  1. I hopped on to see if Eclipse ever actually got that Java release it was supposed to. Now I read its going to HTML5 and javascript. Super excited for that. I can't say I'm back… as I'm still in school and busy, but I'll be dropping by here and there. Anyone care to PM me all the major events I've missed in the past 4 years (ish)? :p
  2. @JS1: > VIP… is that Mediacom? > > Would you host a non-Eclipse game? (Minecraft) > > -JS1 I could possibly host a minecraft server. Again, I am only willing to host quality projects. Please be sure that whatever is taking place in the game is quality work and not just a bunch of random people poking at cubes aimlessly making nothing. @Robin: > Where are you located? Rossford, Ohio In the United States. It's near Toledo.
  3. @Prince: > wow how much do you pay for the internet? Our ISP provides a "VIP" package (video, internet, phone). With this bundle we get our phone service, our internet service, and our cable television. All are being run through a single coaxial cable. We have the second highest package offered, the highest being a 50mbps d/l rate (not sure about upload). It costs somewhere between $100 and $150 per month. This includes 700+ channels, roughly 100 (non VOD or PPV) HD channels, and DVR service. But anyways… It's fast, and I'm offering.
  4. I'm back for any who didn't notice… just dropping buy for a while to see what's up. @ghngames: > I have??????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I didnt know that You, good sir, have a lie for a signature. [Check out why here](http://scienceavenger.blogspot.com/2007/12/cambridge-word-scramble-study-its-fake.html) Also, if you contact Cambridge University and ask them about this, they claim that they have never made any such study.
  5. This post will not display until it's been approved by a moderator…. huh. That's new. I wonder what happened here while I was away o_O Anyways... I'm offering my computer as a server for someone's game. I will not take scrap games. Before accepting a game I want to see it and it's development. My ISP provides me with about 10.5mbps download speeds and 900kbps upload speeds. This is more than enough to support any Eclipse game. My house is actually the local Hub for our ISP so we have a nicer connection than the surrounding area. My computer folds 24/7 so it only shuts off when it needs restarted because of updates or software installation. Check my sig for physical computer specs. I will only offer this service for one individual's server. First come, first serve. That is, of course, if your game is worth hosting. Additionally, I won't take any requests after February 2011. To submit a request please reply to this thread. Do not PM or e-mail me.
  6. @Robin: > No. You can have maps up to 255x255 in size. I think that's good enough. I just thought that seamless map flow would allow for more types of property changes to occur more often if you wanted them too while just looking nicer and not having to run to the edge of each square box only to have to load another map.
  7. I remember SEGAnet on the DC… ah... Dail-up... I don't miss you a bit. The browser did come with Sega Swirl though :p Yeah... sega did the first online game console (DreamCast) and the first Handheld (GameGear). Good ideas... failed marketing.
  8. Best RPG? Tales of Symphonia. I'm not biased… STOP LOOKING AT ME >_>
  9. Majora's Mask was pretty scary. One level in gears 2 was… but Amnesia beats them all. Need proof? Right here on youtube: [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loSzpvq73FY](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loSzpvq73FY) Note that its much scarier when you are the one playing. you get the full effect from the audio n such.
  10. So I've discovered some cool game related stuffs on the interwebz as of late and have decided to post it here. This isn't everything but a fair amount of stuff so read on if you're interested. :) First off, we have Sonic Fan Remix. Two guys were unhappy with Sega and all of the more recent Sonic games so they started making their own. A few days later information on Sonic 4 was released. Regardless they continued the project and have released betas of the first three levels. Personally I think that its amazing. Many people complained about the excess of "stuff" that's going on but personally I think that the gameplay and design stays true to the original and that's all that matters. A "current" Sonic game should have all the extra busy stuff in the background. To get the beta go to [http://sonicfanremix.com](http://sonicfanremix.com). Next, there is Sonic The Hedgehog 2 HD. Looks amazing. It's been in development for several years now and is really shaping up. The official site is here: [http://s2hd.sonicretro.org/](http://s2hd.sonicretro.org/). Watch the trailer in 1080p! Card Sagas Wars