  2. @SyIexus: > Future of eclipse huh? > > You're gonna have to do A LOT more than what you have for that. > > Your map plain out… sucks (sorry to bash but it's true), you need detail and better transition. > > RMXP graphics are illegal to use on Eclipse even if you're used to them on RPG maker. > > Your scripter should be able to do more than that > > no coder needed? then it definitely wont be the future of eclipse > > You're using 2.7 which has 3 frame animation which is why they drag their feet. 3.0 will have four frame > > Well, at least you're not asking really stupid questions that are easily answered from reading tuts. So I wish you luck with your project It looks like thats why he is in need of mappers… This is the recruiting center, not for feedback. Maybe he already has a vb coder? Anyhow, good luck with the project, and hope you get the help you need. If I may be of any assistance, feel free to send me a PM.
  3. Usually it is best to play around with everything. Most people actually learn best by doing it. What I did was, messed around with every possible feature of Eclipse to see what it was or what it did, and the more I did it, the more everything all came together and made sense. For beginners, I'd recommend doing that, and getting used to things, get some experience before making the attempt to start your own game. That's probably an answer you don't want to hear but, it's the truth. Anyhow, if you tell me the name of the auto updater you're trying to use, and where I can get a copy of it, and I'll tell write a tutorial on how to use it, hopefully one that even beginners would understand. Let me know..
  4. The only problem there is, not all mappers have knowledge in item and npc creation.

    My green sword

They're awesome! Only question is, near the top of the blade on the left side, there are some holes that I can just barely see. Is that intentional?
  6. 1\. Use the shop attribute. When you click the "shop" attribute on the attributes list, it will ask you to pick a shop number. Pick one that you already have made, and put them down on the tiles you want, similar to the "Block" attribute. When a player walks on any tile that has that shop attribute, the shop menu will appear.
  7. Glad to hear that its working! :) But thank wine and linux for helping me figure out what files it was that were needed to fix that! lol
  8. Actually, I had noticed, that DLL file didn't come with the libraryfiles.exe, or at least to my knowledge it didn't. I was testing this on Linux, running under wine, which actually seems to be having some of the same problems as vista. Wine was spitting out a bunch of errors with "registry keys" that it was missing, like "{6c34da-cd04-etc….} ... After looking at the same exact key entry on my windows xp pc, I found out which DLL it was complaining about from the registry entry there. So, I put it on my server, registered it, and it started right up. Now, the only issue I have is that my server claims that anyone and everyone who connects to it is connecting from 0.0.0.0 .. So, if anyone has a fix for that, let me know! :P
  9. Okay, I think I might have figured out how to get rid of that ActiveX Component error.. Download COMSocketServer.dll from http://www.worldwarproductions.com/Eclipse%20Library/COMSocketServer.dll , then run "regsvr32 path/to/COMSocketServer.dll" See if that fixes your troubles, and let me know.
  10. lol it was meant to be human, but looks like it turned out to be more of a monkey!
  11. You have to make the gold item.. Add an item in your item editor, call it Gold or whatever you want to, make it stackable, and select "Currency" for the item type.
  12. It is possible that you don't have an item selected for it in the item editor, its possibly blank. Check the item editor and see what you have. The engine also recognizes only slot 1 as the currency slot.
  13. kind of looks like one, doesn't it? i was going for a human look, bah! lol… oh and anyone can use it for whatever they want, modify it, use it, etc.. of course if you wish to.. :-o
  14. Here is my first (horrible) attempt at making a sprite or any kind of pixel art for that matter….lol First of all, I'd like to thank the Pixel Art tutorial that someone on these forums linked to: http://www.zybez.net/community/index.php?showtopic=724901 I learned some of the basics of "line art" and everything from there, so it kind of got me into the mood of wanting to do this, and gave me an understanding as to how sprites are made.. I'd also like to thank DezireSoft, who allowed me to watch him color a few pixels (on webcam lol) in and do some edits to his sprite base he was working on last night. That also helped me learn how to do this, and also inspired me to want to give it a shot. ![](http://www.sleisysoft.com/firstspritebig.bmp) That is a bigger zoomed in image so that you can see it a little better.. Below, it looks a little better in the smaller one, but it was a bit too small to show it off here, so I decided to include both of them. ![](http://www.sleisysoft.com/firstsprite.bmp) Anything I should have done differently? Anything I should do when making these? Feel free to use or modify it if you wish to do so.
