months or so. Anywho, I'll continue to update it, I've decided, but whether or not it will be here is another question I'll answer in time.
  20. If I have time for one, and if I decide to post it here and not pull the engine from eclipse for two. Not quite sure at this point.
  21. Actually the team that was developing the new Eclipse Engine have decided to not post it on Eclipse. They're work will continue, I'm told, but it will be released on a new site that has yet to be disclosed. You have Link to thank for that as well. Also, I really appreciate the help you've been supplying to peeps using this release :D
  22. @'Diefool': > Sorry for double-post, but in next update you may wanna fix this as well (Only renders the first 50 maps as working): > > Client: > ``` > MAX_MAPS = 300 > ``` > Server: > ``` > MAX_MAPS = 50 > ``` Hmmmmm. My copy of v9 has this fixed. Anywho, if I end up updating this, (the still official version of Eclipse (nice, Link. Tell me off and then keep my stuff)) then I'll make sure it's fixed.
  23. Okay go into Client -> Components -> Controls and make sure the following are ticked: Microsoft Rich Textbox Control 6.0 Microsoft Windows Common Controls 6.0 (SP4) Microsoft Winsock Control 6.0 (SP4) Then click "Apply" and save your project. Exit out and then load it back up and it should be working fine.
