edache
Hey there, well this is a quick tutorial I decided to make to help you create 3D text with photoshop. This tutorial is rather simple, and the text I did is not very detailed, as I wanted to focus only on the 3D effect. But I'm pretty sure you'll be able to come up with your own, stylish and eye-catching text effects using this technique.Well on to the tutorial then.First open a new file in photoshop, the size doesn't really matter as long as your text fits there.Once you've done that, use the Text tool to write whatever you want your text to say. Mine will say "Edache" xDD.![](http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/3922/81918009.png)Once you're happy with your text rasterize that layer, or simplify it in case you only have photoshop elements (like me *cry*) xDD; in order to be able to edit it freely. Now on the layers palette select the text layer and click the "lock transparent pixels"button. What this does, is basically just blocks everything that is empty on that layer, which with this example would mean that only the text would be affected by any change I tried to do on that layer.![](http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/5825/72023703.png)So we create a black to white gradient and only the text will be affected.![](http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/8098/61539915.png)![](http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/8923/71838830.png)After that is done, go to image>transform>perspective![](http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/6462/96989971.png)And edit the image like this![](http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/3921/82528248.png)Press enter, or click on the check mark once you're happy with your result.((you can use skew or distort to create different effects too)).And after that, click on the move tool (that black arrow with a cross at its side) and holding down alt press the up arrow key a couple of times (you can hold it down to if you want…).What this does is create a coppy of the previous layer and moves it up one pixel, after doing this 15 times I was happy with how mine looked and stopped pressing the arrow key.![](http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/1795/35144258.png)Give an overlay to the layer on top to make in stand out from the rest…![](http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/3552/56269150.png)And your 3D text is finished! You can add more effects or modify some of the steps of this tutorial to achieve better results.![](http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/7972/28716860.png)Hope you find this useful!P.S. I know this tutorial could be improved, I'm in a rush right now so I did it kinda fast and careless, I'll come back later to edit it a bit…

vrage
you can use the distort tool and make it oblique as well, that'd make it look swell
