My First GUI Ever

Make the text smaller. Around 14px as I said. Set it to 'smooth' or something in the text system in Photoshop.

Also change them to white and give them a drop shadow. Remove the double-lined white from the box in the middle. Change it to 1px of inner glow with overlayed white. Choose 'Precise' instead of 'Softer' for the inner glow.

Oh, and choose better colours as I said before. That brown is horrible and clashes with the green in the middle.

Ok, I fixed the text (size 14 Verdana, smooth setting). I made the buttons have a drop shadow (2px right, 2px down) and made them a better green color vs. the weird brown. I also deleted the white border and made it a 1px inner glow like Robin suggested.
Tada!

Make the text smaller. Please. Look at all those GUIs I posted. The font selection is a big deal. Don't take it lightly. I'm still spending terrible amounts of time creating and modifying the fonts used in Crystalshire. You really need to work hard on getting it to look right.

Glad you keep trying to improve it and attempting to listen to Robin most people don't and the GUI turns out horrible. I too am going to try making a custom GUI but it's a pain to get a good theme going but once you find it it makes doing the rest a bit easier.

Sorry for the double post but, I finished! (Yay!)

News (Probably will look better as I add more "news" stories, this part is still a WIP for sure)

No, no, no, no, _NO!_

Okay, here's my ultimatum; To be a graphics designer you need to be able to look at your own work and decide whether it looks good or not. You don't need to have to spot all the flaws and you don't need to know how to make everything - that comes with practise.

You need to be able to understand whether something looks good. If you look at this, see solid black and magenta on pea green and the most annoying font ever and you think it looks good then our business here is concluded.

Understanding colour and fonts is something you can't learn. Oh sure, you can try and copy other people and you can _pretend_, but if you don't see the problems with this then there's no way I can help you to learn.

Tough love hurts :'( But thanks guys ;) I'm gonna go look at some fonts again (if anyone has a suggestion that will help ;) ) I completely overlooked the fact about the black box and the pink, but I've already changed it on mine and I'll upload again after I find a better font. Thanks again guys :)
