  1. i am quite a newbie at mmo development, so i got some questions, i hope there is somoene who can help me. 1\. Player Movment, Currently i am Storing every Player Movement in a database, this is actually very ineffecient imagine 1000k players? What should i do? 2\. Maps, Currently iam drawing only a big map which is a massiv amount of data, i am trying to find the best way to anchor different maps togher and when to draw what etc anyone got some nice logic about these things?
  2. Hey guys, i have been working a few weeks now on a pokemon like MMORPG, which is to be played in browser! (html5) yeah u dont have to download anything just visit the site and start playing, well when its complete! - Why is it only Pokemon Like? I dont wanna create just a copy of Pokemon but Something new, it shall have the aspects of Pokemon we like, like the turn based battle system and catching monsters but, with costom made Monsters, and the focus shall be on PvP with tournaments, and so on! Beside that the monsters shall all be somehow balanced, but have counters and become more costomizeable! all that stuff i still must think about better and work in. I have been using Tiles found on this forum, sorry i dont remember who it was but who evers tiles they are please tell me so i can credit him! and i created some tiles myself. [attachment=1464:screenshot.png] The players will be costomizeable, from the begining, every player can choose his preferable Hair Cut & Color, and Clothes can be costomized! But for this game to become real, i need help! I am doing as much as i can, regarding programming and designing but this is where I am not so good at and would love to get helped in! Anyone who wants to share or contribute to the game with graphical stuff just post it below or send me a PM :D i would apriciate it!   7. i have wasted some time in learning three.js and creating this basic scene :) I will try to put now some animated basic Monster Models on this sceene! If all goes fine i will add my fighting system to it and try out animated Skills :D it doesnt look like much but there is much more code behind this shitty scene than u think xD [attachment=1121:screenshot 6.jpg] And here is a screenshot of the "world map" This is where you land when log in and here u can navigate further either the Market, Ranking, Forest for Training vs NPC, Mystery shop, and at the Top When you press Fight, the Matchmaking System will look for a player to fight with.
  8. some updates :) Login & Account Creation is done :) Pressing Play Now brings up the login/Register screen After logging in you land on the "Map" i personally dont like it, there is somthing wrong, well i thought about making 4 Spots * Market ( Sell /Trade Monsters) * Leaderboard (Who is King of Monsters and the Ranking) * Wildness / Forest ( Train your Monster Till Level 10 than you have to Fight other Players to level up the exp from Wildness will be too low!) * Mystery shop ( A Shop where you can buy Mystery eggs which breed in Random Monster, Or Potions and other stuff that help you in Fights Market & Wildness Buttons are "done" i used some resource from the internet to create them thats why probably it wont look apealing, well for me not xD Left Upper Part of the Map is reserved for Account Information, like rating, Monsters in Team, Button to Access more Account Information Pressing the Fight Button which is disabled for players without any Monster Level 10+ Starts searching for a Opponent to Fight with! I thought about using webgl to create some king of 3D scene for the map & Fight Scene, but it has become too much work ( creating 3D models for every little thing) Maybe in the future when people like the game :) So guys I need your opinion :)
  9. thanks, i didnt thought much about the name, i thoguht i will call it like this for now can change it later :) many i will concentrate on the features and making the game playable now :) its porbbaly wont be like pokemon with a world to travel through rather It will be like this that you can buy mystery eggs from the shop that give breath of an random Monster! There will be also a market where players can sell to each other their Monsters on the differnt level! One big goal of the game will be to posses all Monsters Another to be the King of Monsters, (beeing the strongest) I will try to balance every Monster to be equaly strong just depending on the element you can have an advantage and depending on the food you grow your monster with and the Skill Set (Max 5 Skills) that will make the difference Any suggestions, ideas etc are welcome :)