is a game made in MUGEN and has been in development for many years now. They've finally finished creating all of the cards and sprite animations and will begin working with the MUGEN engine to get the final game together. Looks amazing. Check it out at [http://cardgallery.tales-tra.com/main.htm](http://cardgallery.tales-tra.com/main.htm). Octodad is just a weird game. Easy to beat it in like an hour. Play it. Experience life as an octopus impersonating a father. [http://octodadgame.com/index.php](http://octodadgame.com/index.php) The "Back To School" mod for L4D is starting to shape up. It makes the environments look way better as well as realistic. Currently not available for download yet though :( [http://www.moddb.com/mods/back-to-school](http://www.moddb.com/mods/back-to-school) Here are a bunch of HL2 Mods. Read up. Some of them are/Will be very good. [Enhanced Shaders](http://www.moddb.com/mods/hls-enhanced-shaders-2010-custom-enb) [Hazard Team (Decay Source), A remake of Half-Life decay, originally exclusive for the PS2](http://www.moddb.com/mods/hazard-team1) [A remake of blue shift in source](http://www.blueshiftsource.com/) [A new side story in the HL2 universe](http://operationlambda.com/) [Operation Black Mesa, a remake of Opposing Force](http://www.obmsource.com/) [Black Mesa, A remake of Half-Life 1](http://blackmesasource.com/) [City 17, a HL2 sidestory](http://geardev.wordpress.com/) A lot of these HL mods aren't actually out but looks extremely promising. Keep watching ;) GoldenEye source is a remake of James Bond 007 GoldenEye from the N64. It is extremely well done and I recommend that everyone get this. You do need to own a copy of Half-Life 2 (or any source game I believe) to play this. [Get it here.](http://www.moddb.com/mods/goldeneye-source) Into 8-bit games? [Right here!](http://www.ericruthgames.com/). This guy's remakes are pretty well done. Fun too. Unfortunately… Final Fantasy VII hasn't been remade :( Fortunately there are a few updates that can be applied to the PC version of the game and here they are! [http://www.finalfantasy7pc.com/](http://www.finalfantasy7pc.com/). Enjoy! Also, here's a guide for updating Morrowind: [http://morrowind2009.wordpress.com/](http://morrowind2009.wordpress.com/) Have a good computer? Interested in in helping out the world some? Try Folding@Home out! Have your computer fold proteins to assist things such as cancer research while it idles! For more info and the download go here: [http://folding.stanford.edu/](http://folding.stanford.edu/). Sumotori Dreams is pretty old but there are still plenty of people who have never played it. Watching block people fall never seems to get old. The screen saver is particularly nice too. [http://www.gravitysensation.com/sumotori/](http://www.gravitysensation.com/sumotori/) Get the game that lead to the creation of Portal! [It's Narbacular Drop!](http://www.fileplanet.com/161458/160000/fileinfo/Narbacular-Drop-%5BFree-Game%5D). Ever wanted to play PS2, GameCube, PSX, or Wii games on your computer? Well now you can! For PSx and PS2 head over to [http://pcsx2.net/](http://pcsx2.net/) and get the emulator (You will need a bios files). For GameCube and Wii go and get the Dolphin Emulator at [http://www.dolphin-emulator.com/](http://www.dolphin-emulator.com/). Wait… you want to use your PS2, GC, and Wii controllers with your computer too? Completely doable, I say. For a really nice GC/PS2/Xbox controller to USB converter I would recommend getting the [MayFlash Magic joy Box](http://www.mayflash.com/pc/pc035/pc035-1.htm). I got mine on eBay for only $15 and it works great. It does take a bit of tweaking to get the settings right and you do need to have whatever controllers you want it to recognize plugged into it before you plug it into the computer but besides that its great! For the Wii mote all you need to do is head over to [eBay](http://www.ebay.com/) and buy a $3-$5 WIRELESS I/R sensor bar (it runs on batteries, that way it doesn't need to connect to wii for power) and a $1 USB Bluetooth dongle. If your computer already has bluetooth then you're set! Now you can play wii games on your computer with the wiimote in 720 or 1080p! Yes! The emulator can run the games at higher resolutions than the Wii itself. Please note that PSX and PS2 games can be read directly from most DVD drives but the Wii and GameCube games require you to download Isos of them that someone else has ripped for backups. Only like 5 or so outdated optical drives can read Wii or GC games for some reason. This is all I have for now… maybe I'll make another post when I find some more stuff and if people like this. EDIT: oh... and there is of course [Cave Story](http://www.cavestory.org/). BTW, I didn't mention obvious stuff like RuneScape and MineCraft. Everyone (pretty much) knows about those games as it is.
