  1. Hey again guys, Since Eclipse is finally getting a couple of good games off the ground, I've decided to start working on a website focused on reviewing, promoting, and providing updates on Eclipse games made here. You can think of the website as sort of a Rolling Stone for Eclipse games. I'll feature reviews, previews, development news, and game promotions. I'm working on a free, test version of the website now. If I can get enough support from the community here to fund it, I'm willing to buy a .com domain name. If I can get it popular enough to feel like I wouldn't be ripping people off, I'm also considering offering very cheap paid "promotions" (Like maybe you're game gets featured on the front page). The core of the site would be reviews of upcoming and released Eclipse games. I would include screenshots, links to download the games, and a forum for discussion on upcoming "titles". I'd also include opportunities for players to write their own reviews of games, post their own screenshots, and generally participate in the community. At first I'm just going to focus on content. I'm building the website with a template and I'm not spending any money on a domain name yet. I'm going to put as much effort in as I can afford to do, and if you guys use the website, I will be able to make it professional, and maybe do some advertising (which would, in turn, help your games). But anyway, assuming I do a good job and put up some good content (and I'll try and finish my pilot complete with a few reviews fairly soon), would you guys visit or use a website like that? As soon as I'm done, I'll let you guys check it out.
  2. @[BS: > Бог Слона Иортай link=topic=44251.msg448799#msg448799 date=1242337975] > Oh btw, I virus scanned his gunz private server and its a trojan. Yeah, so I was sitting here, reading this thread, and trying to figure out what part of this is a scam, because I figured it had to be, it was just too fishy. Not to offend Eclipse games or anything, but, Ambardia and 1 or 2 others aside, what Eclipse game could actually earn the owner more than $200? And thanks to your virus scan, I think I've figured it out. I'd bet another $200 that what he's really trying to do is get a premade Eclipse game, put some sort of trojan/virus/malicious program in the download file, and then get people to download it. Then he could make money the way any computer thief or hacker would, stealing information (ie. your credit card #) off your computer. Don't sell.
  3. @Tsukasa: > I was searching google,as most of us. > I went to PlayerWorlds first, but after a few days, > I saw that it sucked,so I searched google again and found eclipse. > Been in love ever since. lol. I think that's how everyone finds it. :) Me too!!!

    If I… Will I... ?

If I was to start working on a game with 2.7, will there be a way to convert it to 3.0 once that's released?
  5. So wait, anyone who wants to play a game made with eclipse needs the library files downloaded? (in other words, when we release our games we should tell players to dl the library files?)
  6. @Adulese: > I shall help you mate. WWF FTW! Now lets buy some beer form their biggest sponser, Budwiser! > > - Adulese Hey, in defense of the WWF, NGO's do need money to operate, and Budweiser isn't like a logging company or something. One of their main projects is getting corporations and businesses to change their attitudes towards global warming and reduce emissions. Companies that are actually doing this have donated, as well as companies that maybe would like to seem like they're doing this. I just looked through a whole bunch of different sources to be sure. They're clean. I've raised $11 so far! Thanks
  7. Hey guys, I need to raise $200 for the **World Wildlife Fund**, hopefully by **January 12th** (to give me a few days to do the write up) for my government class. I can only make so much money selling lollipops, and there's not much money in my family to extort (;)), so I thought it would be a good idea to try raising some money online. That's where you come in. First off, **I am not asking for you to send me money or information in any shape or form**. If any of you even would send money to a stranger over an online forum, you probably need some help. All I'm asking is that those of you who can afford it and want to help a great charity, make a donation to the World Wildlife Fund, and then PM, or email me ([email protected]) the "**Order ID**" and "**Amount**" part of the receipt **OR** just **send me a copy of the email confirmation** so I can have some proof for my teacher and keep track of how much I've raised. Neither the Order ID or the email would give me access to any information about you (you can even remove your name from the email if you'd rather not disclose it). It's purely so I have proof for my teacher. **What is the World Wildlife Fund?** ![](http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/5214/worldwildlifefundlogoto3.gif) Well all the information is on their website, [**www.worldwildlife.org**](http://www.worldwildlife.org), but basically they are one of the biggest, and in my opinion one of the best, environmental conservation organizations in the world. They are not insane, say like PETA, and they focus on grassroots efforts, conservation of natural resources and endangered species, and reducing the human impact on the environment. You have probably seen some of their commercials on TV from time to time. As far as endangered species go, they focus on a few species at a time. Right now the Panda, Polar Bear, and Sea Turtles are their big things if I remember right. So in general, it's a great charity which does alot of good work. Post here if you've donated, and PM or email me with the Order ID or Email Confirmation. Again, absolutely no personal information can be derived from this, it's just to provide proof to my teacher. Happy New Years! **Money Raised: $11** **My Goal: $200**
  8. We're not hiring right now, but those are great maps. Well done.
  9. I found them. Ignore this post.

