viciousdead
I'm working on some spell animations, but I could really use some examples to refer to for making ICE pixel art… If anyone can help me with it would be greatly appreciated. :embarrassed:
Jeff
look at pixel art of ice in RMXP RMVX and other tilesets/sprites and learn from them. Look at ice in real life. There isn't a tutorial for everything.
Godlord
![](http://guidesmedia.ign.com/guides/17508/images/DSC00156.JPG)An example from Pokémon. The colours to use are generally white to light blue, since they will help you make your art feel "cold", which is exactly what you want for icy environments. As with water an important effect might be reflection (although for mirror reflections, where you basically see yourself, you have to programme this feature), and as ice is simply frozen water, you want to make it look like frozen water.![](http://www.coolantarctica.com/gallery/scenic/Seaice%20formation/Antarctica_sea_ice_forming2.jpg)Here's some ice at Antartica. What you might notice is the reflection of the light, which you can also represent. A way to break the monotony also presents itself in this image: cracks. The use of the colour grey would be an option as well (if you require it).Yours faithfully Stephan. RyokuHasu
looks like you will be doing standard pixel art with a blue-white pallet. and just use the Mask color to show transparent centers and such. For slippery Ice a lot of games use transparent or light blue tile with diagonal white lines.
