  1. Why not add a Key landmark? Something like a huge ass object that marked the place where the Magnus found magic and we can go from there.
  2. Are programmers free to choose what engine they want to use in coding this game?
  3. Well if we're focusing on the Story aspect of the game which will make it unique we need to come up with a unique and rich world. Something that seems familiar yet different at the same time. I actually want to expound on the Background story more. Specifically what happened in the 300 years between the game's current events and the Seal. What did everyone do during those years? How far has technology progressed during that time? Was space travel created? Some key catastrophic event that shaped the land the way it is today? Was there any notable discoveries in the fields of Agriculture? Medicine? Technology? Have new empires risen? Factions seeking to make a name for themselves? Are there city states? Those sort of things.
  4. Have you considered throwing in science into the mix? I think since the absence of magic it would only be natural for them to start developing an alternative means to making their lives easier. We can also explore how magic can fit into a world where science has become the norm. Or their coexistence with one another. We could go with something like what borderlands 1,2 and Elder scrolls franchise are doing with the storyline. Sprinkling them all over the place so that the player can do several simultaneously and have the rest of the story adjust accordingly on what quests the player has done so far.
  5. I think It would greatly help me or other writers if we expanded more on the Overview of what the game is about. For example take this Overview of a game I'm conceptualizing on called Infinity Horizon. Notice how the Premise is something simple defined in a single sentence. The Overview will expand on that without sounding long and going into the technical stuff (that's reserved for the Design Document). > Premise:Giant Space Ships shooting lasers at each other in space. > > Overview. > > Infinity Horizon is an Isometric, multiplayer online battle arena game where the player controls a single ship in a team or fleet of 6 warships with the goal of destroying the other team's Flagship while protecting their own. Each team has a single Flagship guarded by two powerful escort ships which the player and his or her team must defend from enemy assault while attacking the enemy fleet's Flagship. > > The player starts with assembling a crew to man his or her ship, and then assembling the ship itself based on several base types and finally choosing from three starting factions The Illumna, A ruthless empire, the 'bad' guys who fight to unite humanity and enslave everything else under the rule of the true Emperor who they think is the only hope of mankind. The Colonial Separatists, A group of governments strongly opposing the Illumna, Or the Vagabonds, a faction composed of Mercinaries,Theives and various other forms of scum united only under a mysterious leader, The Shogun. Each faction has it's own strengths and weaknesses which can determine how the player preforms in battle. Here the overview briefly describes what the game is about, How it's played and A brief introduction to the three major factions. I personally prefer to build my worlds from Large details such as the details of the planetary system such as how many planets, etc towards smaller details such as planet population, number of cities in a planet,Planet fauna/flora,etc. Until I get to the point I start making major and minor characters usually saving the NPC's for last. Also have you thought about how game play will work? How you'll differentiate it from other 2D fantasy MMORPG's out there? What's a core game play feature that's unique to Shalaren that isn't found anywhere else? Does it have visual novel elements mixed in, Or is it purely a generic MMORPG game play? That sort of thing.
  6. Oh ok. But to save the writers some trouble can you write down every detail we need to know to make our work easier? Actually. I think the only real question I have is the time period. Can you give something like Background Story:Happened 300 years ago. Pause of 500 years Before next significant event. Significant event 1:Happens 800 years after the background story. Or a rough timeline leading to the first chapter from the background story.
  7. Hmm. I can't seem to get the gist of what's happening in the first chapter after a few attempts at reading it. I can't seem to get the time period this is set up. How old are the Magnus exactly through out the story? How long does the backstory span? How many years have passed since the events of the Background story? The two captains from the magic force. Why are they fighting the Order? Or where they originally opposed to it in the first place? If so why? Where they even in the same time period as the Magnus? How old are they? You lost me at half way into the second spoiler. Can you reword it? Those are the only questions I can come up with so far. I'll reread the chapter again to try and get the gist of it tomorrow and ask you anything else before I start work on it again.
  8. Alright. I'm ready to write them whenever. I dunno. Most of the names there we're just vomited up just to make it sound more…interesting when I read it. They don't really mean anything other than sounding cool.
