    > Or you could just forget Wii, 360, and PS3 altogether, and get an Alienware Gaming PC. That thing is in a tier of it's own. The 3 pretty much do not compare to it.

I'm sorry, but I can't stand for this… if you want a gaming PC, build it yourself. It'll be cheaper, it'll be faster, and it won't come with a whole bunch of "filler" programs. Alienware has gone downhill in the past decade. You're paying way more for something that runs slower than a homebrew PC due to incompatible drivers, useless trash that comes pre-installed, and has a big alien head on the back/side. I'm sorry, but I've had nothing but trouble from Alienware and I can't stand it when people fork over money for brand products.

I built my computer from scratch, upgraded it constantly over the past 5 years, and it's running better than ever. My friends who bought Alienware had constant problems with the same hardware, due to Alienware drivers, bad manufacturing, etc, and had to get new computers long before they should have.

    Just my piece.

    > GCC is a great compiler, just like OpenGL is a great API, but Microsoft Windows doesn't work properly with either of them.

    > As a conclusion I'd say that you can go deal with your Dev-Cpp and MinGW set up, but don't bother other people with the flaws of everything in relation to that.

I'm sorry, but I don't agree. I haven't found any evidence that gcc or ogl don't work properly in windows.

Oh, and I belive Dev-Cpp uses gcc as it's default compiler (as far as I know).
  3. As he's said before, marsh never really planned on releasing E++. He primarily created it so that he could learn C++. If you ask him really nicely and he already knows you, he _might[\i] give you the source, but it's so early into development that it's not really worth it._
  4. To all those Canadians celebrating Thanksgiving, and I guess all others, may I be the first to say, I am thankful for turkey and gravy and stuffing and mashed potatoes and…

In short, happy fucking turkey day. Enjoy your turkey.

    > I always thought the appeal of a console was that you could just pick it up and play. You can't seem to do that any more. You need to install a game, download the patches, connect to some centralised server and all that jazz.
    >
    > I'd rather pick up an old mega drive and a copy of Sonic 2 and play that. ;D

Agreed. This is probably one of the biggest reasons I've stopped playing console games. That, and the fact that every time I get one, someone in my family takes it away. My parents have my wii, my sister had the Sega, my brother has the N64, my cousins "borrowed" our SNES, broke it, then pawned it off…

    > Also, you're saying Dragon Age and NwNs are/would be better on a console? That seems silly considering how they are done. Games with a task bar at the bottom for quick access to stuff are PC friendly by far. Also, I just think all RPG's are PC. FPS. RTS. MMORPG. You get the picture.

Oh no, definetly not. I'm thinking more of games like FF6 or Earthbound. Action RPGs, such as NwN or Diablo style RPGs are way better with mouse and keyboard, if not mandatory. The point is, consoles and PCs have different styles, different genres they're good at.

Actually, I'd have to agree. I really don't understand the appeal of console FPSs. Hell, that's one of the biggest reasons I never bothered with MW2; it was a port, not from PC to console as per usual, but from console to PC. The developer boasted that you'd be able to change the resolution on PC. Seriously, wtf?

The thing consoles do best are action-adventure, non-action adventure, and rpgs (imo). Leave the FPSs and RTSs to the PC.
  8. Wow… I was having this same dilemma last year. I'd have to go with the PS3\. Not only does it have free online and a blu-ray player (for those of you with TVs that can actually utilize blu-ray), but it has a lot of games I enjoy, including the Ratchet & Clank series and Little Big Planet. I've never really been a fan of the 360 (and definitely not a fan of its predecessor). I've found a lot of their "big hit" games to be rather average games, or better when played on PC.

Oh, and even though I solved the dilemma last year, I have no money and my gf found her ps2, so we haven't bought it.

    > That's them yellow-skinned freaks over in Japan, did you know they like women on their tentacles?  And they think Satan is evil.

    fix'd

but in all seriousness, some people don't get out enough. These guys… if they tried, they'd burn everything with... any amount of anything, declaring witchcraft and deamon-worship.
