As most of you know, I'm not a pixel artist, but I've been practicing over the past few days. With the help of slym's critique, I made these tiles, and i want to know what you think

-edit-
i need suggestions on how to make the transition better. I'm terrible at making things uneven, probably because of my OCD.

thanks for the positive feedback. =D.

For the water tile, all i really did was put a nice cool blue color and put some less value and more transparency. And, well that's all i really did. xD.

The grass, however, was not as easy. It took me 6 tries and like 3 hours. xD

> use a spray can tool or something like that to blend better. They tile nice but the transitions are bad

horrible idea. Use the pencil. I can talk about on msn if you need any help learning how to transition.

To fix your transition problem.. Go in GIMP, and choose the Blur or Smudge tool. I forget which one. Now, **very lightly** smudge or blur the sides of the grass and sand. Now the water tiles. Smudge or blur the edges of sand and water.. and make a darker version (blueish) under the water where you blurred or smudged it. That's how I do it.

7/10, nice try!
One thing. Make the tiles straight, they don't look like they are going 180 degrees.

you aren't a pixel artist at all. Infact I just lost a hell of a lot of respect for you.

That is the worst idea I've ever read. Seriously, do NOT, under any circumstances, use a blur or smudge tool for sprites and tile type graphics!

Anyway, dithering works very well for tile transitiions I think, atleast for an easy cheap way to do it. I think I put up a transition template for ground tiles in the Resources section, pre-dithered.
