  1. @Zetasis:

    > I love retro graphics and you graphics are great. I would really like to see how your sprites look when they are walking.

Thanks, at the moment just working on some new stuff i.e some still screen mock ups, take a look here:

    http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,75156.0.html

Eventually I am planning on releasing packs of this style with different themes for a small sum i.e A Fantasy Pack (with 100 sprites + 3 tilesets) for £10 something along those lines. Games and art wise I tend to be leaning to more of that zombie kind of style atm.
  2. Just a little doodle. Started using my old style sprites to create a mockup for a project I might be doing. It's a side-scrolling zombie shooter as you can see, in a very simple style. Please note I'm not the best pixel artist and I've come to this forum to learn, eventually the room will be a loo upstairs and into the sewers below.
It's based at a school you play as one of four characters who try to find why when students/teachers keep turning into zombies.

  3. I've just noticed that (sorry for the double post) that not only is my water very similar but your grass is basically an exact copy of Murdock's. If you are going to work on a game, make your own style.

    For reference:

  4. I don't want to sound like a dick but just wondering where you got inspiration for your tiles from just mainly the water seems very similar infact yours is changed by one pixel i.e yours is a w shape whilst mine is missing a pixel but just wondering how you got inspiration and where? Not saying your copying whatever just wondering? But keep going with the progress I love the trees. Ps I'm also very tired when I wrote this so it may not sound entirely incheck basically just saying the water tiles are very similar.
  5. @ondrasilny:

    > This sprites, are your work? Or only inspired DoF?

All that stuff is mine I made it, I was inspired by the original sprite style of DoF.

    @Kusy:

    > I generaly like your work man, not too much of it for me to like but it looks decent. That drawing looks like you could use it to ilustrate some brit book for kids. Brit books for kids have that kind of ilustrations.

Hey mate, haha I know exactly what you mean! Also thanks, I've been out festivaling and working at festivals but now the season has finished in England Im back to school and art stuff. Thanks, I'll keep you updated with PMs when I release new stuff
  6. Before you go on plowing ahead with stuff, stop and stare at that character. First think wow will I really want to use this as my character throughout the game? I wouldn't because to be simple and truthful that is an ugly sprite. The head is too wide and the body is awkward. The key to the first step of pixel art is lineart. Just draw a character and keep drawing different front body stances until you decide which you like, don't go for a style that's not yours, create a 96x96 pixel canvas and draw on that, don't limit yourself to a size as you aren't being contracted by someone, keep drawing and you should notice a repetitive style, work with your style, it's yours and it's easy for you to work with. After you made a sprite, animate it. Then move onto maybe make a female and male base, then a fat base etc. Babysteps make it much easier when your 50 sprites in and want to create a fat man and you have to alter your sprite. Sprites and tilesets are different things, work on one at one time one another maybe allocate different days or times of days or periods of hours to either and keep it seperated. Good luck
  7. I only listened to the first 40 minutes of both but I really enjoyed both, they are great for a beginner and better than most, if you keep practising the world is your oyster, but on another note I think if the trippy on screen projection stuff wasn't there I wouldn't have the same attention span even for 40 seconds
  8. I understand that you want people to enjoy every aspect of the game, but I know a lot of Rpg Maker games that are better than commercialised projects simply down to easy and great gameplay or a storyline, it's all about the gameplay really mate. People aren't going to keep coming back because they like one of the songs on your track, the reality is they will want to keep playing because of good gameplay, whether the maps are good or whatnot the simplicity and ease of a gui fits in and like about 3 or 4 people have already said, the dragon is too much, keep the dragon, just resize it, tone it down.
  9. Hard for us to understand how and where the gui will look ingame, at the moment it just looks as if you're showing us a sketch of some possible ui stuff but how about the placement, where will it actually go?

For some inspiration look at some Warcraft 3 screenshots, they have a good noticable style, leaves, barbaric, death etc whilst keeping not too far off to distract people from the main gui and enough space to comfortably have the gui working efficently.

  10. @Jungle:

    > Yeah, I love those tiles. It's a great site design, but I think that you should make it wider instead of vertical. People don't feel like scrolling for more than 5 seconds to see what they want.
    >
    > You can improve this many ways. First off, try to make the banner wider. It doesn't stand out a lot, so try to put a border around it. Secondly, you could just increase the width of the content in general. The display you are using right now looks like a PDF, which is bad. Thirdly, try to section off your blog posts with dark horizontal borders. The dotted lines you are using right now don't separate the posts enough and don't make the page seem wider. The more organization you have, the easier on the eyes it will be.
    >
    > Great job though. Your project is definitely on my "like" list.

Thanks, it's actually a tumblr, and I don't dabble enough in html at the moment to create/edit a design so I'm afraid it's going to stick until I can make my own or move to creating my own site.

But yeah follow me on twitter and tumblr etc and I'll keep eclipse posted when I can. If I may be so bold I could suggest you bookmark my blog so you can check up from time to time and see my progress!
  11. @AmSamurai:

    > They look damn good! Haha. Kinda seems like you and I have similar project styles going on. Keep up with this, I would love to play!

Yeah I saw your tiles, they look absolutely amazing! Do you have twitter or tumblr? If you do follow me and send me a message (or through here but i don't eclipse much) because I'm loving your work and have a great project(s) in mind (non eclipse). Message me now?

And as for the compliments, thank you :)
