Ok for YOU to play on your sever on the same computer you have to have 127.0.0.1 in your client.ini.

For ME to play i have to have your ipchicken ip address in my client.ini.

Your 192.168.1.2 or whatever the last number you are using is your local area IP. It is how other computer on your network would talk to that computer. You have to set your computer to use that 192 ip address as a static ip. If you dont its possible for your computer to grab a new 192 address the next time you turn on your computer.

Lets say your ipchicken address is this 44.123.45.134  they way it works is this….

(internet) 44.123.45.134  -> router -> 192.168.1.2 -> computer/server

127.0.0.1 is called the loopback ip. All it does is connect to itself. that is why when you are playing on the same computer as your eclipse server you use 127... it loops back to yourself.

Make sure your computer/server is actually using the same ip as what you have in your router. go to start -> run and type cmd... in the black screen type ipconfig. make sure that matches. Or manually put in the 192 address you have in your router into your network connections settings.

Make sure your router is not using 192.168.1.1  that address is the address of your router.

I hope I didnt confuse you... i sometimes speak my own language!

Thank you, it helped. But..

How do I set my computer to use the 192 ip address as a static ip?

And you said, "Make sure your router is not using 192.168.1.1  that address is the address of your router."
Well, here is my router applicants & gaming page:

Is this what you mean?
If so, 192.168.1.1\. is pre-written, if that's the word, under IP Address. How do I make that not the IP there?

If you don't mean there, where?

Ok your router is forwarding to 192.168.1.100\. That is good!

When I said don't use 1.1 I ment make sure you are not forwarding to 1.1\.

Now we need to make sure your computer is setup to use 192.168.1.100\.

open my computer and click on my network places on the left.
You might have a link to my networ places in your start menu too, and you can also find it in control panel.
![](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/pics/80d945e4e757628da988746f12ec30e7.JPG)

Then click on view network connections on the left
![](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/pics/d5b6ea1c5e1dc300c546607747c154e3.JPG)

then right click on your nic (local area connection) and go to properties… depending on how many nics you have installed you might have more than one to choose from. make sure you right click on the nic that says connected.
![](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/pics/31a9ead20610ddc4fd06fed0a1c57a87.JPG)

double click on TCP/IP it should be at the bottom of the list.
![](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/pics/72800639c939f9c6fbc2c49790c06f9e.JPG)

Click use the following ip address and put in this information.

if you have problems viewing websites after doing this then put in 192.168.1.1 in the use this dns field but you shouldnt have to worry about that.

to go back to the way you were setup before just change the button back to obtain ip and dns automatticaly.

I dunno about being connected locally yet… I'm not exactly sure what it is. I'm not really technologically smart. :3\. When I click my internet icon in my taskbar, I don't see a local thing, I just see the network or whatever my mom set up.

I use 2.7.

Ok first before we get your friends to connect lets make sure you can connect.

First of all what OS are you using? I assume since you have tcp/ip ipv6 you have vista

go to the server folder and start the server. Also while you are there check your data.ini and make sure that the port says 4000\.

If everything loads up fine then go to the client folder and edit the config.ini. Put in 127.0.0.1 in the ip section.

save it and then start the client. try to make an account and log in… You should be standing in the middle of a black box. If you can start everything without any errors you are ready to have your friends connect.

It works! Thank you! You've helped a lot.
And thank you to everyone else who tried to assist me! Yay.

Well, before I burst with joy, I should probably get some people to test it out.
And before I upload this- In my zipped Client folder that I upload, if I add a notepad document for people to read (Like some sort of read me) will that work or will it break the rest of the stuff?

well really you could just copy your client folder and rename it to say local for you to use.

Then go to your "client" folder and change the config.ini IP setting to your ipchicken ip and then zip that up and give it to your friends… then they dont have to worry about seting up the ip. They would just need the library files. just put those in your client folder and tell them to install them.

If you want me to test I can but it would have to be later. If you want to pm me your ip feel free.

Okay, instead of 'local', I will use the term downloadclient and for the "client" (first client), I will simply say client, just to avoid confusion.

So, do you mean I copy my client, and PASTE it for a copy, then zip THAT one up?
And could I just do sent to–compressed zipped folder, because otherwise I dunno how to zip a folder.

Ok for your friends to play they have to have a copy of the client. If you want to send them your client with all your information put in then you would have to edit your config.ini IP filed to have your IPchicken address. Then zip that entire dirctory and then send that to your friends along with the ELI library installer.

But for you to play… you will need to change your config.ini IP field back to 127.0.0.1\.
If you are ok with this then you dont have to copy anything.

Another way to get your fiends to play is just tell them to come here... download eclipse, and tell them to change the ip field themselves.

Does that make sense?

I hope this is what you mean. What I did is, I went to the config and changed the IP field to my ipchicken. Now I went back and zipped my client folder (I hope that's what you meant by 'directory') and I uploaded it. Now I changed my IP filed in config back to what it was before.
Try it?
