Yeah, like my previous map, everything in there has a purpose. A lot of times I see maps that are just random trees or houses all crammed together just to fill space. With NPCs in the map, it just ends up being a clutter fest. Things like the single pink flower, will be the first quest players get. Or the Mage Tower in the middle of the water, which will contain a quest to become a wizard, are all there for a reason. I just want the map to be clear and flow well. :) P.S: cool I'm being watched? lol

Finally got around to doing another map, and this time instead of just doing a random map I thought I'd make a starter map. This should be the town players first see when they start playing, so I didn't want to make it too big in order to have some space for monsters and a good number of quests. The town includes a blacksmith, tailor, potion/food vendor, and a town hall. Not everything is symmetrical or perfect, but I did my best! Tell me what you guys think. :)

Alright! So, I'm gonna have some time off again, and I plan on doing some more mapping. However, this time I want to use some of the tiles I've scavenged for around the boards here, but none of them seem to work when I try to use them in the game. I've changed them to .bmp and what not, but still no luck. Wondering if anyone could give me any tips on what I have to do to make them work? Thanks again everyone! P.S: If anyone wants to chat just add me on MSN or AIM :) P.S.S: PEDOBEAR!!!! :renzo: :renzo: :renzo: :renzo: :renzo: :renzo:

I love it! Looks very clean and professional! I play Tibia so I know where you're coming from. Your game looks very promising!

Cool mate, I might go with your suggestion in the future. It's become more of a problem now that I've been thinking of making roof disappear once a player goes inside a house per say. Though I'm sure that would be a lot more problematic since the tiles would have to change only to the player entering the house. Thanks again!

Yeah tried my best to keep away from boxing but when you're making so many levels you kind of run out of options.
-
Oh yeah there is one! Maybe I'll add it, thanks!

Yeah I agree it may look very plain. But it was all I could do considering I used a cave tileset to fill the whole map. No trees or grass to make it pretty. :P

Cool man! The voodoo stuff placed at some of the spots is because I thought of it as sort of a Ice Troll grounds, so where you see those is where the NPCs would spawn and patrol. The cave opening has a dark ground because light doesn't really shine all the way to the floor. And yeah I still have to smooth a lot of things out. There was only so much I could do with that little a set of tiles though. :P Thanks for the critique!

So I finally decided to sit down and spend some time with Eclipse and try my hand at some mapping. Since I'm not too familiar with adding and editing tiles I just decided to use one of the default tilesets that come with Eclipse. I ended up taking the Ice cave tiles and using it for an outside mountainy cliffs type thing. Anyhow, here it is, tell me what you guys think. :)

:P I'm sure someone out there must know though… I'm gonna see if I can find a tutorial on it.

Can you explain what you mean DNA Virus? I saw the Door attribute but didn't know how it worked.

Guess I can use this thread to ask another question. Is there a way to make the tiles change when a player uses a command or key? Like a door going from closed to open?

Cool. I was worried because I'm pretty much using ground, mask 1/2, and fringe 1/2 all in the same square for a large portion of the map. :P Thanks again!