  11. Excellent work. I've been anticipating for this for quite some time ^_^ I'm not sure if there is a good place to post suggestions or ideas for future additions for EO. It's been a while since I've visited the forums. I'll post it here for now. So, as I said, it looks amazing so far. I'm very impressed. Obviously I don't expect EO's interface to trump premiere MMO interfaces but in a search to improve the user experience I believe that it is necessary to look to other games for areas where EO could be improved. One such area is the client's main menu. As of now, there is no "Home" page button. The daily news that is received from the server appears when you first run the program but if you click another button then you have no way of returning to that news. I believe that adding this function is essential as a more expansive or developed game is sure to have some sort of news feed listing updates and changes for the game. This whole "Home" page and news idea brings a few more ideas to mind. These include having the client retrieve images from web addresses and embedding them into the news section. Fold-down tabs would be a nice incorporation as well. Example: [+] GFX Update 1/25/2011 [+] Patch Fix V.1.0.2 1/20/2011 [-] New Logo 1/2/2011 A new logo has been introduced! Blah Blah! Blibidy Blah! [+] Eclipse Origins Released! Being able to integrate basic HTML or having the client recognize custom commands like inserting images and what not would be great! Even inserting images from a folder that's client side rather than internet would be a nice addition. Colors and web links (open in browser) would also add to the experience. Additionally, I believe that there should be an options button in the main menu. Here, the player could set options for video, audio, etc. Many game clients have an options menu that can be accessed before actually initiating the game. This helps to customize settings before trying to boot the actual game that will be more demanding than the login screen. While on the topic of options, I'd like to suggest some additional video options be applied. Now I'm not expecting a game like this to have things like Anti-aliasing and Vertical sync settings but perhaps screen resolution and fullscreen options are doable? Example: I have a 1920x1080 monitor. The space that the client provides for me to actually see (the map) is quite small. I'd like to eventually see a fullscreen option where I could run the entire client at 1920x1080 and have the chat and menus interface enlarged slightly but the total map viewing area greatly enlarged to encompass the rest of my screen. Draw distance settings and other video options would allow for a better overall user experience. Another feature that I don't see in the client is an online/offline status bar. Those would be nice. I am familiar with the separate auto-update feature that can be downloaded but I was wondering if there is a way for this to be built straight into the client. This way the player is guaranteed to have the newest files available. Upon loading the client it could first check to see that the server is online and then check for updates, retrieving any new files and downloading them before allowing the player to log into the game. That's enough with the menu for now. As for the actual engine itself, I haven't played around in-game much yet. Right now the only thing that I can think of that would be a nice feature is seemless map flow. This would be almost necessary if playing in larger resolutions, otherwise you would run into the black edges of maps if they were too small. Rather than run to the edge of a box shaped map, the surrounding maps could be loading into the client for when you ran into that direction and your character could just continue running straight onto a new map. When entering a new map, properties and whatnot could change accordingly. These are just a few suggestions. Some of these features might already exist and I'm just unaware of them. But otherwise they stand. I don't expect any of these to be done as they are merely suggestions for further development. What Robin decides to do is his own decision. I just thought I'd give some feedback and ideas. Overall, great job. I can't wait to see where EO ends up going! :cheesy: I'll be heading off to college in pursuit of a computer science degree soon so maybe I'll help out if I show any talent for it. :P EDIT: Oh, and preview boxes for spell, item, and character animations would help when edition.

  13. @Stephan: > I am already helping society by inventing theories that make your computer not waste cycles. Telling an operating system developer to do something useful is a no go. > > Regards, > Stephan. not all of us are OS developers. ;)
  14. @Mikekan13: > Blah Blah Blah. Looks pretty but is still the same shit over and over again. I wish the industry would use all its power to create a game instead of shiny graphics to spank off to. I forget where I heard this but It is the rules I wish all developers lived by : "It should be a pre-req for game developers to prototype a game without any graphics– if the game is fun to play in this format then spend your millions on all the bells and whistles." the graphics are amazing… prolly will be the best on the 360 to date. but they aren't everything. The gameplay is still unparalleled. And the story is also really good if you care enough to read up on it. when it comes down to it, its only about what the consumer wants.
  15. I'm not sure about how many of you know about folding@home yet. Basically, the University of Stanford has been studying how protein cells "fold" or assemble themselves. Misfolding protein cells are associated with various types of cancers, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, etc. To simulate folding it would take the worlds fastest computer millions of days to accomplish what 100,000 processors can in 10. This is what lead to folding@home. It is a program that will receive instructions from Stanford's server and then it will use your computer (during down-time) to simulate protein folding, sending the results back to the university. [More info can be found here along with download.](http://folding.stanford.edu/) So… try using your computer to help society out some, eh?
