  1. Hey guys, I'm converting my game from TE to EE2.5 and am having difficulty with animations now. I haven't seen anything on it so I created a video example showing whats going on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKelKmQ53SA Does anyone know the fix, possible fixes or what the cause is? Thanks a lot!
  2. Client is apparently bugged, locating fix… Please be patient. *edit* problem may have been server side, seems to be working correctly now. Contact me if any difficulties. Read your PM's and continue as normal, Thank you.
  3. Will I _ever_ want to do another wolf sprite… The up & down animations are such a pain to get looking natural. ...Just ranting... *sigh* I'm still not happy with it.
  4. If and when you have time, I recommend you check out this video. http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ _Please_ respond with your thoughts. The entry may be boring, but it's worth sitting though if you're open minded.
  5. I have a .wav audio file that has an atmosphere that I want played as music in a map. Does anyone know of a free (preferably simple) audio converter that can do .wav -> .midi? Thanks alot :)
  6. Arrg… I didn't change anything on my CPU that I'm aware of that would cause me to be getting this error. The engine was working perfectly 2hrs ago, I closed it - did a little messaging on the net, downloaded a few midi files, then when I went to boot the engine back up I get smacked in the face with this RTE -_- Anyway, I obviously looked up the fix first: > -Type this in "run" on your comp to register the VBMP.ocx file, that'll cause it. > Regsvr32.exe dx7vb.dll > This registers it. > -Put a copy of VBMP.ocx in your win32 folder. > -Update Direct X I ran Regsvr32.exe dx7vb.dll, "DllRegisterServer in dx7vb.dll succeded." no fix. I reinstalled the library files mulitiple times, I cannot find a copy of VBMP.ocx to manually place in my win32 folder. no fix. I updated Direct X. no fix. It's obviously not my DoL engine itself because EE & related engines are getting the same messages. The only thing I can thing left for me to do is to find a copy of VBMP.ocx but I simply can't locate one. Could anyone please drop me a link to a download, or share ideas on possible fixes? Thanks! ***Edit*** Okay, I found VBMP.ocx and copied a file to system 32\. You guessed it, no fix. Does anyone have any recommendations please? :/
  7. The GUI images are saved in GIF format. I'm toying with animated GIFs to see if I can create an animated mainmenu. It hasn't worked so far, does anyone know if this would be something simple to get working with a little tweakage? Thanks :)
  8. In the data.ini file, we have the option to enable / disable things such as Scrolling, Scripting, Paperdoll etc. In EE, players names have txt added to them with their level, is there anychance we could make this an optional feature changeable through data.ini? For example: "DisplayLevel=1"
  9. It's not much, but it's _intended_ to be that way ;-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBcinPyH6cQ or http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=17816771

    Two Questions

    1) I would like to have it so that, when you attack an enemy, a brief animation is displayed on your target (ie, when hit - target splatters blood). However I only want this to work when you deal damage, so it doesn't show if your not hitting something. 2) I don't want my in-game music to be restricted to song per map, I would like to have it set so that a song is played continually through maps X, X & X and so on. Are these things scriptable, or would they require editing the source to work? Thanks a lot!
  11. This is the old (incomplete) item list for Dawn of Light from some time ago, I've since revamped those items and continued adding to that list. I've been holding onto these but I'm going through my backups and clearing out some stuff I know I'll never use, such as these. If you use my art, all I ask is that you please include me in your games credits as a contributer to your GFX. Thanks :) ![](http://img110.imageshack.us/img110/3954/itemsha3.png)
  12. This guard tower I'm currently showing is of the city Valondor within Dawn of Light. I drew it free hand in MS Paint, but it was drawn at an incorrect angle so I have to re-draw it. Since this is scrap, I decided to take the time to share it with the community and take suggestions on what people would like to see changed about the tower aside from the actual angle. ![](http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/2029/checkitbr5.png) Maybe you would like to see torches? Taller? Shorter? Different tower design? More arrow slits? Different colors, etc. Please contribute your thoughts so that Dawn of Light can be the best that it can be upon public launch. Thank you.
