  1. @Richy:

    > I challenge someone to show me a great feature they've built in sadscript, without the use of a single line of coding in VB6.

    I would point to my leveling spells system or my turn-based battle system, but…

    The leveling spells system needed a source edit because of a bug in EE's GetPlayerMP(), et al. since they were not giving back the correct results.
    The turn-based battle system needed a source edit to fix a bug in the custom menus, iirc.
  2. When loading the page, I saw some images loading from the bottom-up instead of the top-to-bottom.  Leads me to believe you may be using .bmp images; I'd recommend .png or something instead, that could kill slower connections.
  3. @DrNova:

    > In reply to a comment **Admiral** made, Sadscript and VB are actually significantly different. True, there are alot of similarities in overall look, however implementation is very much different, doing one thing in Code requires several additions here and there, Sadscript you could write out your code in the main.ini and the engine did the bulk of the work. At the worst you may have had to manually do some .ini work, but that was simple.

    Nova, I agree that VB6 requires "a little extra" depending on what you have to do.
    However, if all you'd want to do, is script, you can still do that, you'll just have to give your variables a type instead of just putting "Dim."
    I don't have the code on me at the moment, but I ported my old EE scripts for Rock, Paper, Scissors, to EO, and it was almost copy and paste, except for making sure I capitalized and added variable types.

    Yes, I had to follow the tutorial on how to add in a "scripted" tile, "scripted" NPC, etc., but after that, it was pretty much the exact same thing – throwing my functions in a select case for that NPC.  Only difference, was that I had to put it in the source code with VB, instead of a .txt file in VBS.

    On a side note...  I'm pretty sure someone has the old Sadscript tutorial for Mirage -- it's pretty simple to put in, from what I remember, and with some basic intuitive programming ability (that is... common sense) it shouldn't be difficult to add in a scripting systems to origins.

    > Also when I took this test with a group, no one actually believed that it was the right score. The first thing the proctor asked was if I had ADD... :D

    Yeah, I took this in Psychology, my first year of college; just re-took the test, scored the same.
  5. Vbscript and VB really aren't all that different, especially since you have access to the same sadscript functions in the Eclipse source (GetPlayerHP, etc).

    What I would actually use when I was screwing around with Origins, I'm not sure if it's there anymore, but there were some nice source edits that allowed a sort of "scripted tile," "scripted item," "scripted NPC" etc.
    [Here is one such example](http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,63458.0.html) – my old Rock, Paper, Scissors game was almost entirely scripted, but porting it over to Origins was pretty simple; even the GUI.

  6. So I have a fake tophat, which I got so I can get an idea how I would look in a real top hat (they cost like,
    $200-$400); took this while skyping:
    ![](http://www.freemmorpgmaker.com/files/imagehost/pics/cc034db5407de015a483aaabb20e9c23.jpg)
    This was the general response:

    >! > Robin says:
    > *that is scary as fuck
    > *you look like the guys from Clockwork Orange
    > I say:
    > *I actually had to google this movie.

    > *that hat is fucking terrifying
    > *add a monocle and a stick and you'll be the splitting image

    I actually already ordered the monocle.

    > Alright guys i need help with my math homework my teacher gave me today…
    >
    > 2+2?

    Assume a and b are non-zeros.
    a = b
    Multiply through a:
    a2 = ab
    Subtract b2:
    a2 - b2 = ab - b2
    Factor:
    (a - b)(a + b) = b(a - b)
    Divide out (a - b):
    a + b = b
    Assuming a = b:
    b + b = b
    Combine like terms:
    2b = b
    Divide:
    2 = 1.
    Therefore,
    **2 + 2 = 2.**

He seems to understand that We're the cause of all our own problems, lol. Nobody else wants to fix anything, because the current structure leaves them in power. Ron Paul is a magnificent candidate.

    You may be referring to this speech, he gave it before the House of Representatives in 2009, it's very moving:

    > I'm intruiged.

  9. @Zonova:

    > I was really liking Ron Paul, but some of my friends at school find him to be really odd. What's he really about? I heard he had some weird policies about education or something

    Hi Zonova.
    I don't think it's odd to want to stop policing the world and force the government to be responsible with their money.  I'm not sure if you could get your friends to sit through a copy of For Liberty (or the re-cut), but if you have a chance to watch it, you'll pretty much understand everything about Ron Paul; I think I link to it in the OP.

    Anyways, as for education, he wants to limit the Federal Government and give the power back to the local governments, just like how it was designed to be under The Constitution.  Just ask any public school teacher how they feel about "No Child Left Behind" and similar federal mandates enacted under Bush.  Could also ask if they like fighting for federal funding & focusing on test scores, trying to apply a "one-size fits all" federal plan for everyone.

