We don't really offer support for custom versions… However, it sounds like the graphic files are missing, hence the error and lack of icons. I suggest you redownload the engine and make check if the icons are there; your download might have been missing them for some reason.

Are you sure you're installing using the DX8 runtimes, not the DX7 ones? You can download them [here](http://www.glaciate.net/downloads.php?dlid=5&cat=1). Alternatively, if you're on a 64-bit machine you may need to manually register it (dx8vb.dll) in /SysWOW64/.

Hm… Sorry. No idea. It sounds simple enough though. Hopefully someone else can help.. 

Have you tried just looking at how it's done in Eclipse, since that's all windowed and uses BMPs? I can't help too much as I don't have VB6 or Eclipse installed.

The passes look more like vertical climbs rather than cut-throughs. Try a shallower perspective and shading from the back.

All of those tiles are so high in contrast it hurts to look at for more than a few seconds. :/

The only tile that doesn't hurt my eyes is the cliff face (which looks really good, by the way)… They're all too 'busy' and the tiles have high contrast.

Delete the files in the /maps/ folder (server side).
