  1. The charger to my laptop broke and I haven't been able to work on anything in a few weeks. Finally got around to getting a new one. Thanks for all the comments, don't know what happened to the link, I no longer see it. I'll be getting back to work on everything soon, but with MW2 coming out in 9 days, I may get a little sidetracked :) If anyone has xbox live my gamertag is iTz Acoliite

  3. Thanks Tyr :) I understand what you were getting at Anna. I've improved a lot of the cliffs and edited my main post with a new example of how most of the cliffs are looking now. Tell me what you think and thanks for the feedback :)
  4. Hi, some of you may have seen my other thread previewing a few of my tiles for a (still) unnamed game I am working on. I haven't updated it in a while, and decided to make a whole new topic showing a small section of the starting area. If you want to see a higher quality visit my other thread [http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,51554.0.html](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,51554.0.html) -Overview- The starting area is a safe zone (no pvp) for players levels 1-20 (subject to change). Once players leave the starting area everywhere is pvp zone except towns. Middle Left: The path leads further to the nearby town. This is the town players start in (after finishing the short tutorial) Top: Pirate Territory. Has the highest level npcs in the starting area. The cave at the top is the first dungeon players will encounter including a few bosses all with class-specific drops. In order to be effectively taken down at least 3 players will need to work together. The top drops for the starting area will be dropped here. Bottem Left: Leads to the lumberjack's hut, which gives a quest that once completed, unlocks the Lumberjack skill. Bottom Right: Leads out of the starting area. Follows down a long path littered with bandits and coyotes. Several other towns and a capital city will be made before final release. I have been hard at work on my project. Working on it in my spare time between school, friends, and family. I have absolutely no intention of abandoning my project. I could really use the use of spriters and scripters. I have so many ideas for this project that can't be made possible without an advanced coder. Since the ideas are not limited to the tiles, because I can make more to fit them, the possibilities are endless. If anyone is interested at all send me a message and include some examples of your work. If you are a scripter or coder tell me what games you have worked on.   5. Edit: FIXED IT! IT STOPPED DOING IT WHEN I RESTARTED MY COMPUTER THIS MORNING. THANKS FOR TRYING TO HELP GUYS ![](http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/5664/glitche.jpg) When my character logs in the instant I get in the game it shows a level up and a 0 that floats up above my head until it reaches the top of the map. The level up image stays above my head and won't go away. It just started doing it and hasn't given me this problem at all before. I've restarted the server countless times and it still does it. Before it started I was working on some of my new graphics with the server still up and I got 2 errors and I *think* they were error 9. Anyone know how to fix this? EDIT: I've also noticed animations won't work now either

  7. I don't want players to be able to sprint in my game. So how do I make it so that sprinting can't be done?

  11. Seems that some people think my short grass is too bright. So I made it 10% darker to see what you guys think of it. Which is better, the brighter or the darker grass? Edit: Preview of some stone walls and stone path within the next few days, depends on how much I feel like making tiles.
  12. So I would really like to use scrolling for my game, but it seems that no one uses it. Why? I think the world in my game would seem and look much better if I had scrolling maps. With scrolling maps, I can make objects realistically bigger without it seeming cluttered like it would with non-scrolling maps. I think that with scrolling maps I could make pvp better because you wouldn't have to constantly be moving between maps. Rivers in real life are much bigger than just a few tiles wide and with scrolling maps I could make them much bigger without taking up the entire map. These are just a few reasons why I think my game would be better with scrolling. So what are your reasons that I should not use scrolling maps? There must be some downsides to it since no-one uses them.

  14. the sprites you made are facing up in the spots where they are supposed to face down, and they're facing down in the spots they are supposed to be facing up. Just switch them and you'll be good to go.

  17. Thanks for the compliments :azn: I was sort of going for a cartoon feel. I just finished the first of the mountains. I will post a second preview map and try to use as many of the newer graphics as I can on it. It will probably be posted when I've finished at least 2 types of mountains, 1 water type, and some more scenery.
  18. Thanks for the comments :cheesy: I've updated it for the third time with some newer stuff like the single logs, wood stacks, and more plant variety. I've also added more detail to the fence, will probably change it more later since it still seems a bit off.
  19. I'm going to keep the black outlines because I want my game to look more unique and I think that kind of gives it a different style than others. :) I don't think it's that bright, it may just look that way because it's surrounded by the black background of the forums.
  20. It's hard to tell, but the outlines around the trees are only 1 pixel thick, it only looks that way because the outer part of the wood is darker. I will probably change that later. Is it bothersome that there is no outline around dirt? Because my plan was to make grass-dirt transitions have no outline. EDIT: I've updated it now. I've changed the outer edges of the trees to a lighter color so it doesn't make the outline look thicker. I've also added an outline to the grass around the dirt. Thanks for the feedback Kreator I think it looks better now :)
  21. Hello, I'm Acoliite. This is my first post on here! :D I recently started working on a game and decided I wanted completely custom graphics game. I've already got the story pretty fleshed out and if all goes according to plan my game should be very unique from other games in terms of graphics and gameplay. Since the game is in its early stages I would like to use this thread for feedback and suggestions on how I can improve my graphics and mapping. This is so I can make my game the best it can be. :D I won't be releasing details on the storyline but I can assure you it will tie in nicely with the game and the world. I am looking for a sprite artist that can match my style as closely as possible to create the characters, enemies, and npcs (since spriting is where I lack the most). So if anyone is interested please send me a message. Here is the first screenshot, using graphics that I made today. Not all graphics have been used but I tried to put as many as I could in while still keeping the map aesthetically pleasing.
