  1. @DDuÐ˜à ¼t: > YES! THE USE OF DESIGN BOARD! > > /pat on the back Thanks, wish I could take the credit but, Design board was Addy's idea. :P @Tsukasa: > This is gonna be good, keep us updated. Will do mate. :P I'll be doing a bit more in a minute, just getting something to eat. :cheesy:
  2. Meh. Who knows, I still hope they add more. :P
  3. Yeah, I hope they do put some new ones in. :P < Just doesn't look right.
  4. I don't mind! As long as there are mooore! Loool.
  5. @Bob: > This looks good.. > Keep us updated. Will do Bob. :D Thanks for the interest. ;D
  6. Nout mate. We were talking about Robin's less than kind words at the beginning of your topic. I say you deserve a commendation for digging that tut out of the mirage forum's, apparently Robin thinks otherwise. Anyway! Thanks! Very helpful!
  7. @Insert: > Umm… I highly doubt your gonna get through with this... Me neither but, its worth a shot. xD
  8. @Insert: > Are you kidding? it's awesome. Your the first person to implement both modern AND past technology! When you get this working, your gonna inspire many more games like this. It'll be a new era to eclipse gaming. > God, i love the ideas people get these days…amazing... Though not intentional, I hope thats the case. Most of these guys are far better qualified than me, I shudder to think what these guys are capable of… There are alot of things I think you'll like about MotR judging from your level of interest and previous comment, you should keep your eye on this topic. I'll be adding 90% of my material over the next few days. Maybe some of my storyline over the next week or so, I've got none of it on my computer yet, its all in my Journal at the moment.
  9. You heard me! More emotes! Bring ooooon the emotes! :cheesy:
  10. @Insert: > NO WAY dont give up that's EPIC. > I'd love to play this. Can't WAIT. =D I can't wait to make it, of course you'll be welcome to play it. ;) I'll keep updating. I already updated the Function list and started to expand on it, I'll continue. I wasn't expecting any genuine interest. :P
  11. @[G2D: > УV☼ link=topic=45889.msg467738#msg467738 date=1244534277] > This tutorial does work (not fantastically) but it works. There are many ways to achieve 8 way directional movement… and really even the novice programmer could figure it out - for it happens to be one of the first thing anyone does when making a game (character movement) > > X = X + 1 > > Oh.. I want to go ummm diagonal upper left.. > > X = X -1 > Y= Y - 1 > > The principle is basic, and has been around for longer than most of these guys have been alive... so regardless of whether someone posted a link to another engines capability or modification - its merely another recipe thats worked off another old recipe, well before Mirages days. I really dont get the big deal about it all TBH... my Sega Master System could achieve 8 way scrolling (and that was in 1986).. why > would it be any different now? > > As far as a post count thing... > > "Stop +1ing yourself by posting links to other forums" > > I agree with half the statement and not the other half. I hate spam posters, but I dont see what that has to do with this as its a link for the tutorial and clearly not a spam post just to +1 his count. Seems more like Robin +1ing himself by running his mouth in the first place, this entire argument is based on hypocrisy…
  12. @[G2D: > УV☼ link=topic=45889.msg467735#msg467735 date=1244533375] > no presumptions there… considering Eclipse code was Mirage, and yes it was a source of Aid for a long time (and still is to some point) > > Anyone who has seriously looked into these engines knows the deal, and really... its all the same poo with a different odour. Not sure Pope was wrong in thinking this Tutorial would still work then… And I'm not sure theres an need for the "Stop +1ing yourself by posting links to other forums" is necessary.
  13. @[G2D: > УV☼ link=topic=45889.msg467733#msg467733 date=1244532958] > Yes, im afraid you are right it most likely wont end peacefully, but I tried to state my case as calmly and factual as I could, I wont personally be following the thread anymore. > > I do agree, I think it's dissapointing that an uproar can occur simply from someone submitting > a link to some programming tips that others may find useful. > > Isn't that what we're all here for anyway? Exactly, I agree with everything you've said, even the fashion in which you've said it… What I don't understand is... @Robin: > This isn't a tutorial for Eclipse at all. > > Don't improve your post count by linking to another forum. > > Port the tutorial, give proper credits to Tony, and actually do some work. Wheres the need in that? I mean… Tell me if I'm wrong in presuming this... But, wasn't mirage a large source of AID for eclipse at one point? Its totally worth the warning: Robin, your being an ASS.
