Im going to start off by saying yes I am newer here but im not new to using this program. I am also not new to prot forwarding and how annoying a router can be wehn using this program. I struggled with a Linksys wireless G router (The one with the USB) for a long time. Reading all the guides and doing them step by step exactly and still failing almost killed me. But then I discovered my problem (This will only work for you if you have the similar setup I had). Now I will share my problems in hope to help someone else. **This will only work for internet setups matching the one described in step 1!** Step 1\. First find out if this guide is for you. The setup I had was that I had a router (wireless or ethernet either one) connected to my dads computer. My dads computer then connected to the internet. So basically my computer to his, then his to the internet. Step 2\. Realising the problem. You do infact have to open the ports for your game to bypass your router/firewall. BUT you need to open more than just 4000 on your computer. Many of you may be confued by this but you need to go onto your primary computer (Dads computer or the one your router connects to) and open the same port "4000" on the modems homepage. Confused yet? Put it this way, your router needs to send messages to the modem to connect to the internet right? Well, if you open ports on your computer the firewall on your modem will just block the ports you just opened. REMEBER that for this to work you need to have the same internet setup as im describing in step 1! Step 3\. Fixing it! To access your routers main page you need to goto(on Windows XP) "Start" , "All Programs" , "Accessories" , "Command Prompt". Once the command prompt opens type in "ipconfig" with no spaces. Then a couple of IP adresses will appear. Now write down the default gateway. Close command prompt and open up your internet browser. Now type in the default gateway into the adress bar (Do not put "www." or ".com") Then enter in the correct username and password corresponding with your router. You should be able to find this in the main port forwarding guide. Now open the port 4000 just like the port forwarding guide says to. Now go onto the main computer and do the same. You should also check if the internet settings on the modems computer doesnt have a firewall blocking the games access to the internet. If you do all of this correctly the IP adress you recieve from whatismyip.com will work like a charm. Note: If your Computer has both the router and modem connected to it. This guide is not for you. The port forwarding guide should work just fine. I hope this helps those who are getting down about using Eclipse just because of a little confusion. See yah, ~BledDry