  13. Yeah so I'm tight on cash atm so I threw my DS up on ebay, if your interested you should check it out… Auction is starting damn cheap: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250158004837&ih=015&category=140088&_trksid=p3286.m7&_trkparms=Algo%3DLVI%26ITS%3D%26ITU%3D%26OTN%3D1%26PO%3DOp1
  14. This video is too cool, I had to share :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YL8jOZ9yqRE
  15. Yeah, irrelevant here, but I thought I'd share - because I'm really that bored tonight. If you've played WC3 custom maps, you may have run into a few old battle of Troy maps. I started this map a while back to make the battle more "Cinematic" and to create a more epic feel to the game. This was my version of the map which I never released because I discontinued it, thus the images you see lack detail I didn't complete. 16. Some of you may remember me from some time ago, if not no big deal. I was previously working on a project known as Dawn of Light. What was unique about DoL is that I was doing the entire games GFX from scratch & building the world from my imagination. I put the project on hold months back because I wasn't happy with the limitations I was running into. The engine had and still has limitations, and I couldn't push those because I lack the know-how of VB / advanced scripting. In the mean time I've been sketching dungeons & possible artwork & writing ideas from time to time. I've been pondering on my project recently because I'd hate to see the work I've done go to waste. I've been considering picking the project back up & customizing it to be "classic" game play themed. We're talking very basic features - but well tuned. Because of the basic gameplay, DoL would be highly reliant on roleplay. The reason why I'm posting this is to get a little feedback, is it worth continuing the project this way? If done right, would people play it?
  17. 18. The ability to (via homebrew) put Eclipse on the Nintendo DS with Wifi support. A guy can dream, eh? :P IE: 1) Host Eclipse Server on your computer 2) Players put the Eclipse Client on a Homebrew cartridge 3) Launch the application from the DS, where it locates & connects to the Server via Wifi 4) Enjoy the custom 2D MMORPG experience with X other DS fans around the world. 19. Which was a bloody epic quest in itself, I went to _many_ different stores in search of this bugger, but every single one was sold out. Finally I went to compusa, and asked an employee and he said, like many stores before him "sorry we're sold out", so I said the hell with it and just started browsing games to narrow down what which ones I may be end up buying, and another employee came up to me and asked me if I needed any help, I told him I was looking for a Nintendo DS but you seem to be sold out, he said "Yeah, I've heard of a lot people looking for them, they seem to be difficult to come by… Let me go check and see what's on the computer" and sure enough, they had 3 left, locked away. So I fortunately have my DS now, I bought Mario Kart to start out with because I'm familiar with it, but I'm wondering what everyone else recommends as their 'top' favorite games. Would anyone mind sharing a bit, please? Thanks! Edit: Oh also, does anyone know a good website to keep an eye out for titles & announcements on future DS releases?
