  1. Lol, I like the "play on the mind" Earth vs Alien scenario you have going. Almost like a Role-Play Thriller. It is true that you need more content, but that all comes with time. If you have even a mock up of what a game screen is meant to look like, I suggest adding it as to show a bit of colour and depth to your advertising post.

Regarding the "Recruitment" of members, you ever thought of advertising in the Talent Center category. There are many people who would be enticed by such a plot, and may decide to assist with dedication to improve.

I would also recomment a slight rework to the plot. It sounds like, someone whose tongue is running away from them. Try cleaning it up slightly as to make it a little easier to understand.
  2. Ages Online, originally under the title of Age of Wizardry, is a 2D MMORPG without the isometric adaptations, created by the "3F" Development Team.

    **History of "Ages"**

    >! NOTE: The History of our land known as "Ages" is just that. The game will involve no central plot as it will concentrate more on communitous activity.
    >! **~Extract from “Chronicles of Creation” by High Druid Henric Wilheim~**
    >! In the beginning, man was but a concept in the mind of an ultimate being, known, in this present day as, “The Creator”.
It is rumoured that this, “Creator”, grew weary of Its everyday existence of preservation, and, deciding that It required further stimulation to continue the consistent cycle of protection, It began work on, what we believe to be, a true masterpiece.
The land as we know it was spun out of the ethereal of space and upon it, It painted the watercolour of the oceans and the oiled texture of lands. Taking pride in Its work, ”The Creator” believed that the masterpiece required alternate shades of light and darkness of which portray the differential beauty of the land; thus, Day and Night were created.
    >! As Day and Night passed over and over, and the Oceans started to affect productivity on the surface of the land, “The Creator” was entranced by the occurring wonders of self creation unfolding. Subconscious, biological life sprung from the lands surface in the form of trees and plantation of technicolor beauty; the oceans began to penetrate the land forming rivers, lakes and springs; febricity starched and dried areas of the land turning it to arid desert of a beautiful yellow gold; whilst the lands themselves churned to create grass cloaked cliffs and mountains made of snow capped stone.
    >! Upon this land of hypnotic beauty, “The Creator” turned to forming Its own interpretation of life. Many Day and Night cycles turned as It meticulously grafted Its final addition to the masterpiece: Thus, the Tree of Origin came into existence.
Life that was, and life that is, is all due to the ancestral seed moulded by the intricate hands of “The Creator”.
    >! **~Extract from “The Formation of Tower Origin” by Military Historian Cpt. Tren Meirs~**
    >! The Tree of Origins…..Artistically grown from the inspiration of Its self evolving artwork known as “Ages” has, and always will be, referred as the ancestral seed that gave us, and all creatures as we know them, life and consciousness.
    >! With that referral, I begin my history of the formation of what is known as Tower Origin.
    >! Tower Origin never existed in times of peace and harmonious co-existence with other creatures. As with the Creator and the land we now know as “Ages”, Tower Origins was only a concept, until a blight touched the very fringes of the Tree of Origins’ far reaching roots.
    >! As the Monsters were birthed from the blackened root ends, and their invasion of the nations imminent, the great nations of “Ages” sent their swiftest runners to concrete alliances between their Monarchies.
With the alliances in place, these nations amassed as an immovable obstruction in the prospective path of the oncoming Monstrosities.
A war to span the ages ensued, as each of the Tree of Origin’s most superior creations slaughtered each other, spattering the once beautiful landscape, red with blood.
After many cycles, the race of man finally succeeded in driving the hordes back in to their blighted lands, but not without great cost. Thus, with the alliances still in serving, mutual adaptations were made for a single tower to be built at the base of the great Tree of Origins.
    >! This tower, they said, would serve as the epicentre of the lands, a central point of the Council of Monarchs, a place of training to only the most skilled of fighters and a store of all historic knowledge of the land, all kept and watched, by the new Hierarchy of Druids, men and women of whom have proven their worth as practitioners of the arcane arts to the council of combined rulers.
    >! Thus, even now, even from the far reaches from whence I write this, the Tower still stands, tall and formidable, ever watching and ever vigil over the lands contaminated by taint.

