seppie
Just as the title says. I'm curious about what each Range is for every NPC. Or, more precisely, what range is. I'm guessing it's the action that the NPC will perform, am I correct?
Myron
That would mean the amount of tiles the NPC can see the player. So if you set a NPC to automatically attack a Player, the range will decide how far away the player can be before the NPC spots him/her.So if you would choose 5\. And the player is 5 tiles away from a NPC, the NPC will attack/follow the player.
seppie
That really helps me a lot. Thank you. So if I set the NPC to friendly, with 0 range, it wouldn't move?
Myron
No, the range is something you could see as the NPC's view. The bigger the number in range the further the NPC can see.
seppie
Ah. I understand now. :) Thanks. One other thing… I have trouble with some NPCs not wanting to be talked to. In other words, I'll have something for them to say but when I talk to them, they say nothing at all. They don't even turn towards me.
Myron
Are those NPC's friendly? And do they have a 'Speech' (What they would say) set?
seppie
I have them set to friendly, yes, and yes they have a speech. However, I have them boxed in with NPC AVOID tiles. Would that affect it if a player was standing on one?
Myron
No. NPC avoid is to make sure NPC avoids standing on that tile. But it's a possibility.. I'll open my own EO atm and test if it doesn't work for me also.

Myron
No, it isn't working for me either.. Strange. Maybe there is a other button to talk to the NPC. I haven't really touched EO in a long time so I'm not sure if it has been changed or this is just a bug.I'll continue testing to see if it works, else I'll look here on the forums for a possible answer.Edit: Found the problem.Make sure your map isn't set in Safe Zone. You can change that at: Map Editor -> Properties -> Moral. Myron
Alright.. Is it possible you could post a screenshot of the NPC in your NPC Editor? I'd like to see if it's all set right.
Robin
They need to have stats and health of at least 1 to be counted as alive and thus talkable.
