@Jimmy: > You said auto tiles before… > In both case(autotiles and animation), Crystalshire is the best choice if you don't have a advanced knowledge in vb6 to do it by your own Oh yes, lets buy a more complicated engine that requires more programming knowledge to use because we don't know how to do things for ourselves in the less complicated version.

@Jimmy: > man. Donate 40$ to Crystalshire and get a copy of the engine. It's actually a good bit more than that in USD. Robin only accepts GBP.

This is a fairly advanced system that requires a major rewrite to your source. Best of luck with that.
  6. @Jungle: > Thanks, I was having some trouble coming up with the 'middle' thing. I actually went on synonym.com to look for one :P Great suggestion though, I'll use it. > > Yeah, its working great! Thanks for helping with the starting process :) No problem. :P Reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_craftsman This is were those terms are used most, but technically it could apply to any job or skill.
  7. I have a suggestion, do Novice, Journeyman, and Master instead. It would fit your /learning/ theme a little better imo.
  8. @Jungle: > I already have tons of ideas, just implementing them is the problem ;D Was joking. Besides 8657 is a realistic number in the above case.
  9. @Jungle: > I don't even know what the hell you guys are talking about because Kermerd keeps deleting his posts >_> > > But anyways, I just got VB6 and everything is running smoothly. All I need to do is create more basic sprites and the dungeon tilesets, then Sauros and I can set up a development server. The Alpha server will not be up for a while, so please don't ask for testing. The development server is just so that we can experiment with new features together and colaborate, maybe map later on. > > We need a programmer still who actually knows VB6 by heart, unlike me :P Inb4 you ask me to help test things and spew out 8657 ideas.
  10. @Sauros: > You'd be surprised. Alot of people cant have screen sizes that large. If you can't handle 800x600 screen resolution you probably shouldn't be trying to play games at all… lol
  11. @Sauros: > Well the only thing new is i'm starting on the GUI. I'm trying to find out a nice width/height most players have. > By the way kemerd, Quit acting like a baby and get off the thread. If you're stuck with one size, go with 800x600\.
  12. @Kemerd: > You should though. Saga of Light sucks, stop telling other people how to do things if you can't do it better yourself, and before you try to hand me the same as a rebuttal, I am. ;)
  13. @Jungle: > Thanks man! > > By the way, Sauros has joined the team as a GUI artist and mapper. I will not be accepting any more mappers, so please do not ask. We still need a programmer or a person with VB6. > > Thanks! I'm reworking all the maps now as you guys suggested. I'm not sure how I will work out dungeons though. Should it be a cave-type dungeon or a classic puzzle type dungeon? I'm liking both at the moment :P > > If I get good at Visual Basic I may implement a seed generation for random dungeons. I'll have to investigate into that later though. Many people don't agree with this, but avoid generic things like quest creators or some of the the tutorials around the forum. If you must use them try to implement them as minor aspects. The best thing to do is grab a programmer who's willing and design each area individually. This way every new place, puzzle, or enemy will be different and unique, possibly even compared to more popular games.
  14. @Madgod: > Good luck finding something like that for less than 50 bucks a month. See Brohoster. ;) They've expanded their services to more than minecraft hosting.
  15. Jungle, I think this has more potential then your original game. I'd like to see where you go with it, so keep up the work.
  16. @CursePaw: > Keep up the good work :D good to know that its not gonna be a grindfest xD Inb4 it's a grindfest. >:D

    The gay way

@ShawnyBoy: > I lol'd so hard. > > On-Topic: I keep reading these replies from Helladon, but I don't see an arguement. I just see opinions, what facts/proof do you have that it is an abomination to be homosexual? I can tell you I did not choose whether I liked males or females. My hormones did, of course you wouldn't believe that, because all of your reasoning is based souly on West Bureau Baptist Church. Anyways, who gave you the right to judge others? If I'm not mistaking, you're a christian, and again, if I'm not mistaking the bible does not tell you to do the judging, if I'm correct it's god who does the judging. It's truely sad to see so many people act in this manor. I do not understand why you cannot see homosexuals as humans, just as women and african americans are. But, I'm pretty sure it's how you're raised, growing up around a bunch of stuborn christian rednecks tends seems to have this effect. Anyways I guess that's all I have to say, and no I don't have a personal grudge against Christians. It's just most of them are senseless fools who contridict their own beliefs, EX. West Bureau Baptist Church. He was banned. His stupidity is his own. It has little to do with his environment. Secondly, why do you contradict yourself? You say you don't have a grudge against Christians, but continue on to make reference to a specific church.
  18. @Jungle: > Rowling still sues people who use similar names as Harry. She sued a guy for making an Indian musical called "Harri Puttar", which had nothing to do with Harry Potter besides the name… So yeah, their lawyers are crazy. > > I'm going to change this to a game with gameplay similar to Harry Potter, not exactly a Harry Potter game. I don't want to risk a legal battle I can't fight. Gotta love how Intellectual Properties work. :) Though suing over /names/ is a bit extreme. lol

    The gay way

@Robin: > The point is that Helladen seems to believe that modern society is natural. > > Claiming something is 'unnatural' because it's not seen as the social norm in this age of computers and communication is just short-sightedness and ignorance of our past. Although I really can't expect any more from a rigid Christian. > > Being gay is a perfectly natural thing which has a huge number of uses in the animal kingdom - a place which _is_ actually natural. > > [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mammals_displaying_homosexual_behavior](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mammals_displaying_homosexual_behavior) > > I won't bother repeating the uses of gay and lesbian couplings in nature. Go read up on it if you're genuinely interested. > > In the end this comes down to the ol' "Evolutionists vs. Creationists" argument. The religious nuts believe that being gay is against God's way and that, for some arbitrary reason, is wrong. As such they penalise these people for being born in this way and completely contradict their own beliefs of a loving deity. > > The evolutionists give solid scientific proof that homosexuality is a perfectly natural variation in nature's order of sexuality. I really shouldn't have to point out that variety is what keeps this planet alive. I may go back later and rewrite my post so that it makes more sense. I really wanted to point out that modern day heterosexuals are just as unnatural if not more so then any homosexual person. If we're going to deal in absolutes lets do it right, eh? The golden rule of Christianity: Treat others how you want to be treated. The truth about what most Christians do: Oust and condemn everyone who's different for any reason.

    The gay way

It seems I missed a lot. Personally I feel that intercourse is intended for reproduction. With that in mind I have to admit that homosexual intercourse is unnatural. (M/M and F/F). At the same time this also means that I find several sexual acts unnatural, because they do not end in conception. Now to my point, even though I think this and openly admit to my thoughts I do not think that homosexuality is wrong, nor do I think that anything I just said is "Wrong". If I were to make that assumption then I would have to believe that I am better than many other people in the world, just because I believe the things I do. As with the example above, I too often use cookware for things other than their intended purposes, and usually it works out very well. This clearly means that although there are some commonly accepted ways to do things they aren't necessarily the "right" ways for everyone. So is it wrong to be gay? No. Is it unnatural in the long run? Considering the argument that homosexuality both fights over population and provides a potential family to orphans and unwanted children then no. If anything it's more natural and possibly something worth praise.
