gamerdudedude
Is it nooby or stupid/lazy to use the RMXP sprites that come with eclipse and on the extended spritesheet and the BigSpritesWithDragons.bmp and only make a few custom sprites? What does everyone think? (or everyone who can be arsed to post on this)
Adulese Games
Personally, I dislike RMXP sprites. While they look good, they are far too limiting when trying to match styles. I, like Robin and many others, enjoy the old small tiles with 32x32 sprites. They just are more fun to use and easier to work with.- Adulese
Admiral Refuge
Yeah, I agree with Adulese; I've always been a fan of the 32x32 sprites, rather than the RMXP ones. This doesn't mean a game made with RMXP sprites would be bad, as there's much more to a game than the sprites. Anna Comnena
Well from a mapper's viewpoint, the RMXP graphics are probably the most versatile; and you can always find matching tiles that don't come with the Eclipse sheets (although people seem to fail at this at times too).I think you could make a decent game with RMXP graphics; but since you didn't devote time on more unique graphics, you need to make sure your game is stellar in other ways – balance, great maps, general fun.
