It's not the easiest program to use, especially if you've never used it before. However, for simple edits of pre-exisiting images to create your own template, it would suffice. There are pleanty of tuts online for photoshop, even for the most simplistic of how-to's.You'll basically kill three birds with one stone, you'll learn a little about Photoshop and how to use it, you'll create your very own GUI, and then you don't have to credit anyone for their probable crappy attempt at a GUI that you're using.