  20. Personally, I'm anxiously looking at **_Dragon Quest IX: Defenders of the Sky_**. > Dragon Quest IX announced as DS exclusive > Posted Dec 12th 2006 6:20AM by Ludwig Kietzmann > Filed under: Nintendo DS, RPGs > The strange and somewhat pathetic sobbing you hear in the background originates from the offices of Microsoft and Sony, where once diligent executives have now completely broken down and given up on much of their lives. Square Enix just handed Nintendo the keys to the _Death Star_. As if the DS wasn't already an unrelenting steamroller in terms of sales and popularity, it was announced today that _Dragon Quest IX_ would be released exclusively on the most touchy-feely of portable systems. > > In the unlikely event that you've been stuck in some sort of spatial anomaly (like Disneyland) for the last few years, it's important to remind you that the Dragon Quest franchise is one of the most popular properties ever in the minds of Japanese gamers. It was widely expected that the next installment in the franchise would move to the PS3, an expectation that has now been crushed beneath Satoru Iwata's diamond-encrusted boot. Expect more news on the title as the week continues – for now, all we know is: it's being developed by Level 5, it supports multiplayer battles and the subtitle is something along the lines of "Protector of the Starry Sky." (From http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/12/dragon-quest-ix-announced-as-ds-exclusive/) > Early Impressions: Questing in the morning, questing in the evening, questing at suppertime. When Dragon Quest is on a bagel…err…DS, you can kill Slimes anytime! > > For twenty years, the Dragon Quest series has enraptured RPG fans worldwide. The first game (known as Dragon Warrior in the U.S.) was one of the first RPGs on the NES and is largely credited with popularizing the genre. Seven sequels, multiple spin-offs, and one corporate merger later the series is still going strong. The most recent PS2 release Dragon Quest VIII, was both a critical and financial success. Given this and Square-Enix’s history, few doubted that Dragon Quest IX would not appear on the PS3\. Defying expectation and delighting those too indigent for a PlayStation 3 (we are many, join us), Square-Enix decided to forgo release of Dragon Quest IX: Protectors of the Sky for the next-gen home consoles. Instead, the main series will continue on the Nintendo DS. > > Square-Enix has revealed few details about Dragon Quest IX. However, the information gleamed thus far shows the game will be even more revolutionary to the series than the change in hardware. Perhaps the most significant change is the new battle system. No doubt taking a hint from Final Fantasy XII, the developers decided to eliminate random battles in favor of real-time action. Now, the player will descend into an area and immediately be able to see the enemies approaching him or her. > > In addition to a single player mode, up to four players will be able to play cooperatively over WiFi. Like in many multiplayer RPGS, players in Dragon Quest IX are grouped into teams. This team does not have to necessarily travel together for it seems that the game allows for a fairly liberal freedom of movement. For example, if my knight, “Davidous Awesomeness”, decides to go to town to pick up some supplies, my entourage can keep on battling hordes of Slime instead of accompanying me (and cramping my style with the wenches). > > The few screenshots released thus far show that the game possesses cel-shaded graphics similar to those found in Dragon Quest VIII. The dual DS screens will reportedly be utilized, with the bottom displaying the action and the top a map. Like many details about the game, stylus support is largely unknown, although it factors into spell casting, as a developer’s demonstration showed one player tapping on another to heal him. (From http://www.gamingtarget.com/article.php?artid=6312) > Creator of Dragon Quest, Yuji Horii, said at the event that working on the new game brings back the same feelings he had when working on the very first game in the series, twenty years ago. Big words indeed for a very surprising announcement. Horii admitted that he recognizes the limitations of the DS but is doing his best to create a groundbreaking adventure on the platform. He wanted to make clear that DQIX is "not a spinoff or a side story; it's a true part of the series." He says he is shooting to have it ready in 2007. ![](http://dsmedia.ign.com/ds/image/article/750/750590/dragon-quest-9-set-for-ds-20061211114833383.jpg) ![](http://dsmedia.ign.com/ds/image/article/750/750590/dragon-quest-9-set-for-ds-20061211114834570.jpg) ![](http://dsmedia.ign.com/ds/image/article/750/750590/dragon-quest-9-set-for-ds-20061211114834227.jpg) Game Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0smdaQL6Mlg