  14. @[G2D: > УV☼ link=topic=45889.msg467728#msg467728 date=1244532595] > It must be hard for people to not bring up personal issues when you present such a negative tone > and feel in almost every single one of your posts Robin. There is being good at what you do and letting the results speak for themselves and the reputation preceeding. Then - there is just being arrogant, or at least appearing arrogant. > > Now.. I'm not saying you're arrogant but there seems to be a consistent pattern to your posts - and now I learn you are some part of Eclipses development team, it's worrying to see someone of your position acting with little care for Eclipse or its users . > > Feel free to continue this debate in a PM. Not to mention all this started off with one guy, with nothing to gain by doing so, trying to help the population of Eclipse by submitting what he THOUGHT was a tutorial for 8 Directional Movement. Am I alone in thinking no matter what this won't end peacefully?
  15. Guys your off topicing. *hide behind something*
  16. And I mean contact me with rates of pay. xD Bear in mind, I need 8 Directional (Prefferably Dynamic) Sprites.
  17. @Insert: > I thought i was reading a book from a pro author. Wow, NICE. This is the most EPIC and ORIGINAL idea since isometric/sidescrolling games! I appreciate that. Thanks for he input, I was this close to give it up as a hopeless lost cause! Renewed motivation!
  18. @Insert: > EPIC but you know what i think? NO DOUBLE POSTING =D > Edit your original post > i like the idea of falling a sleep and waking up in the new world. But how will you get back? OH NO > and what happens if you… > HAVE A NIGHTMARE? I meant to add that on the end, sorry. And Thanks. You'll be able to get back to Reality in a similar fashion, find a bed, a fire or building. Completing certain parts of the Story will also send you back to Reality. And you just unwittingly stumbled into a major part of the Storyline. "At first the Realm was nothing more than a way of coping with the hustle and bustle of day to day life, and for a while it worked perfectly, I took it and molded it into my own personal Haven. Eventually however, as everything always does, things took a turn for the worse…" Just a small sample of the Intro.
  19. @symphonia117: > From the screenies the HM posted (and from what was previously mentioned) the iso format isn't "complete" as in its not all rendered in iso. Also having an iso game would require a different variation of tiles and sprites as well as possible diagonal movement support. > basically iso=a lot of work > 2d=win Fake Iso, yeah. And I did just say it only renders floor tiles. Oh, and FYI: Solar Eclipse has 8 Directional Movement now. Iso = Rewarding.
  20. I'll obviously be adding more to this, a bit later on. It's like 7am and I've had about half an hour sleep. Let me know what you think!
  21. Basically, reading the WIP rules, I don't have enough information to start an official WIP yet, Addy told me it would be fine to start compiling information for our WIP here, so here we go. **What I'm doing right now.** Updating PRE-WIP, Working on Storyline, Pixels & Recruiting, as ever.. _1:18Pm GMT, Thursday 3rd September 09\._ **Positions we are currently trying to fill.** 2d AND/OR Isometric Pixel artist - Spriter and Tile artist. We also need Paper doll and GUI artists. Note: We'll be using 8 Directional Movement & an Expanded Paper Doll. Please. PLEASE. Bear this in mind before applying for the Job. The Team. We actually now have a few Artists: A couple anonymous Artists, Sparrow and Gabe our Lead Spriter's and Paperdoll Artists, Alex their Assistant, Environmental, Touch Up & Paperdoll Artist… Myself in Pixel Training and doing a little light Pixel work and creating the most ellaborate and complex storyline known to man... Only joking, but, it does get pretty intense. It'll be open-ended, so pretty much ongoing... Scores of stories all knotted up. Some dead ends, some rewards... Treasure hunts, Myths and legends... Even a few crusades... Oh, and we also have Jono, Artist & Web Designer... And Yonder our Web Designer and General Techie. Sh3li as mention below, though we do actually need another GUI Artist, she think's might know some really talented people that might be interested in the role. We also managed to nab Lam3r as an Editor. W00t! [Our GFX