Andiii
Hey everybody. So first things first. It's been almost a whole year since I've been back, so I don't know if there was a tutorial for this or not, and the search function isn't really helpful :) If there was, please delete :(And I'm not talking about just downloading an external program, but making it replace the shitty win.7/vista version.I'm pretty sure it will work for Vista, but if not, tell me! Works 100% for Win. 7AND NO, I delete fake this image lol.![](http://i978.photobucket.com/albums/ae265/andytriplec/xppaint.png)So here goes!1) Download file from http://www.mspaintxp.com/2) Once installed go to "C:\Program Files\Paint XP" unless you changed the directory3) Copy the xp version, ignore the win.98 version and the dll files.4) Go to C:\Windows\System32 and fine "mspaint.exe" < the ABOMINATION that we will deleteHere's the tricky/complicated/annoying part and I'm going to provide a link b/c the link has lots of pictures compared to a wall of text. The reason is that TrustedInstaller will not let you delete/edit/change the system32 files unless you follow the steps provided in the linkhttp://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-7/windows-7-how-to-delete-files-protected-by-trustedinstaller/This step is to change the owner of the file from TrustedInstaller to You/administration, so you can delete the mspaint.exe5) So once you can delete the ABOMINATION!, copy the xp version into the system32 folder and go to properties of .png/.bit/.jpg file and change the default program to mspaint. It'll read the xp version now :)
deathtaker26
I missed the old xp paint, it's much easier to do pixel work on the paint from xp, and photoshop is good for recoloring but not good for actually making pixel art >_> thanks this will come in handy

Surprisingly, nobody knew of this or Google didn't spidered websites w/ this tutorial. Anyhow, I figured it out, so enjoy :)
Wing
I rather use Graphics Gale because I can see where I am placing my pixel before placing it, but I'm sure some would love to see this.
