  1. > Hahaha, that sucks that Prospekt is rated low, but it's because it's not good, don't ask us to rerate it. Please.

    Alright, there's no need for that, don't start getting too big for your boots. >_>

    **Important EDIT:**

    Right, I'd like to take the oppurtunity to establish these key points.

    This is **ONLY** an index of games, with what is **generally recommended** by the **few** people who've voted, and what they enjoyed. That **doesn't neccessarily make that game better**. There is **NO** cause for flaming, whatsoever, and frankly, it's **annoying**, **rude**, and makes you sound **conceited** and **full of yourself**.

    Most of these games at the time of writing only have **4 or 5 votes at the most,** that is **most certaintly not a justified reason to mock anybody**. I realise, by adding my own opinion for the description, it might be endorsing that, and that's an **unfortunate** flaw, but that's purely for **the reader to get an idea of the good AND bad points of a game, not to base further arguments of it**.

    I realise, I made a few mistakes at the start, what with the personal rating, etc, that'll make me seem hypocritical, but it was never my intent to ever offend anybody.

    **Any posts from here on that I see mocking another, or taking the oppurtunity to advertise will find their votes cleared as a warning**, provided they have a game listed here, regardless of what staff member you are. **Anything further from there, and I will remove your game, and I will not add it back**, so you'll **lose out** on what I hope will become a rather full and growing index. Alongside my action on this topic, **I'll also report your post to a moderator**.

    Now, I realise, there'll be little to discuss without sounding the least bit offensive, but rather than doing that, just vote by PMing me your ratings. I've requested a moderator to clear this thread, apart from the first and this post, and I'd **only** like to see this thread used for **suggestions**, **additions**, or **modifications**. **Not** arguments on the accumulated votes.

    **TL;DR: If you're going to mock somebody, get out of this thread.**
  2. Joyce, I know why it happens. From what I can find, when you decrease the map-size, and send it to the server, MapBlocks(mapnum).Blocks(x, y) is never ReDim Preserved, as a result, it attempts to use this array against an array that doesn't exist, although, it doesn't always happen, which makes me think I'm still missing something out…just haven't tested it yet. xD

    I'm sure I pointed it out, if I didn't, I meant to, and just forgot. :3

    ~~You don't need to~~ delete your maps~~, just click-and-drag the yellow line whenever it happens for now, and lemme go find my fix, quickly.~~

    EDIT 2: Actually, if it's from 2.3, to 3, you do, but UpdateMapBlocks is still an issue, anyway.

    EDIT: In SaveMap, underneath "Put #F, , Map(mapnum).MaxY", adding "Call CacheMapBlocks(mapnum)" appeared to fix it for me. Haven't really tested it enough to say for sure, if I'm honest, so, just try it out. :3
  3. Here's my progress as it stands:

    [http://lennstest.zap…site/index.html](http://lennstest.zapto.org/site/index.html)

    It's completely messed up in Firefox, IE9, and Opera, which I'll need to fix, it's fine in Chrome.

    EDIT: On the bright-side, it looks good on the 3DS Browser. XD. Incidentally, that's based on Opera, so I'm confused on how it's functioning. xD

    Still didn't get that star-background. ~_~
  4. Of course a community rating would be -way- better, and it was the original plan, but considering I've only received votes from -1- person, how am I meant to do that? My solution was to use my ratings, until each game had a sufficient amount of ratings to go by (At least 4/5 each would do).

    Maybe it's because of the fact I put it over the mini-review, but the TL:DR rating is meant to be a summary of that…might make more sense if I put it underneath it. xD

    EDIT: Oh, and I removed the TL:DR ratings from games in development, as I realised, that's taking subjectivity too far.

    EDIT 2: Actually, I'm just removing them altogether. Lemme give the thread a quick revamp.

    > The community rating, being a function about how the community feels about it, is OK. But an individual rating which receives MORE weight than any other rating is a terrible idea and bound to cause arguments.

    Fully aware of that, but like I said, I can't do much until I get some ratings, until then.

    EDIT 2: Changed my mind, decided to just do it, and add as I go along.

