Exactly, which is where the whole 'detailed' and 'professional' map thing comes in. Crappy map would be only graphics, detailed being with a few well placed NPCs and professional having NPCs scripted tiles, the works

So really, give it about… 1-2 hours for crappy maps 3-4 for detailed maps 5+ for professional maps

Very true, which is why you'll need a reliable computer. Don't just buy any computer and say 'this is my new server' you need a computer that you can keep running for hours on end with little monitoring needed. This means you need to be careful what you buy, and where you buy it from. Like they said in above posts, it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to hours before your server loads all the maps again, so you don't want to have to shut it off very often (or at all XD )

It all depends on your computer. Remember that 30k maps takes a lot of computer space, even with nothing on them. My suggestion: if you're crazy enough to have that many maps, be crazy enough to fork out some money to have a separate server tower (second computer used only for running the server) and run some high speed internet through your house to prevent server lag. You won't need to buy anything for the server tower, because you can switch stuff like your mouse, keyboard and monitor between the two computers, but I would suggest having a second set so that you have quick and easy access to both computers.

I'm not looking for someone to make the whole code. I need to learn. What I need is a few pieces of what should be in the code to get me started. Anyone can contribute any part of what I need, and please don't tell me how stupid my request is… I know it's stupid. This might tie into (or be completely supposed to be in) scripting. If so, please just tell me that the part goes into _____ (or move it if the whole thing should be done in code) 1: How do I make it so that it saves how many 'skill points' the player has in each skill 2: How do I make it so that one skill opens others 3: How do I make it so that when you add points to a skill it alters other files for that player alone (such as stats or how an ability works) 4: *insert missing various help here* I'm just trying to learn some basic syntax, commands, etc. thanks