But i would say more maybe 2 people got the same idea? XD anyways i have a bit different approach and a different out come! I have not been for very long on this forum but was surprised by this Comunity which i have to thank for all it got :D here is my Game Monster!! Well its not my maintime job i am jsut a hobby / amateur programmer, i have written some Apps ( yeah mobile apps and games) which are bit pathatic but anyways I have the abilites to design very well, and know PHP/JS/ASP ( c#) :D So i Came with this idea! Actually its nothing New! But people loved pokemon so i thought about something similair its about Monsters you can Tame! ( yeah i know bit like pokemon xD) Every player starts with a Egg that he has to breed during his journey the egg brings up a total random Monster out of the 100 Monster ( that currently exsist in my note book ) Monsters Grow and Evovle to Bigger monsters xD Every Monster has a Skill Sheet and can be tought new Skills, by training them doing special Training! All Monsters can be Classified into 4 Elements [attachment=1105:earth.png][attachment=1106:fire.png][attachment=1107:air.png][attachment=1108:water.png] earth - fire - air - water Every Element is Stronger than the other creating an circuite of Power gonna explain it another Time Further! Every Monster has some stats: The Element, The Level, the Power Defense Magic Power and Magic Defense, Speed, All these Stats can be an advantage in any fights! ( try to keep the description short) So the Game is about Monsters that fight each others uhm … well i try it somehow other all above nobody will ready anyways xD **Features** * Turnbased Monster Fights * up to 100 Different Monsters * A big world to Explore and meet all Monsters! * Create your team of best Monsters! * Monsters can develope individually depending on the food * Every player can have only 1 Monster! ( who knows maybe it changes in future) * Monsters get stronger in Fights! * Stamina gets lower every few minutes, u gotta feed your Monster Constantly, depending on the food it evovles individually! **Progress** * Basic Engine : 30% ( php severside) * Monsters: 2 out of 100 (Frontal & Back Graphic, Stats, Skill Set) * Skills: 1 out X ( dont know yet how many skills i gonna create) ( Animation, Function) * Client: Website Login Register, Home, Fight, Done * Sounds dont know if i gonna add some xD here is a Screenshot of the current Fighting Scene! I got a lil problem wiht my drag & drop script: ``` Private Sub picInventory_MouseMove(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single) Dim newLeft As Long Dim newTop As Long If Button = vbLeftButton Then newLeft = (X + picInventory.Left) newTop = (Y + picInventory.top) picInventory.Move newLeft, newTop End If ``` The window left top corner automaticly goes to the mouse pointer xD What I want is a drag and drop where u can drag the window from anywhere without having it switching the corner to ur pointer; But else the drop&drop works xD its I think only a lil thing which is missing OK SOLOVED THE PROBLEM I added a varaible to mousdown which stores the pressed mousebutton X and Y and took them from the changing X and Y in Mouse move

Btw how can I make GUI elements half transparent: I mean a part of it to be transparent, I tried to make it pink, but it don't work I got also an suggestion; could you make so that Black eg Unused Parts of the Screen; for example the map is 17x11 and the Screen can take 23x17 that I can for example put a tile which applys for all the parts? U know what I mean? And if possible centralize maps which are smaller than the screen; if i would know how todo it I would have doen it myself xD
  22. I got an bug to report, Idk if somebody else did but I noticed that u can attack yourself, idk if its meant to be so xD and I guess u can also attack party members means area spells are a bad idea xD EG Axe on hotbar and than select urself and press hotbar key;

    soul thats what i meant xD and I know i need vb6 but what i dun know how todo it? I think it would be helpful to know where in code the map will be generated. I think idk if its possible, but when i check once the X coords and tehy are smallery than the X Coords of the Screen which are I think 14 than I Take the Difference btw X coords of Map and Max X Coords and start the map from the half Difference same with y: like: Map:X=5 Y=5 Max:X=14 Y=11 14-5= 9 9 Is How many coords on both sides! SO I do /2 => 4,5 => I have to make it to 4. If MapX < MaxX Then (MaxX-MapX)/2 = StartingX End … somehow let mape now start from StartingX Why devided through 2? Because the Difference is on both Sides togher
