  1. **Eclipse Worlds**
isn't as stable as **Eclipse Origins 2,** but it is getting there. If you want features, go to **Eclipse Worlds**
, if you want a good base go with **Eclipse Origins 3**. In my next update, I am going to improve a lot of systems and fix a lot of bugs.
  2. A custom art set, would have to go into after we make a new GUI and finish all the roadmap changes. If we go down that path, the engine will eventually have a paid and free version, too, since the free version will be for indies and the paid one will be for commercial games. I am against making a limited engine for indies, but people who want to make money have to pay for commercial features such as monetizing.
  3. Oh and people shouldn't donate for these perks. I just have this here for people who want something for donating, oftentimes, donations don't give anything worth of what you give. That is why this is not a bought service or an equal valued service to the donation, but it is just like a donation back to the people that pay for the server bills.
  4. > $1 per slot? I can get a 100mb vps for a few bucks a month. Does your server have a 3d gfx card?

It's a one time thing. You get 100 players online indefinitely and yes. Donating is to support Eclipse, this is just extra. Also, it wouldn't run at full speed. The CPU would be locked to sleep, you would have to pay monthly for that.
  5. I also want to add that, we may do it where, if you donate $5 you can have 5 people online at once on average. If your game exceeds that amount, you would have to donate more. So basically if you donate $100 you can have 100 people on average. If that makes any sense?
  6. > I'd say it's a grey area, as most plugins are made in scripting languages. And you could download scripts from websites to just plonk in there. :P

Yeah but, scripting is more optimized for teaching people how to program. Right now, if we went with plugins it would scare of any noob programmers. I want to try to make it as simple as possible, to make it easy to pick up on.
  7. > Technically SadScript would more or less BE plugins, if you count LUA scripting and such in other games as plugins. :P

Scripting is more or less, where you can edit the function within the game engine. Plugins are usually downloaded from external sites and installed or placed in a specific folder.
  8. We're allowing people who donate to the site's expenses once, to host their game on our server. If the server starts to take up a lot, it would resort to paid monthly, but if you just need a host to make your game and have donated, just send me or Link a private message. This may not be permanent, but for now we want to try to give something back to donors. Your files will be returned to you properly if we end this service.
  9. > I'm a retired staff >_>, I'm also an oldschool member and I'm freaking awesome… I used to even have my own user group... CREST IS COOL TOO!

You would have to ask @[member="Link"]. :P I would give it to you, but I think there's a reason why you don't have it.
  10. > Not to rain on your glory, but it wouldn't be a meetup without some of eclipse's more popular members… like Marshy dearest... and Pimp Lord Rich.

It goes both ways. **Legends** group is technically staff, just retired.
  11. After long debate, I have decided not to do plugins. I will instead put in a **Sadscript** system with formulas in the game editors, to make it as flexible as people need. Adding plugins to the engine will be more work than it is worth, especially in **Visual Basic 6**.
  12. My engine uses FSM, you can use those in a commercial project. My spell icons, item icons, and resources you cannot. Mostly, character sprites and tilesets are FSM except a few, you will be able to see the difference in the style.
  13. > You _already_ gave up when people weren't jumping over themselves to sign up to your independent site for Eclipse Worlds. PLEASE prove me wrong in thinking that you'll just give up again when you don't get all the cash you think you deserve.

I didn't give up even when I was independent. My updates were still coming. I got stuck on the quest system being dynamic. It is a lot harder than you think when structs max at 64k bytes. I was making the engine for **Silverdale**. I said this many times.
  14. > Do you or do you not think that your LIFE-FUNDING JOB is coding in VB6 for Eclipse?

No, I am working here to try to attract more developers into the MMORPG market. I don't plan to make a living off of **Eclipse**.Some people would say **To the Moon** is crap cause it was made in **RPG Maker XP**. The same individuals who think **Visual Basic 6** is crap. It is outdated yes, but if people use it well it can do great things. I actually prefer COM over .NET since it is slower, the only problem with **VIsual Basic 6 **is multi-threads and an updated IDE. The reason why Microsoft dropped it was due to the COM-architecture they had was very frail and caused problems with compatibility. **Ruby **is another prime example which I can code in, I can code in .NET, and many other languages. I do not see your point, whatever language I pick as a developer is of my concern. I am eventually going to move to .NET in the coming months. This engine is a stepping stone. What people do not understand is when you try to do too much, you **FAIL**. So instead of trying to carry the world, I do it a step at a time, and if I would fail due to my task being too big, I cut part of the job and release what I did. It is how I actually release work and don't ultimately give up.

I go to college and work at **Wal-mart**. It's a stepping stone, everyone has to do it to make it in the real world. I am doing this to practice working on big environments and to be successful in my career.
  15. > Oh my goodness. This isn't your job… Or, at least I don't think. If you regard programming in VB6 for Eclipse as your job, then I should think it is YOU that needs to start living in the real world.

A language doesn't matter! It is the results you get from it. I am already planning on moving to a better language and when I do, you will be bitching, so cut it out and quit being negative.
  16. > This is stupid, I'm gonna go make my own eclipse, with black jack… and hookers, ya know what, just forget the eclipse thing.

What is the problem? I do a lot of charitable work, but how about you go work at your job for free? Just cause it is a hobby to you, doesn't mean it is free work. Stop complaining and start living in the real world.
  17. > Would be really easily to host ads and bring in all the money you need that way. Almost all current websites run off advertisment and not donations or subscriptions.

I will add it in today and see the results. **Donators **
    and **Gold Members**
     will not see ads.
  18. We can have rewards for the amount you donate similar to **Kickstarter**. I made this topic to know what direction the community wanted to go, which is why I gave examples of what I thought up. This wasn't meant to be a do one or the other, so I shouldn't of made it a poll, but it was merely to see which was more desirable to do. Then we could get feedback and make adjustments where needed.
