My best advice to you would be,

1\. Look around at Planetsourcecode.com for source examples and then experiment with said code.
2\. Have a look at the eclipse source code and then try to understand how it works, experiment with it, make your own basic edits.. Maybe even insert a few edits from tutorials to get the hang of it.
3\. Experiment.

Thats how I learned it too, except for step 1 ;)

Step one is a must, i took that path just the same way how Wabbit advised.

Ever since I came to this forum, people have said "no one will do it for you".
So yeah, the easiest way for anything to get done, is to do it yourself.
