Sorry to be a pain again, bit any chance I could get those planet tilesets, and the ones with the space stations(if it was on a different one) Thanks in advance either way
  2. As I pass time until one of two engine releases, I will script for someone, to keep my skills non-rusty. Requirments are -A game in serious development -preferrably a decent game, good mapping, non-cliche storyline -must have a clear idea of what they want out of these scripts -a server up as much as possible. I never knoew when I' free, so I want to be able to have the time to do it when I'm on, not a sporadic server -hopefully some concept of whats impossible to script, so I'm not asked to do things that arent scriptable. Will do one script at a time for whatever game is next in que in this post. Must include links to WIP so I can see your game and decide if its worth the time. I may stop at any time, probably when next EE or other is out. Also post the script you want here so I can tell you ahead of time if its within my capabilities or not(I consider myself pretty good, but not uber pro)
  3. make a non fantasy game!!!!!!! I even have my old Apocalypse RTS zipped that I'll give to anyone with the balls to continue or create their own RTS(script heavy so you'd need to be a taleented scriptor) Anything non fantasy. Fantasy makes my eyes bleed..
  4. Since this just became an issue, I'd like to hear peoples opinions and make my own. First of all, premade resources on the net are GENERALLY made so others could make a game without gfx skills. Its a fact that most people cant do any custom gfx, and a large part of those who do are terrible at it. Making custom GFX is no easy task, and most people arent going to make anything playable with customs that they can make. An argument I heard was "games with premade gfx are knockoffs of other games) Not true. GFX doesnt make the game. Gameplay, content, storyline make the game. I se enothing wrong with premade GFX personally. Yes, it would be nice if everyone had that kind of talent, but few do, and I fail to see the problem with people using resources posted SPECIFICALLY FOR OTHERS TO USE. GFX(non ones ripped from other games) are posted openly around the internet for the sole purpose of being used in game maker programs to help along development for the masses who arent talented sprites(a dying breed for the most part) VC, RBO, Pokemon Cyrus, to name the current active ones from here alone, are composed of premade, and they are all succesful games(VC that died withstanding) based on premade content. Wich only stands to prove my point that gameplay and design detirmine a game over "commanly seen" gfx. On the flip side, to those who look down on people who use premade, your basically saying that most of us shouldnt be making games? Awfully absurd, I say. I've yet to see more then 2 or 3 examples of custom GFX. And Custom GFX still wont help a recycled, bland, or poorly implemented project from being any better then it is. Premade GFX is no different from using an engine, because most people cant code their own engine either. Its an "assistance" for the SOLE PURPOSE of allowing others to bypass some of the more difficult steps at game creation.

    EE 2.5

It sure will be nice once this engine gets released by the truly community oriented developers. Is there a % posted anywhere?
  6. Since everyone almost always chooses the fantasy Genre, I want to know peoples opinion on Fantasy VS other Genre's, why they chose fantasy, and what others they might like to develop in.
  7. So arcade and so bull$hit. I cant wait to buy the newest 2K. Heres why. I was just playing my buddy a round of Madden 07 on my 360. He's not by any means a bad player, and we are pretty much split in our versus record. He almost always plays the Titans, and I always play the jaguars. In the game we just played, I ran for 615 YARDS. lmao! wtf¿ It was just ridiculous. I could be surrounded by like 6 of his guys, and would start spamming the spin button, and make EVERYONE miss me. It was the funniest shit ever, omg.. You had to have been there to see it. We were both cracking up. On top of that, he leans towards the pass(i prefer runs) and he's a great passer, but this game I intercepted him 12 times. Over and over, it was unbeleivable. I just so pwned him, it wasnt even funny. I hate madden

  15. Maybe this will help at least one poor noob from making some mistakes. I dont know if they bother looking here for guidance, but if so, list here things that kill potential projects. NAME-To many projects use the name "online". It sounds tacky, players know its online, and it takes away from the immersion of your game world. EARLY BETA OR TEST OR FULL RELEASE-I see SO many people release beta's, or completely openh alpha's, and even FULL RELEASE'S, when they are clearly not ready. Here are my tips. Alpha release-Dont. Ever. Dont even think about it. If you think about it, slam your fingers in a door. Alpha release is reserved for the commercial games who have the money and teams and expertise to make something worth an alpha release. No eclipse game should ever have an Alpha release. An Eclipse alpha release is someone who is just to eager to get people t play their game regardless of its state. Beta Release-Your not ready. Probably not, anyways. Beta release's should me mostly playable games, for testing of the game world, scripts, ect. You should have at LEAST the entire game complete up to mid to high mid level range, all items, all spells, all area's, all skills, ect, everything ready up to a decent level, that players can actually test up to. I see so many beta's released with barley a handful of items, few to no skills or a few skills with 1 or two items/levels achievable, few maps or not enough mapping practice, ect. Dotn release a beta unless you have a fleshed out game that is truly ready for real player testing. Dont release just because you want to show off or are overeager to get people on your game. First it gives a bad first impression when they get on and the game is nowhere near done, secondly you get sidetracked showing off and chatting up players and lose sight of your goal, full release. STORY-You must have a well thought out, original story(some fan based games are excluded, mainly only zelda) If you dont have a world created for a player, they will get bored, and never feel anything more then they are playing a game, and this doesnt generate long term players. By world I dont mean a bunch of maps, I mean a story, history, events, ect. I could go on. Someone else continue