  9. Ok so to start I decided to re-write the Background story into something more or less thrilling. I'm only going to implement proper grammar once it's finalized. Shalaren: Background Magic. One of the greatest mysteries of this world, from simple magic capable of levitating objects off the ground to conjuring powerful lightning storms. It takes on many forms and yet it is bound by none. To use such mysterious and sometimes terrifying power one must have the right knowledge, understanding and mentallity to control it. However not everyone is born to use it as it is a birthright only granted to a few. The eight Magnus Soci (Pronounced So-kai) the very first weilders of magic filled with tremendous powers, were the to first discover the mysterious forces of magic, How they had done so remains a mystery. Each of the Magnus Soci had seen it fit to pass on their knowledge to students who in turn taught to their own students and slowly magic had become more widespread in the world of Shalaren. Magic had made living much easier, creating vast improvements in the fields of Agriculture, Travel and most importantly in Warfare. People were quick to notice that magic was also useful not only in improving lives but in taking them as well. The Order of the Maestre founded by the eight Magnus Soci the first wielders of magic had seen over the years the caos that magic had caused and thus they created the Shroud,An elite force of sorcerers with only one task. To regulate the use of magic from the shadows. The Shroud did their work well. Too well for that matter as many magical users had been slain by their religious zeal to fufill their duty to the Maestre. Soon it had become an unspoken rule that those who use magic, regardless of their position or occupation will be swiftly silenced permenently. The Maestre thinking that the Shroud's actions had solved their problem had breathed a sigh of relief. The world was finally at peace. How very wrong they were. Soon leaders from all over the world had begun to rise up in open revolt to fight for their freedom to use magic. The Eight Magnus Soci sought to calm these leaders through peaceful negotiations, However they could not be swayed by mere words and thus they had to be silenced by force. With a heavy heart they gave the order and the Shroud sprung into action silently stiffling the voices of the rebellion. At least that was the initial plan. The major powers of the rebellion had managed to convince some of the more prominent and powerful Sorcerers to join their cause and a vicious and terrible battle ensued between the sides that rallied to the Maestre's flag and those who opposed them. The rampant use of magic by both forces had caused reality to shift and dissolve causing most individuals to descend into madness. Lucius, A Magnus Soci and a very well educated Sorcerer and also a well known leader in the Shroud, had managed to create a spell to limit the use of magic throughout the world. The raging flames of war had been cooled. Everyone's magical abillity had begun to weaken slowly over the course of days, some even losing their abillity to use magic completely. The Enchanter's Seal as they called it brought peace throughout the land. The leaders of the uprising had accepted their loss of access to magic seeing as even the Eight Magnus Soci were stripped of their own magical abillity. And thus peace took it's hold on the land. At least for awhile… The other Seven Magnus Soci resented their loss of magical abillity and demanded Lucious to break the Seal. They claimed that they were wrong and that humanity needed magic as the people had grown too accostomed in using it. However their true goal was power, Power over the weak and to be looked upon as Gods among men. Lucius begged them to give the seal a chance, It will bring peace he argued but his pleas fell on deaf ears. The Magni rallied upon those still loyal to them and formed a new union which they called the "True Order". Knowing that Lucious' death would destroy the seal as he was the one that had created it. Although the Magni who opposed Lucious only held a shadow of the power they once weilded they still managed to consolodate all their powers into one last powerful spell of destruction. Lightning struck the earth violently, the earth split asunder and the winds howled in rage. All this just to kill one. Lucius however had managed to gather those loyal to him within the Shroud and as destruction raged around them he was protected by the powerful magic of his allies. Lucious knew that the seal was the cause of this madness and that only he could control it. Upon realizing this it was up to him to seal himself and the rest of the Magni forever. The Seal held great magic poweful enough to entomb the Magni in a powerful spell sealing them away for all eternity and scattering them through out the landscape to be forgotten throughout time. However the True Order remained, creating chaos driven by only one purpose, To break Enchanter's Seal. However few had risen up against the tyrnical Order intending to thwart their plans of breaking the seal. These brave men and women are the Heroes of Shalaren and it is up to them to stop the Order and trully bring peace to this world.
  10. Can you summarize the story in 3 to 4 sentences? Edit:Or you can give me something like. The game about giant space ships shooting lasers at each other. Something simple like that would do and then I could just expound or develop from there.
  11. I can write Back stories and NPC dialogue. I would offer to program but I'm not that used to Eclipsed yet.
  12. I'm interested. Here is my portfolio for consideration. [http://placidogdd.blogspot.com/](http://placidogdd.blogspot.com/)
  13. I am confused. What engine are you using for this? If anything else I'll probably apply for a minor writing role.
