Guest
Whats your oponion on classes, for like a dungeon runner kinda game, go into a dungeon, fight, come out, upgrade, back in… Alot, or not to many? I think not to many, just the basics for THAT sort of game, 2 type of healers, 1 wow druid all around like class, 2 tanks, 2 dps, and 2 ranged, thats what I think, whats your opinoin? azure
I'd go heavy on the classes. Also add some skill mixing, Ie: some skills work for more than one class. Dungeon crawlers can be boring, so give the class system something to make the whole thing fun.
Guest
so like alot, and lots of mixtures? gotcha.
azure
Yeah study the class system in G. U. it'll give you some ideas too. Have you played much Final fantasy?
Guest
love final fanatsy, not to familar with the class system but i think i see where ur trying to go…auctally, I think im going to use all there classes...
azure
I wouldn't steal their concepts so blatantly I'd suggest playing Tatics A/A2 and re working the system to match your game style. I've tried to take things from a lot of the rpg's I've played over the years when working on mine. The toughest thing I've found is keeping everything balanced. Khachaturian
For a dungeon crawler, I'd say make a ton of classes, or even dual-classing, PLUS races or something, as the aspect of dungeon crawling can be unnappealing to many, and the many classes could bring those people in. azure
I disagree with Robin, anything is possible if you put enough thought into it. DDO(anything D&D really) is good for this kind of "research* I mean it was the beginning of Rpg's as we know them.
Zyvo
I would suggest using basic and simple classes for this.Classes like:WarriorPriestArcherNecromancerDefenderI would also suggest having no more then 5 classes for this, very simple game. Also, what would be the story? Kinda like Diablo? Except having 100 levels?
