So if my animation has 5000 frames I need to do that? lol… you would be quicker learning C+ and using a flash library.
  2. Personally I would go for Bravenet or anything thats free that includes a sub-domain, so you
can at least have www.yourname.t5.com or something similar.  Ive been using freeservers . com
for almost 5 years now and they dont require you to login, at all - and you can pretty much put any content
    on it without being nailed.

Bravenet allow you to have multiple sites under the same account and the php admin is slick.

If you didnt resize them, how come they have such a bad raster?

And a Union Jack is part of the Australian flag and it represents the Monarchy, you have one in the background of your picture.
  4. @franqetesh:

    > This game idea is very nice ;)…And nice Jabba the Hut... But... Huts as a playable class? O_o

    Heheh yep, why not…

I dont want to make a game thats a clone of something thats already out... and so far no one lets you be a hutt or a Jawa  -so now you can  :)

The beauty about making your own game.... do what ever the heck you want!
  5. Edges on the buttons look cheap. Instead of making them small and making them bigger… make them HUGE and re-size them down instead - you wont get such a bad crop.

Lol I do find it cool an American has the Union Jack in the background tho :)
  6. On my version of eclipse 2.7 when im in the screen making a new character (new character not new account) all is fine… then if i hit cancel and go back to the previous screen then go BACK into character create.. the image of the player sprite you see when you are creating your character keeps moving up.

Keep going back and forth and it keeps moving up and up and up eventualy off screen.

Anyone else or did i screw my code up somewhere?
  7. I wish you the best of luck, I myself am working on a Star Wars MORPG - PixelWarz , ooh on and off for about 2 years now. To those others talking about StarWars Galaxies - I played that for about 4 years, and have more lvl 90 toons than I can keep track of, 8 cities and the list goes on. It had its day sure.. but the game is dying and Star Wars The Old Republic from Bioware (hopefully) will blow SWG out of the water.

My game will be closer to the Pre-Cu time, where you can have multiple professions… jedi is impossible to become etc... but it wont be a SWG rip off. Im trying to make the quests and profession trees as original as I can while still sticking to the period between EpIII and EpIV.

Many people have started a Star Wars morpg, but I havent seen one finish. I didnt bother posting anything about my game until it was at least 50 percent done. With any luck the new EE3.0 will see the improvements we so need for any futuristic / space game.

    regards,
  8. Thanks, yeah its pretty fun to make. I'm not a fan-game person myself really, but hey who doesnt like StarWars, and as far as content for the game.. its just endless. I'm all for making _completely_ original games and am making some others on the side but this is the only morpg im working on.

Well I wont post the whole lot, but this is the general idea for the Races/classes/ professions.

I've added a fair bit to the source and it was pretty much the first thing I did before even starting the game. I also removed Male/Female gender selection and instead have all the races male/female as Classes, ie Human Male is class1, female class 2 and so on. I don't know if its just me but I found the male/female to be a bit buggy in EE2.7.

  10. This thread is so flammable… I feel it could combust at any moment.

    #1 Capitals annoying.

#2 Thats alot of people required for a game that has absolutely no direction yet. You replied to someone asking about the plot and said email me here and tell me what you would write....(????)

How about you post a **general** outline of what the game MIGHT be like (or the game you are hoping all these people will make for you) All the additions to the source code you mentioned are pretty standard and are sort of the first things you do when you start improving the base source code.

Im keen to see you 'awesome new loading bar'  ;)

    Yours sincerely.
  11. @killerminx:

    > Ive seen the sprites before but it sounds like you got a good idea and your rollin with it awesome. I liked the blue gui. Anyways good luck on the game.

Thanks, and yeah as I mentioned in post#1, they are Sithjesters Sprites from :
    http://www.untamed.wild-refuge.net/rpgxp.php

He just wants credit thats all, which is a pretty good deal if you ask me! and besides, I havent seena game released with those sprites yet - would be such a shame for them not to ever see the light-of-game.

    @Frog..

Yeah I did think about that some time ago, hence the reason I got a template of Sithjester and have learnt to make my own in that style. TBH the only one that didnt come from some other template and I made from scratch was Jabba - every other race I mentioned already has quite a cool sprite.

If you pick Hutt as a race you start off as a Hutt infant - when i get home ill post the sprite. Jabba was particulary tough because hes long and fat and doesnt really conform to a 32x64 sprite.
  12. @James:

    > Looks great what races will be available?

Human, Zabrak, Wookie, Jawa, Twi'lek and Hutt so far, more wil be added. No SW game yet has let me be a Jawa or a Hutt, So i'm putting those in for fun. The Hutt idea was the basis for player housing  - no Hutt is complete without a palace or Sail Barge,  these are things you work towards in the game for that race.

@Boneimus..haha agreed mate, before I even started my game I made sure I passed the 3 golden rules.

    * Learn to Port Forward
    * Learn how to customise the GUI and game
    * Search for the answers you seek thoroughly before asking someone, chances
are they already solved yor problem.
  13. @Boneimus:

    > Looks promising
    > And shooting NPC's is a must…. how else will you have spaceship fights..