  16. No. It wouldn't get enough players.
  17. Read the missions statement [http://www.adequacy.org/special/mission.html](http://www.adequacy.org/special/mission.html)
  18. @Renzo: > Haha, that is a pretty sick setup you got there. > We should trade computers. ;) strap $1300 onto your comp and its a deal! :p
  19. @Black★Gold: > This is so fake. lol You know… you kill the funny when you say stuff like that :\ Luckily I've pretty much given up all hope in mankind's future thus I can accept that people like this fellow do in fact exist! ;D
  20. @[Cake: > Vitin â„¢ link=topic=64551.msg691383#msg691383 date=1284168023] > if you have more money buy a GTX 480.Then it will be 5.5 stars :) , Also if I were you I would buy XFX nvidia cards .Dont ask me why I just prefer XFX :D the price gap between the 460 and the 480 is pretty steep. Also, XFX hasn't come out with any newer high profile cards.
  21. So… I've recently decided to enter the computer science field. I plan on double majoring in college to get a BS in computer science and a BA in digital media arts. If all goes well I'll end up making video games. Otherwise, I'd still have plenty of opportunities available to me in the programming and animation fields. Since I decided to enter this line of work (and because it was time for an upgrade) I recently built a new computer for myself; named the build "Silph-beta". I've reviewed all of the items myself and want to know what you guys think of my first build. Here's the specs and info: **~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~** [![](http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/360/20921339.jpg)](http://www.newegg.com/Product/ImageGallery.aspx?CurImage=11-119-197-TS&ISList=11-119-197-S01%2c11-119-197-S02%2c11-119-197-S03%2c11-119-197-S04%2c11-119-197-S05%2c11-119-197-S06%2c11-119-197-S07%2c11-119-197-S08%2c11-119-197-S09%2c11-119-197-S10%2c11-119-197-S11&S7ImageFlag=1&Item=N82E16811119197&Depa=0&WaterMark=1&Description=COOLER%20MASTER%20HAF%20922%20RC-922M-KKN1-GP%20Black%20Steel%20%2b%20Plastic%20and%20Mesh%20Bezel%20ATX%20Mid%20Tower%20Computer%20Case) **Case: [COOLER MASTER HAF 922 RC-922M-KKN1-GP](http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119197) ($89.98) _Features:_ * Five 5.25" external drive bays (one converts to 3.5") * Five 3.5" internal drive bays * Two 200mm fans, one mounted on top and one placed in the front complete with red LEDs * One 120mm fan on the back * Tool-Free Installation (amazing) * Supports both liquid and fan cooling * Has two USB 2.0, eSATA, mic in, and audio out ports on the front * Has LED, power, and reset buttons on top * Open side panel for easy visibility and additional fans * Supports additional fan on bottom >! This is an absolutely amazing case for the price. It's easy to change out parts, upgrade and its great at keeping the system cool. If you're looking for a really good long-term case, this is definitely the model to go with. The top fan is great for removing excess CPU heat and the lower 200mm fan can be angled to get better airflow. The only setbacks that I have found include the size (as it is quite large) and the open side-plate for installing CPU cooling. Usually this is a convenience but this cut isn't large enough to work for all chipsets.![](http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/1060/starps.jpg)![](http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/1060/starps.jpg)![](http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/1060/starps.jpg)![](http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/1060/starps.jpg) **~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~** [![](http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/9551/31038071.jpg)](http://www.newegg.com/Product/ImageGallery.aspx?CurImage=23-126-012-Z02&ISList=23-126-012-Z01%2c23-126-012-Z02%2c23-126-012-Z03%2c23-126-012-Z04&S7ImageFlag=1&Item=N82E16823126012&Depa=0&WaterMark=1&Description=Logitech%20Internet%20350%20Black%20USB%20Wired%20Standard%20Keyboard) **Keyboard: [Logitech Internet 350](http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126012) ($23.99) _Features:_ * Driver-Free hotkey support * Spill Resistant >! This is probably the second best GTX 460 GPUs on the market right now. The best is probably EVGA's version. However, with GIGABYTE's model you do save some money. The card comes pre-overclocked and can be overclocked even more since the card has twice the amount of copper PCB administered to it. The fans are designed to not allow any airflow to work against itself enabling an efficient method of cooling. I've successfully OC'd my card to 775MHz using MSI AfterBurner with max temps only raising to 67oC. GPUs can usually be "safely" taken up to temps of around 90oC. There have been reports of audio problems with this card when using a P55 motherboard. I also believe that my BD playback issue is either resulting from this card's