@AdmiralRefuge it does exist actually. it just got broken at one point. I had a pet-fixed source for 2.5 at one point in time, but thanks to my constant reformatting most of my old stuff is gone.

First off, there are so many easier ways to do this, why so complicated? Also what do you mean by "when it starts doing the if statments in the case 0 it just stops itself and like exits sub" You mind explaining a bit more. well spells don't fly, they just affect the target. if you want spells to actually "travel" and not go through blocked tiles, you'll need to script it yourself.

I'm making a game for my english midterms based off of Ursula LeGuin's chronicles of Earthsea. I need some crits for my main menu: 

He wants a spell to be enabled when you equip it. I want to talk to him to see exactly what he's trying to accomplish because every method posted so far is done incorrectly and fails tremendously.