Topic.](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,49345.0.html) Currently trying to talk Sh3li into doing our Gui's, very promising stuff. [Some of her work. VERY promising stuff.](http://www.youtube.com/user/monkeyplushie) Very latest activity. ![](http://i29.tinypic.com/2h7i8f9.png) Well's be trying to create the perfect common ground between these sprites. The above sprites I got this morning from one of our Head Spriters. I've recently started to work on MotR's artwork myself, though I'm still looking for some more people to fill the spot on a more.. Permanent Basis? Or a maybe a Mentor/Consult that can offer advice and wisdom? For a rough idea of what we all looking for click the link below. http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,45241.0.html Note: We haven't actually STARTED development, as we're holding off for Solar Eclipse release. **Features.** This is where The Magic of the Realm really stands out. Player Trading, Player Shops, Player Profiles, Broadcast Box, Market Place & a Jail, for the naughty ones. Potions… Jump, Sprint, Dual Wield & Split CTRL keys. Friend list, Enemy list, Merchant list & a nifty Note keeping system for the Friend/Enemy/Merchant list's. A pleasing mixture of 2d & Isometric Tiles will go beautifully with the 8 Directional Movement system we have planned. An Expanded Paper Doll system, An All-In-One Class system & a unique Plantation system. Life side & Realm side, 2 inter-changeable existences. Multiple Races, Multi-Headed Story line and even a Multi-Grade Item system. Factions & Clans. PvP Wars, Clan Wars & Faction Wars. Resurrection & Jobs. 3 Pets per player & Rides. Weapon-smithing, Armour-smithing & Jewel-smithing. Mining, Fishing, Woodcutting, Farming, Cooking, Breeding & even Building! **Story.** This my chosen area of expertise, I've got very big thing's in mind for the Story. I can't divulge to much, a lot of secrecy… "At first the Realm was nothing more than a way of coping with the hustle and bustle of day to day life, and for a while it worked perfectly, I took it and molded it into my own personal Haven. Eventually however, as everything always does, things took a turn for the worse..." Just a small sample of the Intro. A little teaser. And that only JUST touches the tip of the iceberg. The following words should blow your mind. **Multi-Headed Storyline.** Meaning a storyline for each of the 9 Races we intend to use. Note: We DID add further Races at a later date. **Races we intend to use, and Factions they belong to.** **The Resistance. Hume, Elf & Dwarf.** Available at Birth. **The Divine. Enlightens into: Angelic Hume, Angelic Elf or Angelic Dwarf.** At 3rd Enlightenment. (300.) Depending on your initial choice. **The Renegades. Outlaw, Druid & Goblin.** Available at Birth. **The Divine. Enlightens into: Demonic Outlaw, Demonic Druid or Demonic Goblin.** At 3rd Enlightenment. (300.) Depending again, on your initial choice. There will also be an extra Mystery Race (Or two.) available after you have 1 Angelic and 1 Demonic character. Each account will be allocated 3 slots, 1 Resistance, 1 Renegade and a slot for this mystery character. Meaning the player will see the story from 3 sides of the story. Each storyline will tie into each other in subtle ways, and also into a much bigger storyline. **Functions - Explained. **Eggs** ~ Pets start out as eggs. **Multiple Pets** ~ 3 pets at one time. Covering Reality AND the Realm. Being able to change between the two at will, by going to sleep in your room. **Game play.**[/u[ _Obviously_ Myth & Magic. I'll add to this as and when I can.**
  22. Yeah, 3.0 comes complete with a 2d Isometric rendering tool but, it only works on floor tiles from what I hear. So, you'd still have to make objects, sprites and/or buildings Isometric yourself. All in all both are good, 2d is easy, easy to pixel, easy to map, altogether easy… Isometric adds an extra challenge, putting another Axis on your art, making designing and mapping a little more challenging. Personally I prefer the effects Isometric has on a game but, I'm not slagging down 2d, 2d is good too.
  23. It is? Oh Pwnt… Any information other than that?
  24. By this, I mean is it possible to seperate the Ctrl keys, Left Ctrl = Left attack & Right CTRL = Right attack. A really technical issue, I know, as both Ctrl's register as the same button…
