  1. Yeah sweet personally i think its become noob friendlier now than back in the day, back in the day some noobs were met with harsh response!

Id just think this would be the way to go for a lot of people as it could really make someones project their own and mean theyd get much more behind it, glad you agree!

With making it more singleplayer friendly the storyline would have to be enforced using npcs and events and progression can be kind of forced ive found by mapping, creating zones in maze like layouts where it seems the area is open to explore but actually walled and with few exits it means it bottlenecks the player into doing this quest then this one then the next which can be used as a progressing storyline!
  2. Looks like a fantastic engine and must take a lot of patience being bombarded with questions abd bugs, have you ever thought about having a custom RTP for this engine i have a lot of graphics that would give this engine its own style keep up the good work my man!
  3. Ive dipped in and out of these forums for years and this latest reappearance to the forums has a different feel, things are shinier and sleeker than ever but it seems not without a cost these forums are much less populated than before however it seems a strong politer yet smaller group of eclipsians has remained!

Anyway i digress, a lot of games pick up and lose momentum all the time and pretty much most games on here are nothing more than a few ideas and screenshots and the rmxp users sometimes have enough content to set up an alpha due to the non setbacks of pre created content. With the newest version of eclipse just released I wonder if there is anything that can bring more light, members and production back to these forums.

So this brings me to my next point, just because something is labelled specifically it doesn't mean that has to be its purpose, the biggest downfall for well produced eclipse games in my opinion is at the end of the day a very small proportion of people off this community will play and support a 2D MMORPG with all the games out there. However people worldwide still avidly play and support 2d rpgs and 2d games. So what if you were to create an OFFLINE game with eclipse?

Building an offline game with a MMORPG Maker????

Well here is my theory: I am currently (with Eclipse) building a singleplayer/cooperative dungeon crawler rpg, and heres how im going to do it:

Singleplayer - user downloads the client + server, hosts own server, jumps on new character, ADVENTURE BEGINS

Offline Multiplayer - user downloads server + client, remaining players download client, one player hosts, upto 4?8?16? Players join, LAN PARTY ENSUES

Online Multiplayer - user downloads client, finds online player or developer hosted server, connects, NEW FRIENDS, MULTIPLAYER MADNESS!

So for those who tl:dr go back and read it; this is a valid point (atleast i believe) raised. Eclipse is essentially a slightly more confusing, free, better version of RPG MAKERS but what do we have over them? (Multiplayer capabilities). I think a lot of games on here would flourish under the prospect of no pressure to fill a server because the game can be played single player!

Plus i like to think a lot more original and custom ideas would come out this door.

AN INTERESTING CONCEPT? A LOAD OF BOLLOCKS? WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?
  4. Looks sooooooo much better! Only thing is going retro doesn't mean necessarily no shading etc, so to make sure everything fits in in the tileset make sure you keep detail throughout for instance the crate pops out at me atm as not fitting in. Trees look fucking sick!
  5. I personally think the terrorist's heads are too big, because the CT heads are slightly more square they look like what they should actually look like whilst the terrorist heads look like big footballs apart from that looks sick man love your style! Look at 'Superbrothers Sword & Sorcery' think youll find a good bit of inspiration of a similar style there! Really cool stuff!
  6. Yes mate i remember playing that first game you created on eclipse with the rmxp tilesets but

your custom sprites (cant remember the name) also remember all of the work that went into World of Hyrule its good to see your still improving and practicising looks sick man i really like this idea! How would the FFA winner win though? Whats the objective?
  7. **NEW SHIT 20/03/2015:**

**So I have started chucking some tiles together and mocking up some stuff, this is what I have done so far just to show how the autotiles work but later when Im stoned ill start working on the actual game areas. Note the little details throughout, any suggestions hit me up!**

  8. Try taking your riffs and switching them up, they are great to start off with but you need to chop them up and make them different in places, bear in mind songs usually are structured generally similar to [INTRO]-[VERSE][CHORUS][VERSE][CHORUS][BRIDGE][VERSE] even just adding simple variations to your melodies would bring much more of a bigger sound and theme tune to your tunes, keep it up good work!
  9. I love it! Only thing I would say is that the grass plains are too barren? I dont know what to suggest but just some few details like small clumps of trees? Hills? Small ruins and such except for that looks great!
  10. 1. **"Constructive criticism** is the process of offering valid and **well-reasoned opinions** about the work of others, usually **involving both positive and negative** comments, in a **friendly manner rather than an oppositional one**. The purpose of **constructive criticism** is to **improve the outcome**."
  11. I'm not going to apologise for anything, someone rude to me i'll be rude back. I understand what 8 bit is for fucks sake I just said it was an **8 BIT STYLE** to attract views on the forums because '**minimalistic styled pixel art zombie game mock up' **is a mouthful.

*sigh* For the analheads over here **IM NOW OFFICIALLY CHANGING THE STATEMENT '8 BIT STYLE' to 'MINIMALISTIC STYLE'**

now heads can start coming out of arses…

    ---------------

Squabbling aside. This was purely a mock up and I went a bit overboard with the display etc. Marsh I wanted to keep the white outline on the players def to keep it cartoony but also to make the players/enemies easily visible. As for the other characters it was purely a mock up for a possible multplayer iphone game but the coder and I didn't have enough time to follow through. So now I was thinking of mixing up the tils and making an eclipse engine school kid survivor zombie game.

You know use old science appliances to create a flamethrower, sharpen math utensils, raid the janitors store room, or even pelt the zombies with footballs!

If everyone could be so kind as to drop the whole slip of the fucking tongue and get back on topic that'd be appreciated. If not please just get off the topic
  12. Been messing around making loads of tiles + sprites with this ~~8 bit style~~ MINIMALISTIC STYLE I have going on, thought a zombie game would be more fun, any criticisms?

    > The Urgs are a semi-primitive race of feral humanoids that inhabit places across the world of Mythe. Urgs are large, green skinned, tough and have a blood thirsty temper. Constantly destroying and warring with eachother and any other form of civilization they come into contact with. Many problems and wars have often been caused by the Urgs.