    My first map

Though for a first, it's actually pretty damn good. As for details, there's always the little flowers and things that can go as a layer over the grass. They don't really take up space, and players can walk over them, but it will give your eyes more to look at.
  11. @Lord: > wtf yes or no> No. Let me explain why. Runescape is the most cookie cutter ORPG you can find. It is fun because it has a large player base, and is made by a professional production team. It was also fun when it first came out because at the time it WAS original. Now, an Eclipse game won't ever have a large player base. If I had to guess, I'd say you probably don't have the same production skills as the people at Jagex (or anywhere else) have. Your game will come out as a sloppy, weak version of an already unoriginal mmorpg, without many (if any) players, and in violation of several copyright laws. It's really not that hard to think of your own ideas, and it's only slightly harder to practice with scripting, gfx, sfx and all the other things you need to truly make something your own. If this sounds harsh, then so be it, but if your only idea is to imitate another person's idea, which wasn't especially original as is, and to imitate it badly, then your idea wont go anywhere. I am still learning scripting, and my gfx skills are pretty limited to cut and paste and recoloring jobs (since I'm not a naturally good artist), but I absolutely refuse to make a game and brag about it until I have the skills to make it original myself. Include some things that you wouldn't normally find in an MMO, or no one will bother playing.
  12. Posted this in the wrong place before, sorry. I need some Chibi style sprites, "naked" for paper dolling and custom designing. If anyone has any, it would be appreciated. :cheesy: I'll credit whoever makes them in my game.