  17. Looking for - A lead position, something along the lines of General developer(preferrable something giving me work in many areas of a game) Skills - Talented mapper, moderate scripter, creative designer, minor sprite and tile editing, paperdolling Experience - Jashea-Pathwars(current backseat project) MegaNanolith(non combat mmo) StarJumper/Apacalypse Sunrise(RTS mmo) "Jashea is current project, however its kind of backseat, interest in it seems to have dies, but I will continue slow paced work on it. Other projects were all in development, and for a mixture of personal-technical reasons they didnt make it, but were coming along well and generated enthusiasnm in the community) Looking For - A Well thought out project, with a good, non cliche storyline. A project that plans of having lots of content, not a simple hack and slash. Must already have significant of time put into it, quality maps, decent sized world, advanced creative planning. Will not work for-Any project with sub-standard maps, I WILL not remap your project for you. Will not work for any project with a cliche-lazy-poor storyline. Will not work for any project that only has a handfull of maps. Will not work for any project that has no planned features outside of "fishing" blah blah.. Owner of the project must be very dedicated, have their project well thought out, and planning on adding much content, for a full, rich game. Server MUST be up at least 75% of any given week, at bare minimum. Please dotn waste my time if your game does not meet my standards. Very picky, I know, but those are my requirments.
  18. I'm making this thread because of the large amount of poor games I've tested. 1-Plan your game! Before you start making a game, plan it out. Get a storyline together, a general idea of the theme of your world, ect. If you start making a game before your idea is even finished, your game is doomed. 2-Guide new players! I've played MANY MANY beta test phase games that the game starts you at some single camp or tent or just the middle of nowhere, with no idea where to go at all. Start players in a town, or somewhere with enough sotry given so they know what to do, aka "in a sewer cause they just escaped from jail" Anything. DO NOT under ANY circumstances just throw players into the middle of nowhere with no reason whatsoever. If players start a game and have no clue where they are or what the hell they are supposed to do, none of them will stick around. Another game-killer 3-BALANCE YOUR AREAS-So many noob games are released with absolutly no organization to the game world. Games where you can go only 1 or 2 maps away and already are encountering uber hard enemies, or even worse, you start out and cant kill ANYTHING around you. Balance your area's according to level, getting progressivly harder as players get farther, dont have uber enemies right near start just because you think its cool. Your game will go nowhere, again. 4-CONTENT-Players need things to do besides kill things. Quests, mini games, skills, exploration. Players are going to get bored unless they have options, and your game will be forgotten in no time. 5-DONT MIX TILE STYLES-With a couple of exceptions, dont mix tiles. I recently played a game where 4 different maps in the beginning all connected to eachother all used different styles. One zelda, one rmxp, one 16bit, another unidentified. It looked bad. Find a style, and stick with it. Mixing tilesets CAN be done, but only if they can be mixed in a complimentary matter, as in only if they look similar enough or fit well enough together not to stick out like a sore thumb. 6-DONT RELEASE A BETA TEST! Because your not ready. You cant have 10 maps, 3 enemies, and 2 items and release a beta. People will get a terrible first impression of your game, and it will be avoided because of the bad feedback. For a beta test, I reccomend at LEAST 50-75 maps, items, monsters, spells, and area's done up to a early mid to mid range level. Beta is about testing balancing, scripts, mapping issues, ect, not just showing off. So have something worthwhile for them to test. Dont release a beta soley because you want people on your game. 7-LEARN TO SCRIPT! It REALLY ISNT THAT HARD if your willing to put fort the effort. Start small, and you'll see how easy it is to get better. The majority of the commands are all self explanitory. If you have half a brain you should be able to figure it out. Read your main.txt, and see how the commands are used. Read tutorials. Look at other peoples scripts to see what they did. Ask questions. Dont ask "can someone do this for me" ask "How can I do this?" Then write your first script, which will probably suck. Post it and ask for help, and people will show you how to make it work. Learn from what they showed you. Get better. Learning is an amazing thing isnt it! There is probably alot more, but someone else can continue. Making a game is alot of work and dedication, and actually having the pride and the ambition to make a quality game. You need to learn the engine before you make a game, dont start AS SOON as you download it. Tinker with it for a week and learn how everything works. If you dont learn the engine first, you will fail, as so many have done before. DEDICATION IS IMPORTANT!

    RTE 480

RTE 480 Cant recreate auto redraw image Or something like that. It JUST started happening to me, and its associated with my INV somehow. My one char with paperdolled EQ on wont let me log in, so I made a new guy in another slot. He works fine, until I try to go to my invetory. Going to try and delete my account folder and make a new account, but I find it odd that this suddenly starts happening for no reason. Might be something to look into. ok, just tried making a new account. Deleted old account completely, and made new. I opened up my empty invetory just fine, but with my invetory open, as soon as I try to pick up an item I get the error again. Whats up devs?
