  1. wow lots of posts! Thanks for clearing that up, now I'm just going to post my thoughts on some of the posts: @Robin: > Don't act surprised that an interpreted scripting language is slower than a compiled programming language. > > That's just how it is. I can always get Stephen in here to explain it all if you want. I'm sure you'd enjoy that(!) > > Evan owns the domains and hosts all the stuff. I made the engine, I made the forum skin, I made the website and I wrote up all the documentation. That's what I set out to do originally and when I completed that I retired to let someone else take the lime-light. I now just lurk around posting bug fixes and getting in to arguments. > > Whoever told you that was lying. 'SadScript' is just a scripting control wrapper made by Thakra(?) back in ~'01\. Shannara added a tutorial to add it to Mirage and then all the old closed-source engines used it to allow people to add new features. > > Konfuze used it because it was closed-source but was later released as open-source. Eclipse is based on that. As such Eclipse didn't have scripting for any real reason other than the fact that people were used to it. No one really cared about the speed or stability of the engine till I released Origins. > > The developer of Stable himself uses Origins now and suggests no one use his engine. > > [http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,68521.0.html](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,68521.0.html) Yes, I knew that the Stable developer didn't advise people to use it. I was never told SadScript was built for XW, I just learned about it when I found out about XW. @Rawrz: > Want to know well let's just say in XW land people are really stupid IQ of about 4 they think sadscript is a completely different language. There's a guy on XW who acually thinks SadScript is a good language and that the 'HappyScript' language that was going to be relased with XW 1.0.4\. (HappyScript is temporarily cancelled since the guy 'resigned' and deleted all his posts, a lot of which where very important to scripters, for absolutely no known reason. The new XW developer, which isn't the original developer for some reason, doesn't understand the acuall scripting language section of the code) Anyways that's all. Again, thanks for clearing that up for me I really appreciate it!
  2. @Rawrz: > Yup I've been on here a while! lol I just remembered about 'The flys and the guards and the trees' :D hopefully there's no 'Trees and the Cave and the Angels' for the Eclipse version of Furthermore right?
  3. @Rawrz: > Hi night i am moonlite welcome! omg! Hi Moonlite! (As in, Moonlite Ash right? From XW?) How long have you been on Eclipse? Longer than XW or no? I saw you say you where Moonlite and said 'Hmm… but your username is Rawrz...' but than I looked at your avatar image a bit more and saw the 'Furthermore online' part and realized everything :D
  4. First of all, who acually developed EO? I was underthe impression Robin did but than the 'Site Owner' isn't Robin but some other guy… Second of all, is there a version ('Stable' version?) that utilizes SadScript? I was under the impression SadScript was a modified version of VB Script built for XW.... and now their working on 'HappyScript' which is supposed to have more capabilities than SadScript (hence the more positive name) Just some things I was wondering.
  5. @TheSASGuyofMW3: > Im back!SASFanguy is back! how can you be 'Back'? > Posts = 0 Acually, how can you have just posted and have 0 posts
  6. To like portal, (in general) you don't even have to know what half life is, or that it exists! You don't need portal to get portal 2\. Portal 2 is awesome and I havn't played the original (though I'd like to, but won't because it's not long enough for me to spend money on even if it's 10$) I still think that Portal 2s Single Player (not only longer, but more story based, because in co-op valve wanted players to talk with each other instead of listen to GLaDOS talk and therefore ruining the coop experience that Portal 2s coop was ment to be) and Coop mode are awesome. Plus if you get the PC version (PS3 version comes with PC version) than you can create your own Portal maps :D
  7. I want get some resources but am having trouble. I use Eclipse Origins (most recent version) and I wanted to use these sprites right here: [http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,2779.0.html](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,2779.0.html) but it looks like they're for a different version of Eclipse :( Maybe somebody could set these up for Eclipse Origins? I know there are a lot of sprites and that would take a long time but I would really apreciate it My main question is, what are some good resources I can get for Eclipse origins and easily install without the hassle of copying and pasting things together. I already have some weapons but I need armor, helmets, and sheilds plus coresponding paperdoll. I need sprites (as I said before) and I want to keep those first to sprites used (for the players) because they are really good. I don't care about the angel however. and than I also need more tilesets. I'm not a very good mapper but when I used XW I was really good at mapping with the zip on the website called '7 eclipse tilesets'. It was inside a .zip folder and was modified for XW but I acually mapped some pretty amazing maps. Especially considering my previous failures. The XW website is down now and I don't have any of those other tilesets in my Eclipse folder. So yeah, I need links to resources, credit will be given, if you could set up those RPGXP sprites for Eclipse Origins I would LOVE that. It might seem like I'm asking for people to do a lot of work for me but I'm not a pixel artist, I fail at any image editing. I can't even draw a decent image on a piece of paper :D Thanks in advance, -Nighthawk0973
  8. Thanks. I've been looking around for some good paperdoll/items. These are going into Alderania Online. :D keep up the good work!
  9. I sort of find this a bit pointless. Sure it's a neat program but isn't creating full 3D models harder than creating 2D sprites? The one thing I find about it is that you don't have to create indivisual sprites for indivisual things, just create the model and compile and do whatever you need to do to create a sprite out of it.
  10. hmm.. are these posts merged or something? (The 'I'm New/Back/Leaving' post and my 'Hello!' post) Because thats what it seems like? I've never been to a forum like this before so I'm very new at this… Edit: Oh now I get it! Just to make sure I really do get it and this isn't a mistake, tell me if this is right: The 'I'm New/Back/Leaving!' post, is for introductions, and when I made my post this person: @Gwen: > Hello and welcome… but we do have a topic for introducing yourself already. > > Im going to try my first topic merge! ^.^ > Hopefully i dont bork this! merged my post into here! That makes sense :D sorry for the confusion (if there was any)
  11. oh I do :O sorry I don't even remember posting on this forum. Sorry, I was multitasking with about 6 windows up and 2-3 IE tabs as well. I tend to do that quite a lot.
  12. hmm.. I'm pretty sure I know the guy who hosted this site. His online alias is 'ExoShox' and he either owns echostorms.net or .com. If it is him than he got most of these for XtremeWorlds. Hence the black backgrounds on a lot of the tilesets and sprite sheets. Nice find though.
  13. I'm new to the Eclipse forums and Eclipse in general, but am not new to MMORPG making, since I've been around XW for quite a while. This sort of gives me an advantage, and I was able to get it up and running a lot easier than other people have. (I'm sure) Plus mapping looks pretty much the same with all the layers and fringe and NPC Avoids etc. Anyways I'm working gathering the required resources right now. XW sprite sheets are a lot easier to get a hold of than indivisual images… Oh well I'll get some soon enough. Why I am not on my computer using XW right now? Website and forums seem to have been hacked and 'Bradyok' developer of XW, hasn't posted on there in a could weeks (maybe a month...) so unless mods can fix it I don't think they'll come back online. So I think I'm going to need help when making my game so why not join up here! I'll see you all around the forums and just wanted to annouce myself before I started posting here!