    Personally, I think just about everything the Federal Government touches usually crashes and burns.  D.C. is a prime example; it's the only city that's completely under Federal Jurisdiction, yet has some of the highest crime rates, and from my experience when I was there last Saturday, the infrastructure of the city in general sucks.

    As for how he wants to eliminate the Federal Income Tax, that goes along with eliminating the Federal Reserve.  That is, the same day the Federal Reserve was created, the IRS was created – and the only thing the Income Tax is for, is for paying interest on the Federal Reserve Bank Notes; without the Income Tax, our government would be no richer or poorer....

    You used to actually be able to opt out of the Income Tax by demanding _lawful money_ at your bank, and cashing your checks to [United States Notes](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Note) instead of [Federal Reserve Notes](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Reserve_Note).

    Once you really start looking into the Federal Reserve Bank, and how this private corporation works, you'll realize that it's a pretty scary thing and nothing good for this country.  To quote one of our founding fathers on central banks:
    _"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."_
    ~Thomas Jefferson

    Also, if you have some time, there's a pretty comical film that explains how the Federal Reserve and American Banking System works (the CC may be on automatically, so you might have to turn that off) – Mature Audiences Only!

    Stephan showed this to me awhile ago, I showed plenty more of my friends, it's pretty interesting.

    Technically our brains are 99.999% vacuum, right down to each level of a particles existence.  Take this vacuum away, and our brains become a condensed singularity that is so small it couldn't even be seen by a microscope.

    ...also, correct me if I am wrong, but can’t possessive form apply to cities or countries as well as people?

    That's just the thing, he's not only all talk. The man has been in politics for over 30 years, and has NEVER flipped on an issue, and his voting record proves that he walks the walk – I can't think of another single person that has ever done that; he's been literally saying the same thing for the past 30 years, he was one of the only ones to predict this housing bubble and the outcome of Iraq, he even predicted 9/11 as a result from our foreign policy, he has voted against the bailout and was the only republican to condemn Bush for this big war and big spending.  He's been fighting for the Constitution and freedom for 30 years, against The Establishment, the Military Industrial Complex (his own words), and Corporatism.

    And technically he's a Libertarian (third party) running under the Republican ticket, since it's impossible in this day and age to have a chance if you run under Third Party.

    Personally, unless we change the mindset of this country, things will never change.  We need more people in politics like Ron Paul, Napolitano, Johnson, to get back to how the US was designed to be -- based on personal liberty, and not corporate greed and perpetual war.  Not because a single man can do it, but because to change this country, you have to change the mindset of this country.  People like Ron Paul have already done that with the R[LOVE]UTION, and they'll continue, but it's an up hill battle.

    Out of the two-hour debates, Ron Paul has the record of getting the least amount of time (despite ranking 3rd in the national polls); he usually gets about 90 seconds of the 2-hour debates, and is pitched "gotcha" questions.  It's because his answers are never soundbites, they get people thinking, they blur party lines, and while you have every other Republican on the state saying one thing, he says something completely different.

    The fact that there is a COMPLETE media blackout on the man means that the corporations fear him; anyone that the MSM pushes, you should be wary of, anyone that they go –hard-- out of their way to ignore, you should be looking into.
    Here's a quite funny video from Comedy Central's the Daily Show with Jon Stewart's take on it, if you're interested:

    Here's a good example: Who won the Florida Straw Poll?  Everyone should know that.
    Who won the California straw poll?  Exactly.

    Nova, I used to think **exactly** what you were thinking.  Heck, I was actually (and to an extent, still am) making plans to leave this country and give up all hope in it, until Stephan turned me on to Ron Paul; he really is America's last statesmen, and possibly the country's last hope.  And don't worry, if he doesn't get the nomination, I probably am going to give up on this country (especially if someone like Perry or Romney get in).

    Seriously, if you just want to sit back and complain, saying that there's no way to do anything so you don't want to ever take action, then just rage at my post and ignore whatever I'm saying.  But if you honestly care about this country, and want to make a difference, I do ask that you give this man a chance.
    Before you reply to me, if anything, at least watch this one short video, it's the best introduction I know of aside from [For Liberty](http://www.forlibertymovie.com/catalog/) (but that is two hours long):
    ```
    ```
  16. @DrNova:

    > I am sorry you only got to meet a republican, but still cool :)

    Dude, Ron Paul is my hero man – seems like the last politician left with any integrity (he even cured my Apathy :>).

    And don't let the "R" fool you -- other Republican politicians can't stand him since he's not only more left on foreign policy than Obama, but he's usually always calling them out.  Democrats have even started a "[Blue Republican](http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robin-koerner/blue-republicans-an-idea-_b_897405.html)" movement to counter the GOP's aggression against him.

    EDIT: He's also the only person in politics I could stomach being near; I cringe at the site of Perry and Romney, and I'm no longer a fan of our current President, especially after Libya and Anwar.
