  1. No, I don't think they are the same. Both are two types of leaders, it was used in the right context. You are just over thinking it and missing the point of this entirely. You can choose to get down to the level of your workers, or have other people do it for you. You will be more aware of the organization by doing this, if you never actually work with your workers, you don't really know their situation for yourself. It's two types of hierarchies.
  2. > I'm the manufacturing lead for a sheet metal fabricator. Production/Manufacturing is my job and its all encompassing. As a leader its more rewarding and efficient to be able to teach a subordinate how to accomplish a task (initial training) and subsequently delegate and expect the same ot better results while hands off.

    > If management has to consistently micro-manage then it becomes daunting and a complete waste of time and resources. The image you presented is meaningless.

You are missing the point. You are being the leader by teaching people below you how to do their job. The picture illustrates how leaders who do nothing, but claim everything. Do what I want, and I won't ever contribute to society or our organization. They basically stand on the shoulders of everyone else, and only do the bare minimum with little risk. They don't ever get down and do the work.

Think of like Egyptian leaders who worked people like dogs to build them tombs. They told their architects what they wanted, the architects told the builders what to do.
  3. > wouldn't that just change the normal speed he wants a skill that temporary changes the speed

Movement is completely client-sided. It's been a flaw with Mirage Source for a very long time, movement speed can be hacked quite easily, because all you have to do is change the time it updates in the client.
  4. If you were a real programmer, you would know that language doesn't matter. I could script in Unity and it still counts as programming. I will tell you what matters: results. Who else can get results around here? That's what I thought.

It's not about my ego, it is about people claiming that they can do a better job when they clearly cannot. When you go around going Construct boii, when you never even proved to anyone you know how to make video games. I actually have worked very hard for what I have done, what have you to show? I may not be perfect, but I sure do try to be as good I can with the tools I have available to make games.
  5. > pl0x don't copy us; ![](http://i.imgur.com/lwX1FUu.png)

I don't need to copy, I can do it much better. ;) You cannot even back up a database, not that hard to defeat your community. You are one of the typical programmers who acts all high and mighty, but fails to ever complete or do anything awesome. You are no threat to Eclipse.
  6. The website is very old and needs another **Robin **like leader which is what I am trying to do. Every **Head Developer **is essentially stepping up a ladder and then moving on, we got many members who have left **Eclipse**, because they have grown out of MMOs or want to move onto a better language, but I honestly see no reason to since I am still learning how to make games better even with this poor language.
  7. **Introduction**

There's a lot of improvement **Eclipse** needs to be great again - we know how much people care about the community aspect, and going to try to keep it the same even though we are moving more toward a professional administration. The new ownership is still in its infancy, so it will take time for us to adapt and learn how **Eclipse** wants us to behave and act. We're not here to rule over anyone, but to aid and assist where possible to make the community more intact and alive.

    **Arcade System**

It's a nice idea to kill time and beat people's scores, but we need to find something better to replace it with that can be linked properly with the points system, and find games that are not copyrighted. There's really a ton we need to do. I realize that a lot of people like this component of **Eclipse** though, so it is here to stay until we find a suitable replacement.

    **New Engine**

The official engine right now is **Eclipse Origins 4**, but we are making moves toward adding a new GUI to **Eclipse Worlds** and adding in plugin support for version 1.3.0\. 1.2.6 will be out sometime today or tomorrow which will add one new feature and many bug fixes and improvements which should make it near stable. It also will have a working **Quest System**!

    **Download Center**

All resources and engines that are relevant still, will be moved to the download center. A place people can download items without having to go to external sites to get them. This also prevents 404 errors or broken links, because we will host all files ourselves.

    **Points System**

We plan to integrate the points system to buy **Credit**, which can be used to buy items in the download center we will be adding sometime next week. We likely will restrict this to only downloadable items which we made ourselves and not other people's items, because people will be able to monetize their own resources and plugins - people that use points means we have to pay them for it out of pocket.

_This will have images in the final draft and possibly a video._
  8. > It's the community that has driven me away here, not your code or your plans for the engine, but the site leadership (excluding yourself and Agora)

I am working with @[member="Link"], and trying to make sure the moderation is as good as possible. It's going to get worse before it is better, it just got adopted by a new owner. There's a lot of improvement the site needs first before moderation will be improved.
  9. > Not a fan of where things are headed with the community, but I am a supporter of the VB6 Engine and Eclipse Worlds (Good Luck Helladen!)

We're focusing on plugins and open-source. What could be wrong? Could you elaborate? I think you are just spectating too early and getting the wrong impression.
  10. > Unless I'm misunderstanding, you could always do

    > Redim Preserve
    > ```

I did already with the last commit, but it didn't fix the square boxes. For some reason, it resets the clearing of strings even though I preserve.
  11. > Thats always been a bug on eclipse origins, not just eclipse worlds.

It wasn't a bug with this engine, because I had fixed it. :O I just redim data now which caused them to come back. I have to clear the data after they get redimmed to properly clear out the junk.
  12. I will try to come up with a more dynamic feature system for Eclipse Worlds. To make customizing it easy and not requiring effort in the source-code. I just want to focus on the current battlesystem right now and make it good before really striving to add more.
  13. I just tested out the NPC spawning in map properties. It works as expected. You only click that button if you want to spawn the map NPCs yourself and not have them spawn automatically using the engine.

I renamed the text to No Auto Spawn rather than Auto Spawn to make it more clear what it actually does. This will be available in 1.2.6\. I also fixed the issues with stuff not clearing properly and redimming properly, this will fix all the RTEs and square boxes you see.
  14. > How can I change the font or add another feature (such as textbox, label….etc.) in frmMain? Cuz it don't have any thing in.

    > Like this >> [http://oi60.tinypic.com/zvevtl.jpg](http://oi60.tinypic.com/zvevtl.jpg)

It's all hardcoded in the source.
  15. > It has always been the best custom engine here, and limiting certain features and charging for it will take away from that, and result in becoming just another Eclipse Origins.

    The **Gold**
version will only have a few features that are separate and will be open-source. It's optional for people to donate toward, and all the **Gold Members**
    who bought **Amish's**
**Eclipse Origins** will be able to download it for free.

    > Is it normal that when I make the list of items//spells//animations or anything of the sort past 255 the graphics become erratic? Such as wide white letters and numbers appearing on the screen as if it was an arcade romtest.
    >
    > Is there a chart that says what the engines limits in terms of each?

    Not sure.

    No.
  16. > Worlds is by far better than Eo4 specially if the good features are copied and optimised from eo4 to there;
    >
    > sorry to see you paied for that :/

I am going to optimize all the systems and revamp them. Pet system will be redone at the base and enhanced.
  17. I've added some helpful tools for the moderation team.

    * Mod notifications, check your notification preferences to toggle them.
    * Enhanced member editing for moderators, so that they are not forced to go into the AdminCP.
    * Reverse warning button, to reverse a warning without having to manually do it yourself.
    * One click ban available to Head Developer and staff groups (Admin/Webtastic/Moderator).
    * New topic moderation actions in Topic Moderation and toward the bottom of a post.
  18. > No offence intended, but I'd rather see a cleaned up code for EO 4 rather than converters into Worlds, just my two-cents and I have a feeling other people feel the same way.

Eclipse 4 clean up will take more work than making a DX8 UI. I am not that motivated to work on two engines at once or I would, but I honestly do not think it is wise to spend my time on something not many people enjoyed in the first place.
