  1. Off-Topic: Azure & Fuu…..The more you bring up the subject, the worse you will make it. Flame-Baiting isn't the way to go guys. This part goes for Slime aswell, retaliation is just as bad. If you bite, they know exactly what comment is needed to set you off.

On-Topic: Looking at your videos. The game looks good. Yes the graphics may still need improvement, but I certainly can not do much better, and learning is the medicine needed for perfection. I would like to download, but I agree with some of the members here. If the large maps are causing lag problems on the version engine you are using, it will take away from the fun of the game and cause more irritation than anything else. I suggest upgrading your version and reintergrating your data (whatever it may be) to that version.
  2. The story is good, I like the detail. It allows for the imagination to form the characters you are trying to create.

I would like to point out a little quibble with the "scene setting" at the beginning of the first paragraph, however.

You've actually set the scene in a fairly monotonous sentence rather than allow the sentence to flow into the depth of the story…...Only the first sentence though.

Something like this may sound better.....

"The Great Alakari Desert; death to all and home to none. Across the scorched sandlands, a steam engine follows the heat expanded rails towards its final destination; the jewel city named Jedoca. The automotive, whose rails were built by many young men, fooled by the promise of riches and killed by the searing heat of the Alakari, is an engine of great luxury. Seats are covered by the finest materials, cushions strewn each seat and compartment and chefs cook foods so exotic, that a man would have to eat them to believe they exist: However, such luxuries are only availiable to those with the coin."

It's only an idea, but I think it allows the story to flow from the start; rather than having to set the scene straight away, this allows the scene to be set throughout.
  3. I'm going to apologise for posting this so far into your development, because your game's general design and layout etc seem to be very much the way you wanted it.
Unfortunately, without a plot or history, it really will end up being "Just Another Game".

Please do not think of me as being overly critical, but more advisable; if, of course, advice is what you are still after. To make a game, in my opinion, you need to have a primary basis around which the game will be formed. I have not seen anything in this whole thread that relates to such a basis.

The Land, The History, Pre-/Post-Events leading up to the point of adventure, The Characters, The Objective, The Uniqueness…..All of these, and more, can become either a central basis or become building blocks around the basis of any game.

Let's say for instance, I wanted to make a completely original Ninja game. No references to either Naruto, or any other anime or live action based ninja production. My central basis for a game such as this would be the question...."What Was A Ninja's Beliefs?"
Ninja's believe that hand signs gave them the ability to "buff" certain parameters (i.e. Silence, Invisibility etc). They likely had camps, scattered throughout their protected areas. They asked for guidance and assistance in the gods; gods such as Amaterasu, the sun god.
All of these aspects can then be applied into the game as it's central basis. Any embellishments or Exaggerations can then come later.

The fact is, you need to entice people. The only way you will entice people is with understanding, and, in this case, it is the understanding of what your game is about.
  4. I haven't written anything for a while, and, to be honest, any material I could show you has been saved on to my father's computer. However, if you wish to give me the "gist" of what HoA ids about, I'd be happy to have a go at coming up with a back story or history…..whatever it is you need.
  5. I'll say this, it looks good. I have to admit, some of the objects, such as houses, do not seem to belong amongst some of the tiles, but as you have said, it isn't something you will stop working on, and improvements of the slightest manner will always be rectified.

I certainly hope all goes well for you, I've always enjoyed games that mash entirely different labels together into one game…..Yes....Kingdom Hearts fan right here :D
  6. Just a couple of things I'd like to point out, but please do not take it as a way of lowering your morale or offering unhelpful criticisms.

You have said at the very start of your post that it is not a "Naruto" based game, but it is infact something alternative, yet, looking at your character templates, it is more taking basis from Naruto than made out. I remember a long time ago, when I first joined NinOnline's forums as YoungCoco, that I was excited about the potential of a Naruto creation, however, since then, I have searched time and again for general ninja MMORPG's and have been faced with Naruto based games without anything different.

I fully recommend you, perhaps, research the alternative "clothing" worn by Ninjas of different clans in history and maybe embellish these with your own imagination.

If you were willing to adjust the path you are currently following with character design, I would love to assist in any way I possibly. My pixel artistry is not masterful, but it does exist and I have a fairly good imagination and dedication to research what is necessary. If you require any of my minimal amount of works as a gauge of skills, please feel free to ask :D
  7. I have to admit, that this can be viewed from two sides…..The fact that it came out of the blue, may, of course, appear a little "Scammy" (Is that even a word yet? Better check the Oxford Dictionary).....However, could it just be that it is a gift horse.

Now, all he has said in his post is that he is only being asked to be trusted with files in regards to whichever specific persons game so that he can run it. He is not, in any way, asking for any form of real-time interconnection with your PC/Laptop itself (If I have incorrectly pronounced that, please excuse me, I'm Old)......If people, honestly, beyond any doubt, were worried about theft of their files, they would expend a little some of money....yes, MONEY.....as to openly patent their game, graphics and whatever other programming that goes in to a game. Patenting does not increase in price the more you add, but the option to include further information is still there.

If people aren't willing to go the hog for their own stuff, I can't see how they can complain when their idea gets taken.

Now, on the topic of the assistance itself....as much as I have an idea for a game, I have neither the skills or programming savvy to even begin it, so I will not need a server.....But, I would like to wish you luck on your venture of mutual exchange.
  8. Although I too am fairly new at the pixel artistry gig, .Hack// is one of my favourite franchise's to actually directly affect my life. I would love to sprite and improve my skills as a part of your team, if you need me to prove myself, however, tell me what you need and I will attempt it as best I can.

Yeah, although my levels are still shoddy, I always one for going to areas to take part in all the new things they had going than concentrating on levelling up….lol.

    Thank you for the welcome
  10. Hello to the Touch of Death/Eclipse Forums.

My username is Byson, although i used to run off of the name YoungCoco (Not so Young anymore :D)

I am a novice spriting artist with interest in furthering my skills in the field.

I believe I have a fairly good idea for an interesting MMORPG, although I, unfortunately, do not have the skills with which to begin it, thus the reason for labelling myself a novice. Let's just say I was just able to pull off a workable Grass Tile.

That's the recent stuff, now for my MMO history…. I got into MMORPG's by playing the underrated .Hack// on the PS2, I knew nothing about MMORPG's before this time and by playing the game, I was able to significantly evolve from my immature obsession with "Chat Rooms". The first MMORPG I played was a text based, fantasy for which I cannot remember the name.....This later evolved again to the Love it or Hate it phenomenon that is Runescape.
I have played Runescape to close on 9 years now, and although it is boring at times, I've always enjoyed helping the newer members of the community, helping them absolve into Runescapes world. My most recent MMORPG, slap me for saying this, has been the fan made "The World 2D" based on the .hack// series. I have to admit that graphically, it is not the best fan made game out there, but the community is increasingly and forever friendly.

I certainly hope I have made more than enough of an introduction, and I certainly hope somebody will allow me the chance to improve on my skills, and perhaps even assist in the idea i mentioned in the above paragraphs.

    Thank You for reading
  11. That tileset is actually incredibly nice…..sort of gives me the impression of Disgaea combined with Tron :D.

All joking aside, I like the colour and attention to detail regarding each tile, the odd "obstructive" additions, such as the Log, also shows an acute attention to detail. I do agree with the removl of the black grid though, find out if the tileset works without the divide.....in this case I believe there would always be a risk of the gridding taking the attention away from the more important visual details of your work.
