Make sure when your connecting to the client the ip is either
127.0.0.1 or localhost

When you want other  people to connect to your game, you must give them your IP adress, but in this situation login with either of those two IP's instead, and let me know if that helped

> if you don't have a router and you have dial-up internet you need hamachi regardless, i have had experience with that before, thank god i upgraded to cause my internet used to run at 46.6 KBPS max.

46.6kb?? Jesus. *gives Band Aid*

Don't use Hamachi, though. Use a no-ip; Hamachi only let's 20 people or so sign up with it, before you have to start paying or something stupid.

sometimes local networks block contacting themselves looping back through the internet. run your server and then go to www.canyouseeme.org and type in the port, the website will say if its been port forwarded correctly, in which case dont worry only you are being blocked and other internet users will be able to get on, while you'll have to use a local network i.p.
