Pbcrazy
Alright, here's a thought I'd like you all to maul over.Consider making a ORPG (say with EO), but small. Say, max resolution for the game is 256x192 (thats 8 x 6 tiles). What features would be needed, and what features would just begin to take up space? What special scenarios might you create instead of the generic ORPG?So far, off the top of my head, crucial features would be-scrolling maps (obviously)-per pixel movement/collision system-tiny menu, small bar at the bottom or top or side with a few buttons. Health bar can be under player name.-NOT hot key/bar whatever that thing is. that would just take up space.I'll post other stuff I come up with later. I'm still working this one over.Food for thought.
Mikekan13
I don't know so much about the resolution and graphics being tiny but I am all for less clutter and menus. Although knit stories was super tiny and it had a certain beauty that I loved. I hate menus and I am always trying to think of ways to get rid of them. Like in my game I don't even tell you character or item stats. It will just be a one menu system that opens your inventory and paper doll. No numbers and only maybe a short description and name of an item. I have even considered not showing health and just making the players sprite change the more damage or status ailments they take.