  14. We are proud to announce that Dr. Nova and "Star Jumper" are now part of the Fenix productions team.
  15. After a discussion with Dr.Nova, I am proud to announce that Dr.Nova and "Star Jumper" will be joining Fenix Productions. You can now get updates on both "Star Jumper", and "Novus Regnum," our other mmorpg currently in the planning and design phase, through the Fenix Productions forums. www.fenixproductions.co.nr Click on "forums" and join the community.
  16. ![](http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/7830/fenixbannerhj7lr8.png) Well, after not using Eclipse for a while, I was unable to stay away, and so I'm back. I'm currently in the early stages of designing a new game and I've set up a "production company" website to allow me to recruit a production team to help with this and future projects. Therefore I am proud to unveil, Fenix Productions. You can find the official website and forums at; http://www.fenixproductions.co.nr I stress that the game listed so far on the forum is in the INCREDIBLY early stages of development. You won't see even a Work in Progress post for a while. I've taken a name from a failed project of mine a while, Novus Regnum, (New Kingdom according to the online English to Latin Dictionaries), and in the proper area of the forums you will see a preliminary game concept and story. Anyway, you might be asking, why is Fenix making a post in the recruitment center? Well I can explain. I would like to assemble a permanent Fenix Productions team to work on this, and future, projects. I'm not going to actually request any specific jobs yet, because I know that few people with the skills to contribute to a team and make a high quality game will sign on before they see some evidence that the game will actually be good. So I'm not going to start asking for mappers or anything yet. What I will say is that IF you think you might be interested, feel free to put the burden on me. Send me a PM outlining your skills, and showing some of your past work. If it's good, I'll get back to you with screenshots and information when I have it, so we can both decide if you will be right for the team. If it's bad, or not up to the level I want, I'll probably just tell you and you can go practice and always try again when I actually officially hire people. In the meantime, I encourage anyone who's even slightly interested to look at the forums (http://www.fenixproductions.co.nr), read the early concept and story, and join the community to provide ideas and help with the design. Basically, I'd like to have a little think tank going on my forums. I think that there is a ton of potential for 2d MMORPG's to still be popular, at least with a small niche of players, because they are often free, versatile, and able to appeal to both hardcore gamers (looking for an in-depth roleplaying experience), and casual ones (looking to play a game without crashing their computers). I always like to try and incorporate some politics/economics, some roleplaying, alot of admin-player interaction, and maybe a little old fashioned Zelda or Final Fantasy style dungeon crawling. I want your thoughts and ideas on my projects. And you can count on me not giving up on it, because, as I'm graduating from high school this year, I want to have a secret hobby in college which I can not reveal to my friends. What better than "making my own multiplayer online roleplaying game." I'm holding off on making a Work in Progress post or anything because it is not really in progress, and I know how annoying it is for all of you to read another post from some smug egomaniacal 13 year old who is convinced his game is the next World of Warcraft. I'll treat you guys like business partners. I should not only have to convince you that this game is going to be good, but that I have a strategy to market it, find a niche, and make it succeed. Additionally, I'm not going to call myself a "Head Admin" of any sort of game until I can script competently and solve most scripting problems myself. Harvard Graduate employees with degrees in economics won't respect an owner who went to a community college for his economics degree and is now trying to convince them he knows better. I'm working on learning the ins and outs, and until I can, I'm not going to talk about all the amazing features I'm going to have someone else put in for me. So remember, http://www.fenixproductions.co.nr, sign up, and give me your feedback. If you think you might want to be a part of this production team, send me a resume, and I'll get back to you with a response and, once I've started development, some game info and pictures to convince you that, yes, you do want some of this. **~Fenix Head Administrator, Fenix Productions**

    Resized Logo

@Robin: > Go get the .psd and remove the smaller text. Actually that's a good idea. And I'm not showing it off in the "look how good I am" way, but rather in the "put it in one place so you can copy and paste it and not have to spend 5 minutes on Imageshack yourself" way.

