smb3master
i've got a question, can EE use LAN to play with others without portforwarding?cause me and my bro want to play together and at least for now we don't plan on publishing the gameand if you do have to portforward then is opening port 4000 safe? Gwen
Yes you can play on a LAN. You just use the LAN ip address of the server on the client. You only have to port forward if you are using a wan address through a router.Opening port 4000 is as safe as opening any other port on your computer. smb3master
how do you tell the LAN ip, is it the on shown at the top of the window?
Gwen
Yes I believe so. If itsays 192.168.0.xxx or 192.168.1.xxxYou can also open cmd prompt and type ipconfig. It will tell you.If you are running a client on the same computer as the server you have to use localhost for the server ip on the client. But only for the client on the same computer as the server. Gwen
Instead of putting the ipaddress 192.168.1.whatever in the client's server ip section you put the word localhost. It tells the client to look for the server on the same computer and not go on the network
