Ok, now a to guide on making a great game! If you do not wish to read what the server tells you then read this! Part 1: Creating your account! First off, bring up your server, what you should do next is make your account, after that create your character, log off of Eclipse and go to the "Server" Folder and go to "Acccounts" and then the .ini file whic has your account name on it. Once you open the .ini file, change your access to 4(God) or 5(Creator) They are pretty much the same, but Creator just gets a yellow name and can change access of a God. Then you may log onto your game and start editing! I recomend you learn the commands before you do anything too serious. Part 2: Administrational Commands! Now, on to your commans. They are simple to remember! /Mapeditor - To edit/create your maps. /Edititem - To edit/create your items. /Editnpc - To edit/create your npcs /Editarrow - To edit/create your arrows. /Editspells - To edit/create your spells. /Editelement - To edit/create elements. /Editshop - to edit/create maps /Setsprite spritenum -To change your sprite (e.g /setsprite 192) They are your basic administrational commands! There is one other important command you should know! the Administrator Panel, F1. Part 3: Running your server, and editing your map! Now, in order for your game to get alot of players(other then having the game to its limit as best as possible) is your server time, you should try and have your server running 24/7\. Now, I cannot run a server, seeing as though my server gets a Run Time error. But if your server is down rarely, then you should have a great game! Seeing as though most people have their server up 24/7 I think most of you sould too! Now if you have someone running your server for you, make sure they are reliable. Now, on to editing your map! First off, you should basically try and get someone to help you map your game, and make sure they make good maps. If it takes them 15 minutes or 2 hours, it shouldn't matter to you, it just matters on how good they are. So, remember Maps will count! Part 4: Sprites and Paperdoll! Now, if you are making an Isometric game, then this will be tough to have your sprites and paperdoll good. But if you are staying Eclipse's 2d then use Kay-No's sprites and Paperdoll. You also should have the Data.ini in your server where it says Paperdoll set to 1 so it should look something like "Paperdoll = 1" If you are making it an Isometric game then you can ask me for the sprites, I can make, and also I should be able to make your paperdoll. Now, soon I will have a section with Isometric Sprites and Paperdoll that work. I am still working on it though, but I will have it in at least a week or possibley 2 weeks. But, untill then, you should try and do it on your own. Part 5:Scritping Now, the scripting, here is probable the hardest thing when makinga game(Other than coding) I recommend learning SadScript or getting someone to help you with scripting, it took me ages to learn this, but it was worth it. I am not going to make an tutorials for SadScripting, because, I am not too good at it. But, this is what you will need to make quests, unless you wait for Eclipse Evolution. That will have a Quest Editor. But anyway, to start off good learning SadScript use Godlord's "SadScripting: The beggining" Tutorial, now this is what I used to start off learning it. Updated again! Part 6: Tutorial! Now I will start a tutorial for Eclipse! Now, the first thing once you know all of the commands and stuff I have in my guide, you might want to read this. The first thing you might want to do start making maps, I would say if you are going to have different starting maps for each, here is an example: WarriorMap=1 Imperial Castle(Basement) Wizzard: Map=4 Grand Hall of Wizzards Gaurd: Map=9 Imperial Castle(Grand Training Room) I would start off making them. Now, one other thing you would want to know before starting you maps is to focus on taking your time, remember now, this is not something where you must finish each map in 2 minutes. You do not have to use what I will say this is just an example. A basement/shop info: Ok now, I would start off using common tiles for a room, such as Broken stone tiles for the ground layer of Imperial Castle(Basement) then have a small shop in the corner to buy some potions at.(Also, to make shops type /editshop) Then after you make the shop go to the attributes on Map Editor and click on shop, (Make sure the shop number is the number of the shop you will be using)then place it where you want people to go to for the shop. After you make your shop, then continue editing you map. Now, you should put steps with a warp at the top of them for players to get to the "Imperial Castle(Throne Room)." Now, after you finish editing your basement start with the throne room, I will not tell you how to edit this. After Words/helpful hints: Anyway, if you take your time on maps then you will have more players, I will also add, before you start doing anything else serious(Sprites, GUI, Coding) Get someone to help you so you do not mess up! After you get your staff, you should start making a webiste(I prefer using Geocities, or getting a .com website(cost)). Quests: Now, on to some good quests.After making 50+ maps you should start making your quests because eventually it will get boring. Skills: After you are done getting 2-3 quests, start getting you skills. I would prefer getting the skills "Blacksmith," "Mining," and "Wood Cutting." Mining:Use a pickaxe or special iteam on a rock to obtain ores(pieces of unrefined metal) Blacksmith:This basically turns ores into metal objects(such as weapons and armor) Wood Cutting:Using an axe on a tree,you should get a type of logs,usable in help of the black smith or for side quests. Once you finish with your skills, back to making some maps. I would say getting 50(at least 100) more maps done before anything else. Afterwards,it might be a good idea for beta testing.After you release it you can continue making maps. So, by the time you get finished 500 maps it would be easier to attract players. Start placing your quests and skills.Start making your GUI and your Sprites(I would take my time) After you are done with all your sprites and GUI, start with SFX and Music(if you want). After that continuing making shops, items, npcs, Classes, and your spells. I would make as much as everything as you could think of! Now, the rest is up to you and entirely you!