    Resized Logo

![](http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/7522/eclipselogotwo1bh9.png) This is really nothing, but here's a thumbnail version of the logo, perfect for placing in an "Affiliates" section of your website. It actually looks just as cool smaller.
  20. The sword in the top left looks great. The shield and star thing both look just like flat gray objects though.
  21. I hope this doesn't already exist. Anyway…. I'm sure when you downloaded the new version you all saw the huge warning to **REGISTER YOUR .DLL AND .OCX FILES**. I figured out how to do it, thanks to a post by someone there, but I found several places where I could see someone getting confused. So I'm making this as a step by step guide to doing it. I would just inform you that I had never had any experience with these things before them, so everything here is based off my observations. **Step 1:** Open your eclipse folder. **Step 2:** Go to the "Client" folder. **Step 3:** Go to the "Data" folder. You should see all the pretty .dll and .ocx files. **Step 4:** Go to your computer's "Start" menu. **Step 5:** Click "Run" **Step 6:** Type regsvr32\. **DO NOT PRESS ENTER YET** **Step 7:** Look at the location for the data folder and eclipse folder. Highlight this, and press Ctrl + C or rt.click and select Copy. Mine was "C:\Program Files\Novus Regnum\Client\Data\" **Step 8:** Paste this **IN QUOTATION MARKS** after the word regsvr32 in the run menu. **DO NOT PRESS ENTER.** **Step 9:** Look at the first file in the data folder, **cmcs21.ocx**. **Step 10:** Type this after the slash after \Data\ in the location of your folder. eg. **"C:\Program Files\Novus Regnum\Client\Data\cmcs21.ocx"** **Step 11:** It should look exactly like this. regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Novus Regnum\Client\Data\cmcs21.ocx" **Step 12:** Press Enter. You should get a message confirming that it works. **Step 13:** Repeat with the other files in the folder. **ALERT! For some reason, unknown to me, some of the files here do not register. Apparently that is supposed to happen because it has no effect on your game whatsoever, and I noticed no bugs. Just go down the list and do them all. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Ignore it. I figure it's supposed to be that way. Do not freak out. I assure you it will work fine. That's all folks!**
  22. Well, I decided that rather than work on a game of my own, I'd rather join a project that's already underway. I do, however, want to work on a game that has the same kind of idea as some of the other game's I've worked on. I want to work on a game that will be successful, and I believe that to be successful, a sprite based game must have generally smooth graphics, and more importantly, features like player run government and a detailed in game economy. Now, I'm not looking for a game that matches my ideas EXACTLY, but I do want an original game, with a owner who is actually planning to finish. Anyway, I'm looking for a job as a Developer type person. I can map, make custom Music for your game (I'll take a job as a Chief SFX guy if you have a good game but don't want me as a developer), and do some graphic editing. I haven't really learned, or tried to learn, anything beyond the basic scripting, but I'll gladly take the time to do this once I have a "home". **Resume **Design & Planning** Planning features and managing are two of my favorite things to do, and two things I think I'm good at. I've worked on several projects with various different engines. I didn't finish any of them ( :P) for various reasons, but I made good progress and have some experience working with staff members. I don't think any Eclipse style game can survive without some great features, and I'd love to have the opportunity to work on a project which can actually implement some of them and succeed. **Music** I don't have any examples for you right now, since I had lost my recording program disk for a while, and only recently re-installed it, without my saved files, but I'll give you a little rundown of what I can do. Program: Cakewalk Music Creator 3, Rockerfish Mic for recording live instruments, Can do MIDI songs with Cakewalk electronic instruments. Examples: [Untitled *Unmixed, Raw Track*](http://files.filefront.com/applicationwav/;11162492;/fileinfo.html) Related Musical Skills: I've played guitar for 4 years and play it well. I'm adequate at piano. If necessary I can break out the bongos. I also can work with the Cakewalk MIDI instruments to make the typical RPG style music, or maybe even heavily edit some good ol' Saga Frontier tracks (a relatively unknown game with one of the best video game soundtracks ever.) **Graphic/Website Editing** Graphic Edits: This is an example of some RPG Maker VX Sprites I edited. I changed their hair color, edited their armor, etc. I'm not good enough when it comes to drawing to make sprites from scratch, but if you need editing done, I can do it, and hopefully this shows that. Pretty much as long as I have a template to start with, and I'm not drastically changing anything's shape, I can handle it. So for graphic maintenance, I'm your man. ![](http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/9073/actorcr7.png) Website Editing: While I'm not really good with start from scratch HTML stuff, I did take this free portal/forum making site (an excellent one by the way), and made this website for one of my old games. I also did the little letter graphic in the corner (though it's nothing impressive), and I got it a nice short, free, domain name. www.novusregnum.co.nr **Mapping** Here is an overworld map from one of the games I worked on. It's made using the Xtreme Worlds game making engine, which isn't as good as Eclipse, but I think it shows my ability to use tiles different from the standard RPGXP set. I'll post some indoor maps when I have the chance, though I'll probably have to make some new ones, because I don't know where my stuff went. So yeah, this is what I got for now, probably will add some more standard ones later. ![](http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/9571/26823186we1.bmp) **SO IN CONCLUSION…** I feel I would be a good addition to any team because I have managerial experience, and skills in several different areas. So if any fairly established game, which is going to get finished and plans to implement some original and interesting features like I outlined, needs a developer, an SFX guy, or even a mapper I guess, if your game is good and is going to be finished, let me know. :cheesy:**
