beckymegan
Changed the buttons, again ;) Thanks for all the help Robin btw, I am learning tons ;D![](http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz180/Beckymegan/fas.jpg)
Helpmeplz
Improved….Alright lets see what happens when the white line is changed to a inner glow. Those buttons need to match the style of the contents box. Also you didn't anti-alias your text.
Robin
Make the text smaller. Around 14px as I said. Set it to 'smooth' or something in the text system in Photoshop. Also change them to white and give them a drop shadow. Remove the double-lined white from the box in the middle. Change it to 1px of inner glow with overlayed white. Choose 'Precise' instead of 'Softer' for the inner glow.Oh, and choose better colours as I said before. That brown is horrible and clashes with the green in the middle.
beckymegan
Ok, I fixed the text (size 14 Verdana, smooth setting). I made the buttons have a drop shadow (2px right, 2px down) and made them a better green color vs. the weird brown. I also deleted the white border and made it a 1px inner glow like Robin suggested.Tada!![](http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz180/Beckymegan/daa.jpg)
Robin
Make the text smaller. Please. Look at all those GUIs I posted. The font selection is a big deal. Don't take it lightly. I'm still spending terrible amounts of time creating and modifying the fonts used in Crystalshire. You really need to work hard on getting it to look right. beckymegan
Got it, sorry :\ Back to work.
Robin
Oh, and make sure you centralise it properly when you do add it in. You can drag the text tool in Photoshop to create a box. Line it up perfectly with the width of the button and it'll centralise it for you.
beckymegan
I'm liking this font much more, and I believe I'm done with this so far. Closing comments? ;) (Great improvement from the beginning, and I was so happy with it yesterday)![](http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz180/Beckymegan/fasfsa.jpg)
Robin
Not a fan of the font. You'll have to do a lot of work to make it fit in properly. In the mean time you can remove that 2px border on the main block. Set it to 1px.Also start adding in the actual form controls. dxxknight
Glad you keep trying to improve it and attempting to listen to Robin most people don't and the GUI turns out horrible. I too am going to try making a custom GUI but it's a pain to get a good theme going but once you find it it makes doing the rest a bit easier. beckymegan
Agree, I did look at some before I made my second GUI and a lot of the ones I was looking at were pretty bad. I am very happy Robin is trying to help. My latest GUI is much, much better than my first :)
Robin
Just realised you added the drop shadow to the buttons themselves. I meant add the drop shadow to the text on the buttons.

beckymegan
Sorry for the double post but, I finished! (Yay!)News (Probably will look better as I add more "news" stories, this part is still a WIP for sure)![](http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz180/Beckymegan/1-1.png)Login![](http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz180/Beckymegan/2-1.png)Register/Create a New Character![](http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz180/Beckymegan/3-1.png)![](http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz180/Beckymegan/4-1.png)
Robin
No, no, no, no, _NO!_Okay, here's my ultimatum; To be a graphics designer you need to be able to look at your own work and decide whether it looks good or not. You don't need to have to spot all the flaws and you don't need to know how to make everything - that comes with practise. You need to be able to understand whether something looks good. If you look at this, see solid black and magenta on pea green and the most annoying font ever and you think it looks good then our business here is concluded.Understanding colour and fonts is something you can't learn. Oh sure, you can try and copy other people and you can _pretend_, but if you don't see the problems with this then there's no way I can help you to learn. evilbunnie
You're getting _much_ better. Good job. However I too dislike that font, it kinda ruins the whole theme you're trying to give off.
Nayte
Looking much better, but Robin is the one to give you the tough love you need, so I'll let him do his job :p Keep up the improvement, dude.
beckymegan
Tough love hurts :'( But thanks guys ;) I'm gonna go look at some fonts again (if anyone has a suggestion that will help ;) ) I completely overlooked the fact about the black box and the pink, but I've already changed it on mine and I'll upload again after I find a better font. Thanks again guys :)