  15. Seeing that Eclipse was made with VB6, you'd have to redo the source in C++, or otherwise do it with VB6\. Not possible any other way.
  16. ok simius, and are you going to disguise yourself as the cat? nah how about you go for the hen… that would be a distraction... :P
  17. @əˈnɪgmÉ™x: > this plan seems …...... seems illegal :P i'm pretty sure there would be more than 1 guard.. they got tons of secret service rofl
  18. In fact, I have already posted many replies back with the best thing to do for now. That is to like I said, contact your congress and politicians and tell them how you feel about it, and remind them that they took an oath to protect your rights and liberties, and to vote against it. If that fails, the next step would be telling them that if they aren't going to uphold their promise, then they will not get your vote and several other people's votes when it comes time to renew their term. Of course for something like that, it will take many people to mention that, then we'll see how quick they jump up and speak against it!
  19. Well, according to the constitution, the right to overthrow the government is there, but too many people are asleep, brainwashed, or afraid, or are suck ups and constantly defend everything the government does. Not enough "intelligent" people to start something in that area. All of the game and software, and music downloaders and key crackers are going to love it and be all for the law…lol The funny thing is, those same people who do steal music on the internet, and games, they'd probably be against this idea if they were to create their own work. Funny how it can get turned around when they are the victim of theft. That is why I always say to people who steal other people's work. Put yourself in their shoes. How would you feel, if you were a programmer, graphics artist, or builder of some sort, that put so many hours of hard work into making something that you plan to attempt to make a living off of, barely making anything on it, only to have a bunch of people stealing it on the internet for free?
  20. Those lamps in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th map look like they were just randomly thrown out in a random spot without any effort, and so they stand out like a sore thumb to me. Another thing that I think your maps need is detail. More trees, flowers, perhaps some dirt in the fenced in area.. Also having the boat in a very small pond there doesn't look too good. If it was bigger, then maybe, but just doesn't look write with the size of it.
  21. Thanks for the compliment. Coming from you really means a lot, as I've always admired your awesome work, and your "Seven Nations" project. I definitely agree that games are more than just single maps. Thats going to be one of the downfalls to the timing on the release of my game, as my ideal map count is about 3,000 maps. Some of you might think that is insane, but hey… Look at most of today's games, with an endless amount of land to explore. You could take every bit of land in them games and convert it to a 2D map, and it would probably come out to be far more than 3,000 maps using Eclipse.
  22. Marsh has shoes while he goes away from your mom from your plowing the front of Canada. Then, he banned you for double posting about me, which caused a huge scandal between pokemon and yugioh because your father accidentally killed a hippopotamus with a toothbrush. Meanwhile, fireflies were unreal because Eclipse won the fight between various lepers whose pants died. Cancer, unable to sustain proper
  23. On that link provided, notice how it claims no records of what position they voted were kept. Typically on all new laws that are being voted, a record is kept and it shows which congress reps voted yes and which voted no. It looks like they're going to hide who the thief approving politicians are this time. And no, there is actually a difference in shoplifting, and taking non copyrighted ideas.
  24. I agree, because you never know.. Someone wealthy enough may come along and take it and copyright it for themselves and then tell all of us to either A) delete Eclipse engine off of our computers, that we aren't permitted to use it without paying, or B) take us to court Fundraiser time…
  25. Thats exactly why its being done. If one of the bigger corporations that can afford the extra fees of copyrighting stuff, they will take whatever graphics they like or wish to have and copyright it, and then try to sell it right back to you as part of a product, and there will be nothing you can do about it unless you are wealthy enough to fight against their huge bank of lawyers, or unless you are wealthy enough to copyright everything you make. Obviously, you're not going to do that unless you see that it might be worth it. And obviously, you're not going to do that unless you have potential buyers of your created work. Unfortunately, you can't really predict that, so it will be either to pay to copyright it when you make it, or wait until you get a potential buyer to buy your work, who, if they aren't respectful enough of another person's work, can take it without paying you and take complete ownership of it. Bah.. I say, write to your congressmen and let them know that you would not like to see your work be opened to theft by the big guys, and that they took an oath for their spot, and if they will not uphold your rights and liberties, which they agreed to protect when taking office, then you'll make every effort to not vote for them, and to see to it that they don't get voted in on the next election if they aren't willing to put an end to it! Do it folks, its your only chance. EDIT: Not to mention, the bigger corporations probably will have the first bid at copyrighting their stuff. Oh, and to point it out, supposedly these "copyright firms" that are expected to be used to do the legal copyright crap are non existant at this time.