hardware or the drivers. I sent the GPU back and when I get my replacement I'll be sure to update this. nVidia is pretty good about getting new drivers out every month or two so if that is the only problem then hopefully it will be corrected soon enough. **~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~** [![](http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/9644/97111446.jpg)](http://www.newegg.com/Product/ImageGallery.aspx?CurImage=26-104-178-S01&SCList=26-104-178-S01%2c26-104-178-S02%2c26-104-178-S03%2c26-104-178-S04%2c26-104-178-S05%2c26-104-178-S06%2c26-104-178-S07%2c26-104-178-S08%2c26-104-178-S09&S7ImageFlag=2&Item=N82E16826104178&Depa=0&WaterMark=1&Description=Logitech%20MX%20518%208%20Buttons%201%20x%20Wheel%20USB%20Wired%20Optical%20Gaming%20Mouse) **Mouse: [Logitech MX 518](http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104178) ($44.99) _Features:_ * Optical tracking * Eight programmable buttons * 1800 dpi * Adjustable sensitivity >! This motherboard keeps GIGABYTE's trend of doubling the PCB copper going strong. It has two SATA 3 connections and two USB 3.0 connections. The built in audio is pretty good compared to most other motherboards. The only setbacks I found in this board is a lack of on-board video card, and no triple channel RAM slots. Also, when you SLI video cards on this board, it degrades the USB 3.0 and SATA 3 speeds to what they would regularly be (2.0 and 2).![](http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/1060/starps.jpg)![](http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/1060/starps.jpg)![](http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/1060/starps.jpg)![](http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/1060/starps.jpg) **~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~** [![](http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/5734/56108015.jpg)](http://www.newegg.com/Product/ImageGallery.aspx?CurImage=17-139-005-TS&SpinSet=17-139-005-RS&ISList=17-139-005-Z01%2c17-139-005-Z02%2c17-139-005-Z03%2c17-139-005-Z04%2c17-139-005-Z05%2c17-139-005-Z06%2c17-139-005-Z07&S7ImageFlag=1&Item=N82E16817139005&Depa=0&WaterMark=1&Description=CORSAIR%20CMPSU-650TX%20650W%20ATX12V%20%2f%20EPS12V%20SLI%20Ready%20CrossFire%20Ready%2080%20PLUS%20Certified%20%20Active%20PFC%20Compatible%20with%20Core%20i7%20Power%20Supply) **Power Source: [CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX](http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005) ($89.99) _Features:_ * SLI and CrossFire Ready * 650W * Eight SATA power connectors * 120mm fan * Over voltage protection * Lasts over 100,000 Hours * Two PCI-E connectors * Eight peripheral connectors * One 12V (4/8Pin) connector * Single +12V rail * Compatible with i7 >! One of the better PSUs on the market and made by a great manufacturer. CORSAIR PSUs are self-regulating and have more than enough connections to satisfy all of your computer's needs. The one drawback that I had with this PSU is that it's cables are designed for it to be mounted from the top of a case. I'm also going to buy another 200mm fan for the side and a 120mm fan for the bottom. I'll also buy another two sticks of memory so I'll have eight in total. I've already OC'd my CPU to 3.2GHz and I plan to continue upping it until I either reach 4.0GHz or I find my stable max settings. EDIT: Oh, and I plan on buying a decent monitor. But for now I'll just use my TV.************************
  22. So… I just finished building my new rig. Cost about $1305 in total. I'll prolly add the specs to my sig later or something. But for now what I'm interested in is overclocking. What have all of you managed to overclock your hardware to? This includes CPU, GPU, Memory, etc. I got an nVidia GeForce GTX 460 (GV-N460OC-1Gl) that came pre overclocked at 715Mhz with shaders at 1430Mhz. I'm currently running stability tests for 775 and 1550. We'll see how far I can take this... I'll SLI eventually. I'm also going to try to Overclock my Intel i7-875k Lynnfield CPU. Its running at 2.93Ghz oob but turbo has it running at 3.2 most of the time. I think I can get this to at least 3.8. Maybe I can get into the 4.0 club? :) But yeah... what kind of OCing have you guys all done?
  23. Does anyone know of a good website for buying and selling anime/manga? I'd like a site similar to ebay but more exclusive. I've been looking to add to my collection lately and I have the preference of purchasing the "special/limited/collector's" editions of most of the series that I like. Some of the older DVDs are rarer so I've been trying to find a place where I can find them cheaper used (ebay and amazon don't always help). Thanks for any suggestions! :)
  24. @Kiruu: > on the default gateway in address bar i get diagnose connection problems lool I'm guessing that you're using the incorrect default gateway. Google your router's brand and see if you can find it's normal gateway.
