  1. Hopefully I will die before I have to start registering my creative products >_>.

I know you're probably watching me from across the room, concentrating, contemplating on attacking me soon.

    All of you.
  2. @Devogen:

    > $400 is VERY cheap considering what it does. And considering my company had to shell out about $8000 for Maya, its pretty good in comparison.

    > Good Software doesnt cost $80-$100, it usually goes into the thousands, especially if you are looking at doing something commercially. There are alternative methods to accquiring these tools of course. I personally use the latter method, ie the one we dont talk about…  to trial, and sometimes have an _extended_ trial of a program to make sure its worth the money.

    > Trials that are limited in features do not deserve the time of day.

I used to have a friend get it for me, but, not anymore. It's not the same as getting it yourself, having the pyhsical copy. :)

    [/offtopic]?
  3. @Devogen:

    > yep, thats what bricks are, rectangular objects, or primitives what ever you want to call them - and as you know they are created with 1 click pretty much. Check out Zbrush too.

I wanted to make rubble like that too, but, yeah. Too much for my crappy PC >_>.

Also, as seeing as you gave me some constructive critism - my turn!

Post Apocolyptic. What comes to mind? For me, it's alot of broken down things, everything in ruins, dark, dank, abandoned, lifeless… This scene has a ray of sunshine and way too much light. I think it may be improved by some Adjust Levels in Photoshop, just to darken it down a little. :)

    > I just have to be brutally honest, as far as 3D goes.. thats horrible.

    > Don't get cut up and defensive, listen.
    > And please dont ask me to do something better, because between Lightwave and Maya.. I could in a matter of automatically generated scripts… and about 5 mins. Ive been 3D modelling for over 15 years, so im offering advice and not flame. You obviously have some tools, you just need to sharpen them.

    > 1\. This is meant to be a post-apocalyptic scene. The buildings should not be whole. You should have made clones of the buildings and used a particle generator or nurbs at least to give a ruptured or half destroyed building.

    > Why did it take you so long to add some simple filters? just curious.

I know I suck, but seeing as all I'v had to teach myself this stuff is a how-to-make-a-polygon £50 starter book (Wtf, right?), and the tutorials, I don't think I'm doing too bad for the short time i'v had it.

To be honest, I wanted to make this scene a whole lot better - but right now, I'm on some I-can't-run-Oblivion-level-graphics-lulz PC, so I can only render/run so much at once.

As for destroyed buildings, I did try to do that - but my lack of knowledge in textures wound up Z-fighting and unmatching… Whilst on textures, i'v been pulling them out of google at minimal 2000x#### sizes, but that link should come in handy - Thanks! :D.

As for the road going into the building... It's actually not. That's at the end of the street. o_o.

Fog covering stuff up... You got me there ;D. But, as I said, I can only have so much going on in this scene before I hit 1fps / crash.... I crashed a couple of times just making this scene.

Anywho, I'd rather stick to doing small scenes, like the candle-lit one, but I'm not the one asking for the production here. :)

    EDIT:

On another note, I'd like to see your version of this sort of scene - not out of spite, but because I would learn from the experience :]. Not often do I come across a 3D Modeller of 15 seasons... Except for that one guy at college... But he was an asshole :].

    EDIT #2:

Also, these graphics aren't meant to be compared to the 3D graphics market, it's to be compared to alot of the things that alot of people make. I'v seen games where people have used paint to self-mocking proportions - and to phase off retorts, I'v seen good graphics done with paint and other 2D programs, also. :D.
But, the point is, not too many people offer 3D graphics services for free like this - even if they aren't that good!

    > That's some nice work you got there. I could use help, i need an improvement on my background for the GUI, it's currently empty and needs more, maybe a better cloud and more darker and some radiation in the atmosphere, anything which reminds you of war and dark.. yes blood!
