Well, I've been working on new tiles for Squiddle Online. This isn't an actual map in the game, just showing the tiles:Please ignore the missing pixel of colours all the way to the left, it does that.Please help make these better by commenting, suggesting, and recreating. Also note that this isn't all of the tiles, I have much more, such as houses, fences, water, deserts, etc. Here's a small demo:Ok I really only posted them because I needed to move them from my labtop to my computer ^.^. Doesn't have to be every tile, but make like a special grass tile with detail to scatter here and there, just to break the solid color. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Anna Comnena Posted January 8, 2009 Share Posted January 8, 2009 No. Here I'm going to make an edit of that screenshot to show what I mean. I just took a grass tile, then took a darker green color than the base, and made a few lines to give the feeling of scraggly long grass tufts. I only did one type, if you do a few more you can use them more often without them being repetitive.The point is it breaks the solid color, but with your art style you don't want to have too much texture, either. Squiddle Posted January 9, 2009 Author Share Posted January 9, 2009 Well, we had an old one, Squiddle Online WITHOUT THE SLYME INVASION, and it didn't have custom tiles, music, etc. And the graphics didn't mix at all. But still, we loved it. But then a virus attacked and wiped it, so now I'm rebuilding. Currently building a few music peices, well you know, when I'm nottiling ^.^. UPDATED WITH NEW SCREENSHOTS! They're the most recent ones from the game, but there might be changes later. Maby try makeing it a lighter color or something.Edit: I decided to see what was bugging me about your fence by messin with it in paint and i decided it was the dotted line goin down the center. Chief Posted January 9, 2009 Share Posted January 9, 2009 gradients = no…there is no shading... makes for less depth and detail.these tiles should be taken to with consideration for each and every pixel... that's how they're supposed to be done... unless you're going for this "interesting" look.
