Jaiden
@dragorn128:> It costs money?![](http://knowyourmeme.com/system/icons/554/original/facepalm.jpg?1248715065)Okay. Portfowarding opens a port in your network so that people can connect to your server. Read that tutorial. _Completely._ Go on portforward.com and read up on how to do it. It varies based on what router you have.

Medleyy
Also, make sure the client you're trying to connect with doesn't have 127.0.0.1 in it's config file. And make sure you have a [static IP](http://portforward.com/help/setup_static_ip_address.htm) or use [No-IP](http://www.no-ip.com/). Read through all of portforward.com's gubbins about what portforwarding is, how it works, ect. It's genuinely more helpful than you'd think. Have a look through all of No-IP's boomph as well. It takes the confusion away somewhat.

Medleyy
Shadowdeath's right. Since it's a forum of relatively high intelligence, the standards are high, just like the competitivity. If you ask for constructive criticism it's pretty much like saying "Rip my work to shreds."But if you don't cause arguments, don't ask before searching and don't post information about things you're not sure about then you'll be fine here. dragorn128
One sec guys, so my server worked when another computer in my house connected, but not when someone else in my state tries to connect. Is there any reason for it?
shadowdeath
You must actually port foward.
dragorn128
I did, I portforwarded to MY ip address with port 7001, start 7001 end 7001\. On their screen it says the server is down although I have it running.
Medleyy
Then you either have a dynamic IP or you did it wrong. Was your IP that you portforwarded 127.0.0.1?To give a brief explanation, 127.0.0.1 is the IP address that tells the computer to connect to itself. All computers have an external address (Which is used outside your router) and an internal address (In your router). Forwarding a port works like opening a door to let people connect to your router when they open the client you sent them. You portforward your own IP address and the router sends the signal to your computer to be dealt with by the server. If all the ports are blocked, only machines using your router can connect to it. If you do open the portforward door signal will come through and have a nice romantic meal with the server so tht other people can play the game.