    **Classes**

    >! Since the game has a basis around the use of nations, Classes descriptions will largely include details from lands listed ingame.
    >! **Beserker:** A Warrior of little, or no, fright, originating from the Island Nation of the Norsk. The Beserker is widely known throughout the land for his/her controlled animosity in the heat of battle. The Beserker is increasingly strong and very durable, able to take a large amount of damage before falling. The beserker's favoured weapon is that of the Great Axe, a two-handed, heavy weapon meant for hacking and bludgeoning.
    >! **Hunter:** Also hailing from the Norsk Island. The hunters are fabled for their dextrous abilities to cross terrain widely inaccessible to other classes. Due to their comfort in such claustrophobic spaces, their weapon(s) of choice are that of the Twin Knives, allowing for quick disposition of enemies at close range.
    >! **Assasin:** Assasin's are not specific to any particular nation, they are only known to hide, settle and work from, the inhospitable and arid lands of the Vesian Desert. They are greatly sought after from classes of nobility in the lands of the Imperium and are reputable in the fact that they are never seen or heard when they strike their target, giving much to the Agility of such men.
The assasin's weapon of choice is that of the Kusarigama (Japanese for Sickle Chain). A weapon allowing for attacks from a longer distance than standard weaponry.
    >! **Necromancer:** A practioner of the forbidden Magics. These Vesian settlers were chased out of the lands of law and peace in to the arid desert wastelands. Necromancers are known for their great magical power, able to sunder an incredibly large opponent with a wave of his/her hand. They also have the ability to create further living weapons through the souls of the deceased. The Necromancers weapon, although it is more of an ethereal conductor, is that of a skull. Magic power increases or decreases dependant on the strength of the enemy it is harvested from.
    >! **Imperial Knight:** A soldier of the Imperium Crown and a man loyal to the lands Law, The knight is better known as the "Armored Tank" of any army. Able to withstand a multitude of hits, damage is also reduced due to their training in defence. The Imperial Knights conscript weaponry and training is in that of Pole Arms (i.e. Spears or Halberds).
    >! **Court Magician:** Known as entertainers, albeit valuable, to the noble houses of the Imperium, Court Magicians practice day and night to perform spells consistently for long periods of time. Their spells are not quite as powerful as those of the Vesian Necromancers, but, they have a tendency of not only causing damage, but comparative debuffs also. A Court Magician keeps his Wand on him at all times.

  3. As a pixel artist in training, I am having **Extreme** problems in trying to produce a "Mapping Tile" of a metallic surface.

I've been throttling Google for a while now trying to squeeze out a tutorial for Metallic Appearing Tiles using GIMP as so I can take reference and adapt as I feel like.

I was hoping that, if any of you have come across or potentially stumble across such a tutorial, would you be able to offer me the link.

It is not currently of extreme urgency, but I have restarted consistently, and it is becoming nothing, if not ingratiating.

    Thank You
  4. I must admit that sometimes it takes a little abruptness to entice the change required, although, sometimes, from a professional point of view, it is unnecessary.

I love the vibrancy of the work, although, detail wise, it does need work. I'll say this, though, I love how soft and "bouncy" the grass tiles look.

I agree with Bonk reagrding the darkening, and the trees look a little too much like ice lollies in my eyes. Look for some referential works regarding things like trees as so you can recreate, in your own way, the impression your plant life is offering.

Otherwise, good start…..I look forward to seeing how you progress.
  5. There are so many I like…..Particularly ones with a shoujo x shonen clash like "Fate Stay Night", Omamori Himari (If a little too Ecchi) & "Buso Renkin". I do like individual Shonen and Shoujo too, but collisions have the best result.

Manga wise, I'm currently reading a Dojin series simply called "Dojin Work"....and please do not be snide enough to only put Dojin under the category of H-Manga. It isn't the case. Dojin Work is a very funny series originally patented as a 4-Cell strip. Very funny and the characters are very memorable.
  6. The tiles are looking a lot better than how they started, however, the starters were good for a first attempt. The only quibble I have now is the graphic clash. The genre you now seem to have selected is very retro/8-Bit…...The castle walls, however, are very modern in style and detail....plans to simplify these may also need to be taken into consideration :)
  7. much, MUCH! better. Although there are still signs of repetiveness, it is not easily acknowledged without a fairly close glance, and of course, with an thread like this, there would be a lot of close glances. That is a very good improvement, however.
  8. Those tiles are very good for a first time. I know, just as much as anyone, how hard it is to get the seamlessness between each tile, as well as the transition between material. As far as suggestions go, I would say, for now, stick with and improve on the two current materials you have got now (Grass & Sand) until you think they look just right.

