  1. Shpoops and Kersplats :D Oh wow! Are you pushing this into the public and advertising, as well?
  2. @Rob: > As for sound, I suppose I should send you the WAV files Robin ;) Is there a shpoop? There needs to be a shpoop.
  3. Very important question. Will the guns make a 'shpoop' noise when they fire paintballs?

    Adding Tilesets

Make sure they're all in .bmp format, and make sure you save it as .bmp, don't just rename the file. You should read the tutorial on adding graphics, too. Have a read through [this](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,68363.msg736616.html#msg736616) before you do anything. You might want to read the rest of the tutorials, too. They're rather very useful.

    Career Path

Games development. If you don't mind doing another College course beforehand, there's courses on games development that will prepare you for the University course so you can get a foot in the door (I'm doing one right now). There's a lot of assignments, but if you like 3D modelling and you put the work in, you won't find it difficult. It also might be a good idea to find out what software they use so you can get some experience in it. I'm using 3Ds Max, Mudbox and Maya for 3D modelling, UDK, Unity and Game Maker for engines and Bamboo tablets for use with Photoshop. That's pretty much the standard kit. The course I'm taking right now involves a break-down for 3D Modelling Lessons, Digital Graphics, Storyline and Character Development, Industry Studies and Life Drawing. Each individiual lesson tends to interlace for your assignments which can end up with some good results. Games Design is more interesting for the course content, but jobs can be difficult to find. Try Gamasutra and Edge Magazine for job listings and keep up to date with news. It's really a case of staying at pace with the industry whilst acknowledging the mistakes of the past. If you can identify the common pitfalls and traps, then you'll fly through. Just keep your work original, otherwise you'll end up working on a FPS like most of my classmates. And another generic FPS is all the World needs, really.

    Hi Everybody!

Yep. And the fact that anything good made by those with talent would be messed up by those who don't know what they're doing. When you water it down to the people you really need, then you just have your average EO project team. Plus I doubt EO could handle 36K admins working away at it. The idea of the community working away on something together sounds good, but in truth there'd be too many arguments. Eclipse is pretty judgemental, rude and egotistical in the right circumstances (Most circumstances, really), but if you research before asking, you're productive and you're not rude or anything, you should be fine. Soo… Enjoy your stay?
  7. Well then no-one will play anything you make because you haven't bothered editing the GUI and you replaced the existing one with something hideous - I'd say you'd definitely need advice.

  10. @Erwin: > He did that so nobody would steal it, like a watermark lol So I see, with my eyes :D But the point still stands. If you need advise on making GUI you know where we are (:

    Hi Everybody!

A mix of talent probably wouldn't yield good results. If you want to make an epic game, then learn VB6 fully and make one when you have the sufficient skills and keep going until it's perfect. If it's the feeling of awesomeness you can only get in a team that you want, then do as previous, but get a team together. It definitely would take it's time but if the product is as good as you predict then the time would be worth it.
  12. No offence, dude, but that GUI is terrible. You could do to download Paint.NET and mess around with **Render > Clouds** over a coloured gradient. Bear in mind that block colours and autoshapes don't look good. You need to first think about the game. If it's a horror game, think black and white, red, purple. If it's a breeze game then sky blue and and clouds work well. You then should look into the appearance. Textures and patterns, never block colours. You should also never put text over your buttons. Ever.
  13. Not really. It all depends on your combat ways. Most RPGs go for your skill triangle, but it all depends on the combat experience you want. People tend to go for the ways you say without thinking it through, but individual customisation or even a complete rewrite of the system might be needed depending on your game's themes or ideas. I don't know anything about your project, though, so I wouldn't know.
  14. IMO, a bow shouldn't require collecting arrows, it limits combat and makes grinding even more tedious. If you have a wooden bow, fire wooden arrows with steel tips, if you have a mythril bow, fire wooden arrows with mythril tips, so on and so forth, but then you should have a mega-legendary bow made of silver that fires silver arrows with diamond tips. If you did need silver to kill a werewolf then make an entirely different arrow type that's purely silver and comes as a single item that fires infinite arrows. You'd need to make arrows weaker than mellee, though, otherwise the distance is a huge advantage and makes the mellee crowd obsolete.