    **PM ME WITH YOUR RATINGS FOR ANY OF THESE GAMES!**
  5. Before this topic becomes a flame war…

    **@[Colonello](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/index.php?/user/66139-colonello/)**

    Basically, it stems to this: if you wish to make a fan-game, the best thing would be to ask for permission from the company that the franchise belongs to. If they say no, your planning should end there and then. If they say yes, which isn't as rare as people make it out to be, then great, carry on.

    Now, I'm out of this topic, I have nothing to do with the inevitable, g'bye.
  6. How does it butcher their intent to learn? People see the wrong version, find the right version, write down the right version, and learn that the right version is the one they should use. Is that concept -really- so hard/annoying to grasp in a topic with -one- sub? ¬_¬

    Incidentally, it was correcting spelling mistakes that helped me remember various functions and data types for VB when I first started learning.
  7. > That is retarded. You will have many people down the line bitching about it not working because they lack the mentality to read tutorials. Its been proven. All you have done here is waste your time with nonsense of screwing something up.
    >
    > So for those who skimmed it and just copied and past it here is the completed work. It should contain all the spelling mistakes…

    No it isn't. It's to make people actually read the function of the code, and anybody who does start that would just be ignored.

    If you can't be bothered to read a tutorial, and at least learn from one procedure of code, you don't deserve the final product. Simple.

    And, would you mind removing that? I don't appreciate you undermining the point of trying to show somebody something, however simple.

    > Now, **in order to actually made you read, I have made 5 mistakes, on purpose**! They are nothing more than spelling mistakes/omissions, so, it can't be that hard to fix.

    It's safe to say you didn't read. ;>
  9. No he's not. He says you **will**, as in, it's definitely going to happen. We're trying to tell him it doesn't guarantee being sued, and that you're **liable** to, not **will** be, but either way, there's still a risk.

    With a franchise like Call of Duty, I imagine you would, quite soon.
  10. Haha, you love predicting the ultimately worst outcome possible, don't you? Honestly, you ARE irritating.

    Let's look at Pokémon Cyrus Online. It's a crappy little game done in EE, yet they have 55,000 registered members, and last time I checked, neither Cyrus nor Mondo have had either of their internet cut at once, and Nintendo have notified them to take it down, they just ignored them. They're perfectly fine. At the time of writing, they have 89 players online-ingame, 2 being staff, and 184 registered members on their forum, out of 888 prospective guests.

    And like you said, risk, meaning it's not definite. You'd have to be extremely unlucky to get an outcome like that.

    Oh, and please, try and know what you're talking about, they won't usually contact your ISP, they'll usually contact YOU.
  11. Ignore Dawntide, he's being the usual irritating cynic.

    Eckhart is right, technically speaking, it's illegal without explicit permission, but some don't care enough to bother, or some may never notice you for a long time.

    Giving credit DOES NOT nullify these liabilities.
  12. It's about time I posted a tutorial, even though this is a simple one.

    This functions on any version of EO, whether it be EO XMAS, EO 2.3, or some random custom version.

    Each time the server starts up, some choose to unlock it, to maximise performance. What this does is unlock it whenever there is at least four players online, and lock it whenever there's less than 3\. This means, that when your server's at it's peak time, you're not pointlessly wasting your computers resources, and you can also just leave your server there to run by itself.

    First off, add this sub.

    ```
    Public Sub CheckLockUnlockServer()
    Dim p As Lng, a As Byter
    ' Change this number to change the amount of people it requires to induce unlocking/locking!
    a = 4
    ' First, we check how much we have online.
    p = [code]TotalPlayersOnline[/code].
    ' Next, we check
    If p >= a Then ' In this case, we can unlock the server, as enough are online!
    CPSUnlock = Tru
    Else ' But here, there's less than the amount wanted, so, lock it and save up.
    CPSUnlock = False
    End If
    End ub
    ```

    Now, in order to actually made you read, I have made 5 mistakes, on purpose! They are nothing more than spelling mistakes/omissions, so, it can't be that hard to fix.

    Next, we need to look for

    ```
    TotalPlayersOnline
    ```

    Which is only found in four places: the sub we just added, Sub JoinGame, Sub LeftGame, and it's variable declaration.