  21. > **President Outlines Strategy for Iraq War** > Bush Plans to Send Additional 21,500 U.S. Troops > By TERENCE HUNT > AP > > WASHINGTON (Jan. 10) - President Bush acknowledged for the first time Wednesday that he erred by not ordering a military buildup in Iraq last year and said he was increasing U.S. troops by 21,500 to quell the country's near-anarchy. "Where mistakes have been made, the responsibility rests with me," Bush said. > > The buildup puts Bush on a collision course with the new Democratic Congress and pushes the American troop presence in Iraq toward its highest level. It also runs counter to widespread anti-war passions among Americans and the advice of some top generals. > > In a prime-time address to the nation, Bush pushed back against the Democrats' calls to end the unpopular war. He said that "to step back now would force a collapse of the Iraqi government, tear that country apart and result in mass killings on an unimaginable scale." > > "If we increase our support at this crucial moment and help the Iraqis break the current cycle of violence, we can hasten the day our troops begin coming home," Bush said. But he braced Americans to expect more U.S. casualties for now and did not specify how long the additional troops would stay. > > In addition to extra U.S. forces, the plan envisions Iraq's committing 10,000 to 12,000 more troops to secure Baghdad's neighborhoods - and taking the lead in military operations. > > His Poll Numbers on Iraq > President Bush's approval ratings on Iraq have declined steadily since the war began. See his yearly highs and lows. > > Even before Bush's address, the new Democratic leaders of Congress emphasized their opposition to a buildup. "This is the third time we are going down this path. Two times this has not worked," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi , D-Calif., said after meeting with the president. "Why are they doing this now? That question remains." > > There was criticism from Republicans, as well. "This is a dangerously wrongheaded strategy that will drive America deeper into an unwinnable swamp at a great cost," said Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., a Vietnam veteran and potential GOP presidential candidate. > > After nearly four years of bloody combat, the speech was perhaps Bush's last credible chance to try to present a winning strategy in Iraq and persuade Americans to change their minds about the unpopular war, which has cost the lives of more than 3,000 members of the U.S. military as well as more than $400 billion. > > House Democrats are arranging votes urging the president not to send more troops. While lacking the force of law, the measures would compel Republicans to go on record as either bucking the president or supporting an escalation. > > Usually loath to admit error, Bush said it also was a mistake to have allowed American forces to be restricted by the Iraqi government, which tried to prevent U.S. military operations against fighters controlled by the radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, a powerful political ally of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. The president said al-Maliki had assured him that from now on, "political or sectarian interference will not be tolerated." > > As Bush spoke for 20 minutes from the unusual setting of the White House library, the sounds of protesters amassed outside the compound's gates occasionally filtered through. > > Bush's approach amounts to a huge gamble on al-Maliki's willingness - and ability - to deliver on promises he has consistently failed to keep: to disband Shiite militias, pursue national reconciliation and make good on commitments for Iraqi forces to handle security operations in Baghdad. > > "Our past efforts to secure Baghdad failed for two principal reasons: There were not enough Iraqi and American troops to secure neighborhoods that had been cleared of terrorists and insurgents," the president said. "And there were too many restrictions on the troops we did have." > > He said American commanders have reviewed the Iraqi plan "to ensure that it addressed these mistakes." > > With Americans overwhelmingly unhappy with his Iraq strategy, Bush said it was a legitimate question to ask why this strategy to secure Baghdad will succeed where other operations failed. "This time we will have the force levels we need to hold the areas that have been cleared," the president said. > > While Bush put the onus on the Iraqis to meet their responsibilities and commit more troops, he did not threaten specific consequences if they do not. Iraq has missed previous self-imposed timetables for taking over security responsibilities. > > Bush, however, cited the government's latest optimistic estimate. "To establish its authority, the Iraqi government plans to take responsibility for security in all of Iraq's provinces by November," the president said. > > Still, Bush said that "America's commitment is not open-ended. If the Iraqi government does not follow through on its promises, it will lose the support of the American people and it will lose the support of the Iraqi people. Now is the time to at." > > Resisting calls for troop reductions, Bush said that "failure in Iraq would be a disaster for the United States. … A democratic Iraq will not be perfect. But it will be a country that fights terrorists instead of harboring them." > > But Bush warned that the strategy would, in a short term he did not define, bring more violence rather than less. > > "Even if our new strategy works exactly as planned, deadly acts of violence will continue, and we must expect more Iraqi and American casualties," he