  16. Lord Bonk had recently purchased an old Victorian house. He went to view the house as was agreed by the current owner, and was suprised to find the house empty and unlocked. He stepped into the cold hallway and heard a faint chanting. _"I'm gonna bite your arms off, I'm gonna bite your legs off, I'm going to bite your head off, I'm gonna eat you up."_ A shiver went down his spine. He followed the noise into the hallway and up the staircase. _"I'm gonna bite your arms off, I'm gonna bite your legs off, I'm going to bite your head off, I'm gonna eat you up."_ The fear of what lay in waiting fleeted across his incredibly sharp mind ans he heard the chanting once again in the corridor. _"I'm gonna bite your arms off, I'm gonna bite your legs off, I'm going to bite your head off, I'm gonna eat you up."_ He stepped into the bathroom, sweat across his brow as he heard the chant again, the sound swelling in his ears. _I'M GONNA BITE YOUR ARMS OFF, I'M GONNA BITE YOUR LEGS OFF, I'M GONNA BITE YOUR ARMS OFF, I'M GONNA EAT YOU UP._ He flung open the bathroom cupboard, and to his shock there was… A MAN EATING JELLY BABIES!
  17. Nice enough, but the colours of the trees look a little off. You could try a less yellow hue, perhaps. I know it's not the trees, but the grass tiles are mega-repetitive. Other than that they're great. Palette works well and they're really detailed and well thought out. Good work :)

    Swaggernauts

People flying around in Space and other planets killing whoever inhabits it at the time. If you have different factions of Spacey-people you can have planets they've taken over - Remember that anything is yours if you can stick your flag in it. Riding about in cartoon rockets with pointy red fronts might be a good idea, as well as fighting those retro tin-robots we all know and love :D Watch a few old 50s space films and take into account all the silliness (Like a mega-evil huge robot that can kill anyone, except if they're a main character. And the tinfoil suits. And the lasers. Yayy!). To say space is a glaringly obvious genre I'm surpised no-one's done it yet. Just make sure it has character, that's what can make or break a game such as this.
  21. If you're playing with a steady stream of friends then it's bearable at best, but it's downhill now. Jagex have tried to uprate the graphics and work out all the bugs, but for me, those where what made it fun. I remember standing in Varrock Bank, when the only difference between HD and SD was a carpet here and there, and every so often the Rune 2H you saved for would spring into one hand and your player would seem to stiffen out for no reason. Everone I know stopped playing around three years ago, at the peak of crappiness. They thought that bringing the Wilderness and free trading back would resolve that, but that's not even the start of it. If it all went back to when RuneScape had cell-shading, full Rune was 200k, the player's eyes would appear and disappear as he breathed, plate-mail had gloves and PKing was actually fun, I'd play again in a heartbeat. Doesn't look like we're ever going to go back. Play (Or make) a 2006 private server and get some friends on-board. Just like the good old days.
  22. Looks good. You need to sort the transitions out between the long and cropped grass, though. Try some overlapping blades with shadows under them to make it look taller, too. You could also have a stab at introducing a darker colour to the tall grass pallette to make it seem deeper.
  23. Tiana, you're a prime example of what we're talking about. Like Pinkamina said, it comes to you or it doesn't. You're another person who'd sacrifice another to glimpse at Robin's face. Your personal title was 'Robin is my dream prince', for God's sake. **That is not normal.** I remember when I tried adding different spawn points and you wrote that you laughed at my attempts to program. It might be a shock to you, but most of us here think you're messed in the head. I still can't believe how mental you went when you saw Robin in a suit. I bet he's scared of what you did with that photo. You might think you've got a high social standing by imitating an idiot you saw a picture of over the internet, but you're in for a rude awakening.
  24. It's like talking to a brick wall. It's obviously not who you really are. It couldn't be, anyway **as I have already said**. Try finding somewhere constructive to vent your frustration and don't take it out on me. [/Stupid argument]
  25. You can't tell me you'd talk to people the way you do in Eclipse whilst you're not on the internet. If you did you'd be friendless, jobless and probably homeless too. If you're the 'authority figure' round here, maybe try and clean up the bad attitude. You know full well where it comes from. Think of the other legends and moderators. Gwen's nice to everyone, albeit she hates eggnog. Marsh is a good guy, Renzo's a daily source of lols, Anna doesn't go around being arsey with people, Rose doesn't call everyone an idiot everytime she can. **So why is it so beyond you to be positive to people?** Aside from your obvious ego problems, you seem to think no-one appreciates you and everyone hates what you did. You'd be appreciated a helluva lot more if you weren't such a needless twit.
