  1. Jesus Robin, you play a lot of Runescape.
  2. @Hippoman: > Wtf is dithering? is that the checkers thing? > > Also Azk: Yeh i hated teh back, no good at shaping the outline. Its also really flat, i tried bumping it up but it didnt really work. yes dithering is the checker pattern. I'll upload my version cause i don't think your gonna remake lol :D ![](http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/5666/hippoman1.png)
  3. @Hippoman: > ![](http://i31.tinypic.com/2up75eq.png) > Got it. > > Ok well i absoulutely hate the shape, shading, and overall everything of this hammer. > > But best i could do. > > ![](http://i31.tinypic.com/b5hzs4.jpg) > > I threw in a pallette for all yo mofo's who love dem pallettes. > > NOW ITS YOUR TURN! Okay.. Well this is what I have to say. 36 - Yes it's noticeably a mallet, though.. for it to be realistic the shaft would have to be like 4 times as long. 26 - Grey scale. And there isnt as much contrast needed to give it any type of shape. 25 - Dithering is okay for a stone texture. but not when the colors are so similar, also.. to give it shape to much dithering can be bad, and just blend it all together. Normally with stone it should look natural and unfinished, so try and put in some indents, or small fractures. 87/150
  4. @♥♠DD: > You critique now, and that sword looks horrible :\ What makes it so horrible? And Since apparently you think its so horrible.. me critiquing yours would just be wasted words.
  5. @hollywoodkid: > ![](http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/tt209/dray777/Sword3.png) > it was sorta of hard to to fix the problems because idk how. The Shadow? on it makes it look odd. and distorts the shape. ![](http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/9792/holywoodkid1.png) The main thing i changed to show you is your color choice. You have gray-scale which is kinda boring. In mine, I used purple's and blues.. and was able to blend them together getting a silvery grey look. (this is hue shifting, started with a dark purple to say a light blue.. or like a light green. Also.. the darkest color is also used as the darker color for the brown handle, because of the tone of its color it allows it to fit in with the brown and red grip. Main thing i'm trying to show with this edit isn't entirely texture, but more of color choice. while dealing with a metal object, color also comes into play while working with that texture. metal uses cooler color, with a fairly strong contrast, while say a rubber does not have much contrast cause light doesn't entirely reflect off it as well. DD, I'll critique yours tomorrow. I'm sleepy. Well.. I'm actually about to just watch through the .hack//sign series.
  6. @hollywoodkid: > Grade me! > > ![](http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/tt209/dray777/Sword.png) 28 - I can tell its a sword. the thing is, what type of sword, I'm guessing its a broad sword from the thickness of theblade in relation to the handle. only 28 points because its flattened.. doesnt show any depth on the item. Next time make it skew'd a bit. as if its laying on the ground. 23 - Reason for this. Yes, you have less then 15 colors and all.. but I guess I said it wrongly.. More colors isn't bad.. it just has limits. you have 4 colors which isnt at ALL enough to shade 3 different tones. No noticeable hue shifting. Try with around 7 colors. 2dark,3mid,2highlight. 26 - Lightsource wasnt really pointed out since there isnt any highlights to show it. The dithering isnt bad. but on a sword (a Generaly smoother object, your not going to have a pattern like that). Its hard to shade with so few colors. So wasnt much to grade upon. Total - 77/150 Edit with this advice in mind, then repost. After I see your change I'll have a go at your first version, and show how I would of changed. So you can compare.
  7. Its not a competition.. Its more of a tutorial then anything.
  8. @ᴆᴎᴧ: > How can you say the gun sucks? > I give it a 10/10! There is a few things I could do to improve. but being lazy stopped me.
  9. Okay. Well to start this off… I'm going to use a grading system. ![](http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/1831/gradesheet.png) Closer the grade is to 150, the better your piece is. Pretty self explanatory. To get it started.. We can start with something fairly easy.. I'd like to see detail on it.. so lets try. Subject - Sword. Canvas Size - 64 x 64. Colours - Unrestricted. Background - White Animation - No. SAVE AS A .PNG
  10. Well thanks.. I'd LOVE to see your try's at items.. and then if you post. I could even give you tips to improve them.
  11. Lowering the saturation of the colors will improve it.
  12. ![](http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2180/1773103495_e959c4bd0f.jpg?v=0) Yes.. Even a light source has a light source. Light doesn't bend. SOOO whatever is dirrectly in line of the light.. shows darker then what is.
  13. I guess I could do some ranged weapons.. even though it'll be just like this since the same technique is used.. its pretty much if you can sketch something.. you can scale down and edit in a pixel scale. Maybe i'll focus more towards a texture. or pallete
  14. @Tiberiusâ„¢: > have u thought u about doing my tiles yet? if no, could u make some base tiles, and ill hand the rest of the work over to Chakra. Could of been left to a PM. And I have not. I already made the grass / cliff tile, Chakra should be able to work off of that.
  15. @Lenton: > It looks cool going through the stages but I think it would just be easier to pixel it. you'd think, but pixeling at the smaller scale is harder to make the shape you want, without all the tedious trial and error. @Godlordess: > Like I said for the other tutorial: neat tutorial. Any change that you'll make a tutorial about tiles like dirt, grass, sand, water, etc.? I'd be mainly interested in that, as would be others, I think. > > Regards, > Godlord. Probably.. Just is going to be one of the last thing I do, cause I HATE tiles.
  16. haha, well thanks, what I meant by Type of item is like, Swords, helmets, potions, resources. not specific item's that could only have multiple by a recolor.
  17. Okay, Well I'm going to start making a collection of tutorials, and I'll begin this section with Shields. >! ![](http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/925/itemsheild.png) >! ![](http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/6/itempistol.png) Suggest which type of item, and I'll whip something up for that next.
  18. @мсичġġεт: > Washington? Which one? State, somewhere near the Microsoft HQ.
  19. Ty, Someone try it out a bit, and post your results.
  20. Uhm.. Actually he is.. SORTA right. Microsoft is partnered with a College in Washington.. soo in some form.. he could go to college for Microsoft. I don't recall which college it is. If I remember what it is. I'll let you know.
  21. @Hippoman: > haha he has a butt. > > besides my rash comment…very nice gfx. like the tut too. Would you rather I put some underwear on him? Sides will come.. Eventually.. Maybe. I'll work on a different tut next. Possibly some items
  22. Edited.. added a back.. Most of the txt in it is the same as the front view. Since all it really is.. shaded different.
  23. Okay, hopefully this will be the first of MANY tuts to come. I've been pretty bored lately and want to use my time to benefit the community. It isn't as in depth as I wanted. But hopefully it will be enough to help some. I might even add into my tutorials a difficulty level, to help newbies progress through them in difficulty. >! ![](http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/1676/spritefrontview.png) >! ![](http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/9952/spritebackview.png)
  24. As long as I do better then a C they are happy. Glad my brother did horrible in school. Lowered their expectations.
  25. It's suprisingly very nice. The simplicity of it makes it's quality stick out.