    Inside Sub JoinGame, and Sub LeftGame, underneath TotalPlayersOnline, add the call to this function:

    ```
    CheckLockUnlockServer
    ```

    And you're done! Now you don't have to go to your server to unlock it, and you can just leave it on a computer somewhere to run.

    _What about the [lock]/[unlock]?_

    My server functions like a command-line interface, so, I didn't add it. If you do, it's not difficult, but that's not my issue. :>

    Tested on own server, and vanilla EO2\. Functions fine.

    There you go, a full list of the ones that I know of, complete with opinion, and rating, and hopefully soon, community ratings.
  16. > You should add a poll and add the community rating and your rating. This way if a game has

    Hm, could do, but I'm limited to three questions per topic. I guess I could just take PMs, and log 'em down. ;d
  17. The TLDRers Eclipse Game Index

    * * *

    Note to Developers: **T****his is NOT the place for you to advertise your game**, or make announcements. **You have your own topics for that**. This is a thread for helping people make decisions about what Eclipse game is generally recommended. The **only** exception to that is if you want to **add/update** your game to/on the list.

    Failure to comply would lead to your game being removed from the list. No exceptions. (hee hee)

    * * *

    **Active Games
    These are games that are more or less always online, and are ready to play. Click their titles to try them out!

    In order to qualify being listed here, you must simply have a 24/7 server up. That's all!

    **[Aloria Online](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/index.php?/topic/130637-wip-aloria-online/)**
    Developed by Rob Janes, Aaron, and Spencer.

    Not really sure about this, haven't played it yet. Give me time!

    **[Crystalshire: Tales of the Savage Cow](http://crystalshire.com/)**
    Developed by Robin and Rory.

    Crystalshire has to be one of the most visually pretty games to pass this forum in a while, unfortunately, that's all it really is: visually pretty. While there is some content to play around with, it's relatively short, and once you're done, the most fun you can really do is round up a few members, and take on the Molten Lady. There are plans to overhaul Crystalshire, in a positive step, so, it is worth another look at another point in time, that being said, it is worth a look now.

    **[EverEmber Online](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/index.php?/topic/128917-everember-online-alpha-v08/) (Note: This game is in ALP****HA)**
    Developed by Kajamaz.
    _**Community Rating**: 5.2/10 (Collective result of 5 member ~~_[1 (0), 2 (0), 3 (0), 4 (3), 5 (0), 6 (1), 7 (0), 8 (1), 9 (0), 10(0)])_

    EverEmber Online is a nice way to curb boredom, and it has been one of the first games in a while to kick that inactivity/drop mentality. The content is a bit broken, but, there's a lot of content, so, who cares about that bit? The mapping can be improved, various spelling mistakes need to be fixed, and the GUI needs a redesign, but it's an alpha: it can and will change.

    **[Iron Prelude Returns](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/index.php?/topic/130775-iron-prelude-returns-playable-247/) (Note: This game is in BETA)**
    Developed by Carim, Synergy, TorenRenne, and Ghostly, Published by [Glaciate](http://glaciate.net).

    Uh, I'll try to not sound biased. So, Iron Prelude Returns is the rebut of an ORPG that was developed here on Eclipse during 2010/2011\. The game was stopped, and nearly collected dust, before being returned with updated content, and better functionality. It's interfaces are a bit dated, but it all appears as if it'll be changed.

    **[World Life Warfare](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/community/index.php?/topic/113891-wip-world-life-warfare-0432/)**
    Developed by Erwin.

    World Life Warfare is enjoyable, and it strays from the typical Eclipse game being fantasy/medieval-based. Unfortunately, it's in the wrong engine. World Life Warfare is the kind of game that needs real-time fast-paced action, not a top-down tile-based engine where you skip around if you have high ping. That being said, it is fun with other people, and I did accidentally stray into some areas that were in development a couple of times, but with relatively decent mapping, and great content, it's fun to play.

    What happened to games in development?

    I decided, it's not really easy to maintain, as games seem to come and go at the flick of a switch here. So, I thought, don't bother! See it as incentive to get your game active!

    If there are any mistakes, or if you'd like me to add/remove your game here please tell me in a reply, or send me a PM!~~_**