I'm just glad your transitions look nothing like mine at the mo. My grass edging reminds me of Martian Pube….lol.
  9. Spytim, here's a suggestion. You will want people to play your game, whether it be from a standpoint of self pride, or to gain a certain reputation. I agree with Aeri; take it nice and slow. Make sure everything is as it needs to be and, perhaps, try and add your own sense of individuality to it. Try a little bit of graphical design, make a map tile or two, or make up some paperdolls and associated items/icons.

I'm gald to see you are determined to produce a finished product, but even with determination, their is a possibility your game will fail. A game where you can choose a side and potentially play as a Dragon as well is a sincerely good idea, but that is only one idea alone. You need to expand on this.

If need be, ask a few people whose opinion you trust to test your early release as an Alpha. This will allow you to accumulate potentially important information on gameplay and possible future ideas and alterations. You may even receive offers of interest from members who like your idea and would like to team up to improve the way the game plays.

This is only meant as helpful and in no way demeans what skill you have got, but I do hold to my position of allowing the game to "mature", if to give it a word, over time.
  10. Whole point of a logo is the name…..putting anything flashy with it would mean people are more likely to remember the flashy images rather than the name. Just build around the logo name as your forefront
  11. Look at it this way….It is a toilet....and the world is overrun with zombies....those toilets wouldn't have been cleaned for weeks. put a bit of a yellow tinge into it, perhaps that would improve the camouflaging issues
  12. @Relunxet:

    > What should I do to play this game

seriously dude, what's the matter with you. The whole point of it being classed as a work in progress is because it is just that, a Work in Progress. If you are not willing to read, and only have interests in looking at pretty pictures, I suggest you move away from the Monitor and pull out a Puffin book to keep you busy for 10 minutes or so.

By the way madara, the status bar thingy is pretty, like a moth to a flame kind of thing :)
  13. ooooh, very atmospheric. I like it, the general idea of the word/name back alley is to incorporate the idea of long term hiding, thus the darness and the moon are used fantastically in that respect
  14. @Strafe:

    > Praise the lord a real comment! Thanks mate, I now have a question, look at the other thread's graphics (link is my my sig) would you ever be interested in buying this kind of style graphics which gives you rights to change them and includes templates to create more of the same style? For a small price

I think interest in purchase would be down to the idividual. Nowadays, retro games, like the classic "Rampage" are actually free to play. I do not think people will pay a price for it. They will play a game for the sake of Nostalgia, and may purchase items of rarity if that option was given in regards to if it actually became a game, otherwise, nowaday, nostalgia is unfortunately free.

In regards to your new screenshot/Mock Up, I agree with the others. Although, not so much in the clutter, as the idea is made for multiplayer action, but more in regards to the colour. If you check the zombies on the "Top Floor", their heads are almost entirely invisible against the light background.
  15. I haven't actually seen the blog? As far as I know marick is our blog man, he probably has some plans to spruce it up if the community are against certain aspects though. At least you brought it to our attention though Slime, Thanks

EDIT: Just checked out the Blog. I don't know what kind of spells those are but Roftl assures me the system is different regarding damage…..When we get through to marick, we'll talk to him.
  16. As much as it is only a little doodly thing. It appears that your skill with retro graphics are actually very good. As much as I know the times have graphically moved on, there are always people that enjoy a journey into the world of Nostalgia.

Fact is, if you are able to incorporate nostalgic graphics such as this into a plot/idea of which are both a collision of Past and Modern genre basis, then you could have a winning formula on your hands. I'm sure if Highschool of the Dead can do it, so can you :)
  17. @Marick….I told you the other day not to try and EAT you HAND and FOOT at the same time, it will take forever for the doctor's to pull you apart :D

I'll generally be on most times, but I have no authorative position, so, I wont be able to offer any updates on anything without go ahead from Roftl.....Thanks for the positive comments though guys....They are well appreciated from a morale stand point.
