  1. This is a problem I'm having with the latest EE 2.2\. I'm trying to convert my old TE maps into EE maps in order to utilize the new engine. All the tiles and sprites are correctly placed in my EE folder. I copied and pasted the TE maps, replacing the EE sets, a tactic which worked fine with EE Gamma. However, in-game, the maps came out corrupted. So, I tried using the map converter provided in the General Discussion Board. It did not work. Here's what EE is doing to the maps: ![](http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/3429/eeproblemdb3.png) This is what it looks like in TE: ![](http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/6746/temv3.png) I have to say that I'm hoping this is a mistake on my end. I'm a little disheartened that such a basic problem posed no problems in EE Gamma but is suddenly rearing its head in the newest version of EE.
  2. Hey guys, I'm finally testing out the Eclipse Evolution Gamma version after months of holding back from giving EE a go. I managed to convert the few hundred scrolling TE maps I had created for my project (Super Mario's World) as well as set everything up so that it uses all the sprites/tiles that my TE version did. Here are my impressions and the problems I've run into so far after about ten minutes of testing: _**The PROS**_ 1\. SPRINT/ENERGY BAR - THANK YOU ECLIPSE DEVS! 2\. No problems with map conversions so far. My post on the "Map Converter" topic was thus unnecessary. I didn't actually use the map converter; I just copied and pasted the TE maps into the EE directory and made sure all the tilesheets were as they should be in the EE folders. 3\. Everything seems much more crisp now. Great visuals. My sharp Luigi sprite thanks you. 4\. On maps with few animations, and with only one person (haven't tested with multiple people yet), the game runs much smoother than TE did. _**The CONS**_ 1\. Only one so far, I'll update with more as they come: On maps with a lot of animation, EE LAGS like TE NEVER did. This happens on, for example, a map with water, like on the coast, where all the flowing water animation completely chokes the game up so that you can move at less than half the speed you could before. This never happened to me on TE, and I imagine with people the situation would be even worse. Furthermore, the animations become completely unsmooth. This is something that, I hope, the developers will patch up before the final version releases, because so far it's the only problem I've had with the engine, but it's a major problem. For example, on one map, where you're on a harbor that extends out to sea, the water animation chops like crazy and you can barely move. On TE things ran just fine. _**The QUESTIONS**_ 1\. Was the music bug fixed? (The one where players could not hear the game's music despite having everything in the correct folder and SW Synth turned all the way up.) 2\. Was the paperdoll glitch fixed? (The one where it would show you with an item that you don't have if someone else on the same map was using that item.) 3\. Is there a way to fix the animation lag that I'm just not aware of? I've spent probably less than ten minutes testing this engine so far…. _**First Conclusion:**_ AMAZING work so far EE devs., and animation glitch or not it's clear to me that Super Mario's World WILL be using Eclipse Evolution for its first release. I'll update with further impressions if I get any.
  3. Hey guys, I'm still working on TE as I've been reluctant to switch over to any of the EE-based engines yet. Here are what I'm wondering will be in the final version of EE that will be made: 1\. Working, stable TE to EE map converter. This would be an absolute must for my game, which already has about 200 or so scrolling maps completed (most of which are fairly detailed). I see a topic below that states that the converters right now don't work, so I'm hoping this will be ready for the final. 2\. More movements for the sprites: this one is off-the-wall, but it still disturbs me that there's no standing animation for the sprites. The range of movement is rather limited and you either have only one arm/leg move and a standing position or you don't have a standing position (which looks odd). I know this is scriptable unofficially, but it would be good to have the option in the engine to switch so that, at the end of the current sprite sheets, the added four animations (one for up, down, right, and left) can be added for the extra walking animation (most of the sprites have a standing + walking animation, so this would be for the other walking animation not already in use), a change that would also affect the Paper Doll system (which would have to incorporate the change). Or maybe two versions of EE can be released, one with this and one using the original style of animations? In my case, the current character sprite sheet is not used (I use my own), so it wouldn't matter to dispose of it if it required.