Very true, yeah space has been a bit of a headache for me in this game. I do have space, but currently all you can do at the moment is fly an xwing to board a Corellian Cruiser or Star Destroyer. I will post my Millenium Falcon soon (im a bit picky, it needs some polishing) which you do board and get to run around. It's basically a 3D model with the roof off looking down, made into tiles and set out over 4 maps.

Can someone give me an honest opinion please, Im stuck between the red/yellow theme for the GUI or the Bluey/pixel background..
Pls ignore the buttons they change daily, still working on some of the gui… and ignore the lower ones resolution, it got compressed along the way somewhere... should be nice and sharp.

  14. Well Ill be brief..

PixelWarz is a StarWars based MORPG. Its not meant to be serious, just some fun because I love StarWars, and also because I found those cool SithJester Sprites that are free to use (and easy to modify).

If anyone has played StarWars Galaxies, this is a little like that I suppose, but more like KOTOR.

The crafting scripts are going well, unfortunately NPCS dont fire projectiles, so Im hoping Eclipse 3.0 has that in it (crosses fingers) Mining scripts have been added too with tonnes of resources for crafting.

Space and  travelling to other planets might be added later, the ships just
dont move like ships, they move like people walking which isnt very spacey. It could be
done sure, but not well enough to enjoy playing.

Ill just put the title screen up for now, ill update this thread fairly often.

Ok .. The tutorial quest for:
    Race: Human
    Profession : Force Dependant

    Start Planet: Tatoonie
    Tutorial Quest #1–----------------
If you choose Force Dependant as a Profession, and choose either Human, Jawa or Twi'Lek - you will Start on Tatooine. Wookies on Kashyyk and so on.

    Spawn Point Human: Mos Espa
    Spawn Point Twi'Lek: Wayfar Station
Spawn Point Jawa: The Jundland Wastes.

Ill give you the starter for Human

You start out in Mos Espa, well the map adjacent to it. You are a young man, working for Weingarth's Moisture Farms.  Weingarth is a relatively easy going boss, never one to get too emotional.

Weingarth says Moisture Vaporator 883A is showing a fault, ride out and assess the situation.

This is your first taste of combat, seems some Womp Rats have been chewing through the pipes to get to the water in the vaporator… Now it's hand to hand.. fighting off 5 Womp Rats.. which gets you your first taste of XP. One or two of the Womp Rats should drop some fur/hide. Take it, you can sell it very soon.

    == interlude, sorry.. ====
_Its at this point you get to decide which way your life is going to turn out so to speak. This is the part of my game thats hopefully a little different - not completely original but something other than just levelling up.)

If you decide to go back to Weingarth, and tell him the fault.. not only will he give you some money to go buy some new piping and a new moisture seal, you have started the path to the Light side, and you dont know it yet.

If you choose to say "ok screw you guys, im going home" and leave work and just decide to do your own thing thats fine… you can still pick up the Legacy quest later, and have one notch in your belt for the Sith and after all.... all roads lead to Mos Eisly - so take the right path or the wrong path, you still end up in the same spot, but with different directions (ie Sith/Jedi)._
    ====interlude over======

Ok so you decided to fix the vaporator and go get the stuff… its off to Toschi Station.

Once again... faced with a dilemma.. Do i keep the 30 credits Weingarth gave me and go to the cantina? or do i actually buy the stuff (which costs 20 credits)

Buy it?  > Weingarth thanks you, tells you to keep the change, and get off work early to head down the Cantina (note you dont have to go, but thats where the next quest starts) Reward  - You get some more XP, more Jedi points (and now have 10 credits - and a job still! (which means more quests for jedi points… good deeds and stuff. These are only avaliable for the first 5 levels of questing, eventually his last quest will take you to the cantina where you will meet Han Solo for the next set of quests. Han will treat you differently depending on your Jedi/Sith points and assign different quests after that. After Han you encounter Jabba and so on. Thats enough for now.

    You are a Sith!
Gimme the Cash!! > So you decide to take the money and run, bugger fixing the vaporator - workings for chumps.

Bad ? : You now have 30 credits, no job - Weingarth wont give you anymore quests. You are now officially unemployed. The only place for you is to down your sorrows with the 30 credits and buy a drink. You can of course freely explore the planet and pick up other quests, but the Legacy quests continue from Mos Eisly Cantina where you meet Han Solo (and Greedo is alive still!!!)

There is 4 sections of the next series of quests, which will lead you off the planet onto the next series of Legacy quests. They will get you to almost full level if you go through with them all.

Each quest has 4-6 sub quests, the final of those quests is so far a baddie you need to take down or accquire an item (ive done a few so far - its more the actual logic of the quests that takes me the longest.. but the engine still needs tweaking .. god.. so much to do…

Im considering recruiting quest designers. I figure theres so many starwars fans, if i present a Format thats clear and concise people might want to make some quests up - you can never have enough content in an morpg.

(pardon me stealing the term 'Legacy Quest' from other professional games, its just second nature to me now) Basically its just the line of quests that pertain to your profession and Race, rather than the quests that give you item rewards , XP and credits. The LQ's will give you the jedi/sith points, the Hutt points etc etc.. depending on what race or profession you are.