said. "The question is whether our new strategy will bring us closer to success. I believe that it will." > > Bush's warning was echoed by Sen. John McCain , R-Ariz., a leading proponent of a troop increase. "Is it going to be a strain on the military? Absolutely. Casualties are going to go up," the senator said. > > Bush said he considered calls from Democrats and some Republicans to pull back American forces. He concluded it would devastate Iraq and "result in our troops being forced to stay even longer." > > But he offered a concession to Congress - the establishment of a bipartisan working group to formalize regular consultations on Iraq. He said he was open to future exchanges and better ideas. > > Bush's strategy ignored key recommendations of the Iraq Study Group, which in December called for a new diplomatic offensive and an outreach to Syria and Iran . Instead, he accused both countries of aiding terrorists and insurgents in Iraq. "We will disrupt the attacks on our forces," Bush said. "We will interrupt the flow of support from Iran and Syria." > > The troop buildup comes two months after elections that were widely seen as a call for the withdrawal of some or all U.S. forces from Iraq. Polling by AP-Ipsos in December found that only 27 percent of Americans approved of Bush's handling of Iraq, his lowest rating yet. > > The president's address is the centerpiece of an aggressive public relations campaign that also includes detailed briefings for lawmakers and a series of appearances by Bush starting with a trip Thursday to Fort Benning, Ga. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice heads to the Mideast a day after appearing Thursday with Defense Secretary Robert Gates at hearings on Iraq convened by the Democrats. > > Bush's blueprint would boost the number of U.S. troops in Iraq - now at 132,000 - to 153,500 at a cost of $5.6 billion. The highest number was 160,000 a year ago in a troop buildup for Iraqi elections. > > The latest increase calls for sending 17,500 U.S. combat troops to Baghdad. The first of five brigades will arrive by next Monday. The next would arrive by Feb. 15 and the reminder would come in 30-day increments. > > Bush also committed 4,000 more Marines to Anbar Province, a base of the Sunni insurgency and foreign al-Qaida fighters. > > Bush's plan mirrored earlier moves attempting to give Iraqi forces a bigger security role. The chief difference appeared to be a recognition that the Iraqis need more time to take on the full security burden. > > Another difference involves doubling the number of U.S. civilian workers who help coordinate local reconstruction projects. These State Department-led units - dubbed Provincial Reconstruction Teams - are to focus on projects both inside and outside the heavily guarded Green Zone, and some will be merged into combat brigades. The portion of Bush's plan intended to boost economic aid and job creation was given a price tag of just over $1 billion. > > Several Republican senators are candidates for backing the resolution against a troop increase. Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine, Gordon Smith of Oregon and Norm Coleman of Minnesota said they oppose sending more soldiers. > > Republican Sens. George Voinovich of Ohio and John Warner of Virginia also might be persuaded. Warner said he supports the Iraq Study Group recommendations, which strongly cautioned against an increase in troops unless advocated by military commanders. Are there words to describe the stupidity of the president?
  22. Alrighty then! In this game, in order to play you must Google Image search the above posters subject (a noun), after finding that image post it to share to the thread, and leave a subject (a noun) for the next player to search. *please* remember to only ask players to find subjects that do not disobey forum rules in anyway, and avoid overly complex searches such as 'a giraffe wearing a thong while standing on the moon' A link to google image search: [http://images.google.com/imghp?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&tab=wi&q=](http://images.google.com/imghp?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&tab=wi&q=) So then, I'll start: _Google- a tree with a tire swing_

But over the last few days I have been ruthlessly tackling my newfound nemesis in art head on... a tree. For the love of all that is good I _cannot_ pixel a decent, realistic looking tree. 25. I have a massive collection of Zelda tile sheets, the problem is they are all 16x16\. So I've been coming up with different methods to blow the 16x16 tiles up to 32x32 with minimal discoloration & damage. The problem is, it's a long process and there are so many tiles it could literally take me weeks working on them several hours a day. Here is an image of some tiles I have blown up so far: ![](http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/8759/asdpw2.png) Does this building & grass look weird to anyone else? Or does this actually look like something that can be worked with? If it's good enough I may put in the effort to resize my entire Zelda collection (5 different dungeon themes, 2 different cave system themes, 6 different town themes, 3 different castle themes, royal valley & more) Any feedback? Thanks.