  4. Here's the thing. If you look carefully at the range of motion allowed by the 12 sprites for motion, you'll notice that a crucial portion of the walking left or right animation is left out. Essentially a character will swing his arm and leg once and then return to the standing position, repeat. The other arm/leg never goes into the same motion. Now it's mostly not noticeable except to the discerning eye, but still it takes away from the fluidity of the animation. It happens with up and down too, but it's not as noticeable because usually up and down have the walking animations but not the standing animation. Let me show you an example of what I mean. Here we have a picture of Mario's sprites. Take a look at the walking animation. ![](http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/2176/walkingspriteno2.jpg) I understand that changing it to allow more walking animations will make most of the sprites in the game useless. However, for those of us using sprites not in the standard Eclipse sets, it would be a really good way to improve the game's motion aesthetics. If possible, maybe having a server-side choice as to how many animation tiles you want to use, whether the old method or a new, more complete one. It's really a minor issue, but if you're going for perfect then that's what would work best.
  5. As the question reads, you couldn't do so in Total Eclipse as far as I knew. Is it possible in Eclipse Evolution?
  6. A problem that someone has had trying to enter the game server is that he receives the loading sign while the game itself never loads. No RTE is given. He does have the library files installed and I do believe he can use Total Eclipse when he's running it on his computer, but my game never loads for him. I imagine it's a similar problem as to when the server crashes with RTE 9 (or other) and people on the server still see it online but can never join, getting the never-ending loading message. This seems to be the problem, except my server is running just fine and in fact others are constantly on it working. Is there a way to fix this issue with him, or rather, does anybody know what's going on? EDIT It is the "Sending Login Information" message that stays forever.
  7. How to do the above? I've just downloaded Eclipse Evolution and would like to convert my current TE game into an EE game and test it for compatibility to decide which I prefer. I'm very short on time so sorry if this has been covered (and yes I know there is a search feature), but if someone could tell me how or give me a link as to how to do so I'd be most obliged. Also, how do you check your PMs in this new forums?
  8. Well, here's the deal. For some reason some people can't hear the in-game music from .mid tracks I added in to the files. Some can, some can't. Those that can't have the option turned on to hear music, SW Synth in the Volume control is not muted and is on, and furthermore, the .mid songs are in the Client folder where they should be and work just fine when listening in Windows Media Player. So why is it that those people can't actually hear the music in-game while others can? Is there a fix? I've had this problem since day one and nothing I've been told before on the old forums worked. Any suggestions? This is Total Eclipse by the way.
  9. Well, I know a beta was released, but has a final 1.0 version of Eclipse Evolution been released? Or is it still considered in the beta phase? I'm still working on Total Eclipse but am unsure if I should transfer my work over to the Eclipse Evolution engine now or if I should wait until things are a little more stable.
  10. How much data does a general Eclipse game transfer at any one point in time? I need to know so I can estimate what type of internet connection I will need for version 1.0 of my game (standard DSL line won't seem to cut it).
  11. I've tried editing the News.ini file in the Server file, but it never changes the news on the starting page of the client. It still says: "Insert News Here" Am I doing something wrong? How do I get to work the news?
  12. As of late my server has been getting a ton of Run Time Error 9 errors. I know this is on the sticky topic: "=Run-Time Error 9- Script Out of Range This is a nuisance bug. Sometimes it occurs but is not consistently repeatable. Usually, it goes away if you just re-open the client and try to connect again. Sometimes it takes several tries. The cause of this is unknown." But that describes the client problem. What about the server? I don't like having my server shut down so often; is there a fix for this?
  13. ![](http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/8287/mainmenu7nc.gif) ![](http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/337/game3gx.gif) Yeah, here's a few GUIs I made. They're my first, and I'm not quite satisfied with the in-game GUI (just doesn't feel right; maybe it's because that was my first one). The intro GUI I like though. Feedback?
  14. The GUI stuff that comes with Total Eclipse are impossible to edit due to their mix of orangy colors. Can't "Paste From" onto a new version easily. Furthermore, the GUI Outline link on the main Touch of Death Productions site is dead.
